Trio Triage: PILOT SEASON This Week!! SPACED in Two!!

Published at:  Sep 06, 2004 5:29:45 PM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

Not sure I knew what Trio was before I started getting DirecTV about nine months ago, but I do find myself checking out a lot of Trio stuff these days.

“Pilot Season” is a three-hour miniseries from writer-director-comedian Sam Seder, and co-stars a whole lot of very admirable comedians, including Sarah Silverman, Jon Benjamin and David Cross. It’s about an inept talent manager trying to get his clients placed on upcoming TV shows. The series, which begins airing Monday night, is a sequel to a funny and fairly smart unreleased film Seder made in 1997, “Who’s the Caboose” (which Trio has also been airing, and will again this coming Saturday).

TV Guide critic Matt Rouch calls “Pilot Season” “darkly funny” and says Seder’s character “rivals Ricky Gervais’ David Brent of ‘The Office’ in achieving a squirm-inducing, hilarious pathos.”

In exactly two weeks, Sept. 20, Trio introduces the British series “Spaced” to America. Ain’t It Cool’s Moriarty has been screaming at me for months about how great “Spaced” is. It’s from the same guys who later made the much-acclaimed “Shawn of the Dead,” which opens in U.S. cinemas Sept. 24. Coax spy “Mr. Moneypenny” adds this advice:

All geeks need to Tivo this, since no region 1 DVD date has been annoucned. (Although there is a sweet looking region 2 3-disc set coming out on Sept. 27.)

“Pilot Season”: 9 p.m. Monday/9:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday. Trio.

“Spaced” Sept. 20 – Oct. 1. 10 p.m. Trio.

I love SPACED. Great fucking show...... hahaha... I love the flashback to his father "my father was a great guy" and then they show him as a kid running away from his dad who is impersonating Jack Nicholson from The Shining. Great!

TRIO cool for Classic Dave & Brilliant But Cancelled

    by gheorghe zamfir

Dave is great in his NBC days, and Brilliant But Cancelled is cool just for the pilot penned by Conan O'Brien starring Adam West, I wish they'd show that one again.

    Spaced RULES!

    by doom ii

"At last we shall have revenge"--Spaced's resident asshole Dwayne Benzey (who was the actual voice of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace) finding Tim's keys he left at the bar table. Spaced is amazing. Best sitcom (British or otherwise) ever!

SPACED has already aired in America...

    by priz

Bravo aired it. They aired the first 4 episodes on Friday night at Midnight EST (2 per week). They pulled it saying the ratings were poor. (I didn't see a single advertisement or any mention on their website of the show.)

The Spaced Out board started flooding their inbox with complaints to show it and they finally did. At 4am EST every Saturday, they aired 2-3 episodes per week, ran through the whole series twice and never mentioned it again.

So all the repeated mentions of SPACED never airing here or such are BS. I just want people to know the truth. (Being one of the first people to see SPACED in the states and getting people like Tycho from Penny Arcade hooked on it back in early 2001 while Series 2 was still on the air.)
