Uncapie has red on him and hungers for brains! Yet another glowing SHAUN OF THE DEAD review!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with another glowing SHAUN OF THE DEAD review. This film is getting raves all over the place... and you'll be hearing a lot more about it in the next couple months as the publicity machine gears up for the US release. I call for Simon and Nick to appear on THE DAILY SHOW!!! How could would that be? Here's Uncapie's opinion on the rom-zom-com!

Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright have made one of the funniest, creative zombie movies of all time. "Shaun Of the Dead" presents everyman, Shaun(Played by Pegg), who is struggling with the personal crisis of being a 29 year old slacker spending all his free time drinking at the Winchester pub, a stepfather who looks down on him, quarrels with his yuppie and loser roommates and if that isn't enough, the girl of his dreams breaks up with him as he battles the living
dead.

In-jokes pop up throughout the film as references to a character named "Ash" and an Italian restaurant named "Fulci's" are just a few that horror fans will catch.

The supporting cast is topnotch. Kate Ashfield, plays Shaun's girlfriend,
"Liz" who decides that she wants to move on without him has some funny lines and looks great, but its Nick Frost who steals the show as the lazy and
unemployed, "Ed" who gets the funniest moments. After an all-night drinking binge at the Winchester pub to drown out Shaun's sorrows, they discover what they think is a drunk girl in their backyard in the morning as Ed tries to set Shaun up with her. Little do they realize its a zombie.

Then there's the Goblin score from "Dawn Of the Dead" in one scene that
presents itself with three different scenarios which is priceless.

Pegg and Wright know their stuff. Being fans of the Romero trilogy and the late Italian horror film maker, Lucio Fulci, they've created a film with
believable characters and a solid plot that horror fans will be happy to go along with them for the ride.

Well, we should have a review copy of Shaun of the Dead plopping through the letterbox on Monday morning. Might be rather hard to be unbiased in the review, though.

I loved every minute of this movie...

    by workshed

...and the scene where Shaun goes to the shops is a hoot. Did 'em in the wrong order though. This should have been second in the trilogy.

I swear to god every other goddamn headline at this site is about this f-ing movie. If you want to pimp it this f-ing hard, that's fine - it's your site, but at least wait until it's near the release date. Christ, I remember when you guys pimped Six String Samurai like this and that movie was an absolute waste of film.

I liked the movie too but ENOUGH already!

Why does AICN post 400 of the same opinions on one topic? Are they that hard up for news? "ANOTHER good review of blah blah blah." "So and so thinks blah blah blah is FANTASTIC!" It's like Harry has some inferiority complex that can only be quelled by the constant stream of similar opinions.

My favorite though is when he hasn't seen the movie in question. He breaks his back finding tidbits of factoids that make him more "connected" to the film than the reviewer who has actually seen the damn thing. Heaven forbit someone upstage him on his own site! Even for a second.

There is more news out there, let's see some of it.

  • Enter the Dragon, yes. Chinese Connection, yes . But a lot of movies on your list do not qualify.
