HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY teaser trailer

Published at:  Jul 26, 2004 8:07:02 PM CDT

Harry here with the teaser trailer to HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY that was shown at Comic Con that we've all heard about. Wish this was another format, it's an AVI, and for some reason I get image, but no sound. Better than nothing, but wanted to give y'all a fair warning... Btw, nice call out in the stars! Heh!

    Hey Bud,

You weren't first, just like Kerry come November!

As for the Hitchhiker's trailers, it is the lamest kind - all logos and effects with no actual clips from the film. You aren't missing much.

This is the Holy Grail of movies in my opinion. Forget the Godfather, forget all other movies... THIS is the movie that I have been waiting for since I read the book and listened to the radio show on tape way back in 7th grade. This book is funny and imaginative and a commentary on life... everything anyone could want in a movie. Best of all it has the words DON'T PANIC writing in large white letters on the teaser trailer. Oh to be the glove on the hand of the guy who buys lunch for the people making this movie. Can't wait.

    by carlosthedwarf

I don't really know anything about the movie or the book, but I still dug the Louis Armstrong song and the lil' tease, and I'm always looking forward to a huge movie; and anything where the earth blows up has to be huge, right? Except that lil' debacle Titan A.E... But all I wanna know is what is with that 42; any significance?

42 is the meaning of life

    by i dunno

The people of the universe built a huge supercomputer to figure out the meaning of life. It came up with "42". Then they built another supercomputer to figure out what the original question was. That computer was called Earth. Every lifeform on Earth is part of a complex matrix and every being on earth has The Question imprinted in its DNA. Unfortunatly the earth was demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass. The only 2 lifeforms to survive are a hot chick and a clueless goof, the main character. The chick was saved because she hooked up with the three armed, two headed ex-president of the galaxy and the clueless goof unknowingly happened to be friends with a stranded alien who was writing about earth for the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the largest reference book in the universe. A depressed robot named Marvin rounds out the cast. That should about cover it.

That is, I'll be looking forward to the next trailer instead of dismissing the film as trash, since it's being done without supervision from the grandmaster writer Douglas Adams himself, which was something I'd always been mortally afraid of imagining.

    by eeterofwurldz

42 is not the meaning of life you froods. 42 is the ultimate answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. To say it's the meaning of life implies that you know what said question is, which is impossible.

    God damn Bandwidth Limits!

    by obi12kenobi

  • that's because Douglas Adams hated what he called "that obscene little thing" and spent many of his final years in this dimension combatting it.

Oh, and to whoever called the others on this board "froods": "Frood" means, "really amazingly together guy." You want to insult them, call them "zeebs."

As to the trailer, well, dunno yet. Just a teaser. Plays to the converted, don't think it will attract newbies. Still, all the buzz coming from this project is ecstatic, and to those concerned that Douglas Adams isn't nurturing this, his estate and interests are deeply embedded in the project so his legacy at least has a fighting chance.

Oxford English dictionary defines 'tool' as 'a person used as a mere instrument by another' and 'shed' as 'natural wastage'. Therefore, I must be your toilet and the reason that when I'm in close proximity to you you're so full of shit. Touche.

    by lezbo milk

I always get a kick out of how the youth on college campuses around the country buy into the ultra-libirtarian bullshit that professors spew out on a regular basis. College is such fun. You have no responsibilities other than to pass your classes, get laid, and try and figure out how you are going to scrounge up tomorrow nights beer money, all while keeping the parents happy so the golden tit doesn't dry up. I get an equal kick out of how, after graduation, and once the career kicks in, and people start seeing thier tax money fly out of thier paychecks at an astonishing rate...once liberal college hippy, save the whale wanna be's...suddenly find themselves becoming quite conservative. Now I'm not a Bush supporter, and I'm not a Kerry supporter either. Those of you who think Kerry lives on the same planet as the rest of us are dolts. Billionairs live in a different world than we do folks. Anyways, my advise is to be an independant voter. Both sides are full of shit in thier own way, so don't take any of it. Stop taking partisan sides and start taking the side of common sense. Maybe then we will get someone half way decent to vote for.
