George A. Romero and American McGee making CITY OF THE DEAD videogame' Awesome!

Published at:  Aug 03, 2004 6:23:14 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a look at some nifty concept art for a video game... Yeah, I know... This is a movie news site, but when you have George A. Romero personally involved in a Zombie themed video game with the tagline "The Goriest Game Ever Made"... Well, of course we're gonna talk about it. The concept art looks epic and even though the two characters are a bit cartoony, I like the design... especially of the weapons. I greatly look forward to seeing how this game progresses as most of the best horror-themed video games have just been photocopies of Romero's films anyway (anybody remember that awesome Resident Evil Japanese game trailer Romero shot?)... It'll be neat to see what he does when personally involved.

Hey Harry!

American McGee ( well known disturbed nutter of the computer game industry) has posted a new article on his personal website about a new games based on George Romero's 'City of the Dead' IP. The news item is quite confusing and contradictive (its almost written is if this game IS the new movie) but theres some concept art attached to it, that should mirror the movie quite well.

the article is RIGHT HERE check it out, see what you make of it!

  • Does this guy get halfway through projects and dump them? Alice was a phenominal game. Shame the guy can't seem to get anything else out the door. I'd love to see another one with some seriously creepy atmosphere like Alice. Oh yeah, and hopefully Alice gets made into a movie. They should definitely get Tim Burton to direct it.

George Romero raped my childhood...Hulk Hogan should be in this video game, "Whatcha gonna do, zombies, when Hulkamania runs wild on you?".....Bruce Campbell should play a zombie...George Romero is the sexiest beanpole on the planet...George Lucas blah blah blah..."All you fanboys need to grow up and get a life...".....This is not news, Harry, these pics were also posted a week ago on videogamesmakeyouimpotent.com..."Fuck Greedo shooting first..."..."you're a poopyhead...no you are..."....HUT TWO THREE FOUR, AICN TALKBACK CLICHES LIVE FOREVER MORE!!!

  • Anything, in my opinion, connected with a Romero dead movie is a good thing. That being said, these are intriguing concept images for this proposed video game. Hope it comes out for the PS2. Chainsaws? Hmmm, seems to be something out of Bruce Campbell "Evil Dead" ideology. (DAMN! There's another AICN talkback cliche!) I don't know how smart it would be to go after a zombie with one of those monkeys. Sure, you can do some real damage with a chainsaw against ONE zombie, but when you have twenty coming after your ass, you would need something with a little more stopping power and a lot more range, such as a happy little M-16. But anyway, I like the idea of a "Dead" game, just to show the "Resident Evil" universe who is still boss when it comes to zombies. And by the way, GEORGE LUCAS RAPED MY CHILDHOOD!!!

I love the idea of AICN expanding to look at games. I mean when you think about it, it really does make perfect sense. 1: they already cover comic books and TV and have talked about expanding to books (not to mention the occasional article on politics or the growing issue of censorship). 2: like comic books and TV, games are more and more often being adapted to films. 3: films are becoming more cinematic. Directors, complex stories with scripts
