Yeah. Like I said. Awesome. "I don't go to clubs..."

I was in London a couple of weeks ago and was at this very store meeting Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright, and Nick Frost and having them sign the Region 2 copy of Shaun of the Dead that I picked up. It is the coolest store EVER and it was such a cool experience meeting those guys. I only wish there was a store here in the states that was that cool and had events that exciting. At least where I live, we's gots nuthin'!! Damn you brits, damn you I say!!

So close, yet sooooo far away...
-
Just read this. am in Camden Town. 12.53pm. Not going to get there in 7 minutes. Once again, balls!
-
Damn you Brits and all your infernal luck! Then again, since Mark Heap isn't going to be there, my disappointment is somewhat mellowed.

Being so fucking pissed with the way they treated the "old store" before moving on. Fucking disgraceful >:| Also, Mori if you want british spaced fans to get there, here's a hint: post the news NOT on the actual day and with only an hour or so to get there. Cause, despite popular belief, there is actually more to "Ing-Uh-Luhnd" than London.
-
What did they do that where disgraceful? Wish there was a Forbidden Planet in my country too. That and the Cinema Store on Upper St Martin's Lane 4b-c is a must when going to London.
-
The one on 12th and Broadway was awesome, and the one uptown was pretty cool, too, if a bit uptown-y. And then they moved the downtown one up a block and across the street, and changed the emphasis from everything cool to whatever the fuck it was, and I assume they closed the uptown one. Man, that sucked.
-
Damn us Brits??????
I live in fucking Scotland! When do I get a signing near me???
Also, I take it the FP in London is a hell of a lot bigger than the Glasgow one as it can only seem to hold about 10 people at once. -
How are Simon and Jessica getting on these days? I had heard they fell out but it could well be BS.
-
When did they move? I left London 2 years ago when they were still in New Oxford Street, is the new store bigger? Does that homeless woman still live outside?
-
I have some fond memories of stocking up on loads of 2000AD and Judge Dredd comics there (Forbidden Planet) and then checking out all the crazy pre-built kits in the basement. somebody invent a teleporter already.
-
"Only for the... Only for the... Only for the hard-core UK ravahhhh! REWIND!!" I love SPACED but which would you prefer, a third series or FROM DUSK TILL SHAUN?

Forbidden Planet moved about 6 months to a year ago (I dunno, I live in Birmingham) and when I last visited the old store it was the final days of their clearing out, they'd sold all the cool replicas, the unique posters, roped off the basement and had a bunch of teenage Uni/student wasters who couldn't help because they had no idea where anything was. It was just empty, depressing and only had lame 90's Marvel comics no one wanted, although I did finally get the last two parts of Venom's first comic run of only three issues...cause i'm that sad. It's disgraceful really to geeks sad enough to get upset over it, i'd been going to that store since i was a wee nipper and everyone used to walk in and feel like they'd stepped into a "Valhalla of Geekosity". Haven't seen the homeless woman since Neil Gaiman was there for a book signing for Coraline and that was 2-3 years ago. However, The Cinema Store does fucking rock and has the best collection of Film/Poster/Art books in England.
