One of the Greatest Trailers of All Time! Japanese trailer for ONG BAK MUAY THAI WARRIOR! It will own your ass skin!
Harry here... from time to time there are things that I find on the internet that produce sheer unadulterated glee and abandon. The Japanese trailer for ONG BAK MUAY THAI WARRIOR is one of the greatest things ever created by mankind. That I've seen Ong Bak perhaps 45 times since it debuted at Toronto last year means nothing. That I'm literally dying to see Luc Besson's edit and scored and sound designed version is an understatement. This film is the 20 Billion Ton Gorilla of Martial Arts Coolness! And this trailer... this trailer owns!

This trailer will own your happy gland, like it owns my happy gland!

Anyone recognize the music in the last third of the trailer?
by wesley snipes
About 2/3 of the way through the trailer, the music stops and then a new, bombastic but joyous symphonic score kicks in. Does anyone know where it's from? It's great! They don't use music like that in Hollywood films anymore.
-
Can't wait for this!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I try betta next tiiiime. Please, more flapajacka noooow.
-
My friend let me borrow this movie that he imported awhile ago. Letme tell you. This trailer makes it look 100x better than it is. It had some good moments though a lot feels cheap. That running through the street scene was kinda overdone and it's like he's running down a straight path and the weirdest things HAVE to cross his path so he can do crazy ways of getting over them. Kinda fake though cool at same time :)
-
compared to the JAPANESE trailer for ONG BAK MUAY THAI WARRIOR!
The JAPANESE version comes with 30 more minutes of trailer and much more gore and nudity! You also get a free ONG BAK MUAY THAI WARRIOR blender with each trailer!

Yeah! yeah! you praised Anchorman like it was the second coming
by super cucaracha
and it kind of sucked.

Am I the only person that thinks this looks like it was made in Hong Kong in 1973 by Run Run Shaw?
Dude. It's a martial arts movie. Chop-sockie. Not even the good kind. It's entertaining if you're under 14. Move on. -
it IS the second coming... at least for good old fashion martial art movies... This movie will drink at the same table as The Prodigal Son etc. Ong Bak kick serious serious ass...
-
Looks like a ton of fun. Any movie with a guy kicking another guy in slow-motion with his own legs on fire will be seen by me. Hey, being a cinematic omnivore is not pretty.
-
Anyway, I think I saw a special on this like a year ago about how incredible and dangerous and realisitic the stunts were.
-
Sure, but it's not better than fast food, right?
-
If your idea of great martial arts scenes are those from The Matrix, then you need to be schooled on how it should be done. Ong Bak is the flick to do it. This young kid, I believe his name is Tony Jaa,is unbelievable! His style is refreshing, and the realism in the fight scenes are the best I've ever seen. It may not be the best movie story-wise, but if it's action you want, you can't go wrong! There seems to be alot of bias against Asian cinema on this board anyway;put a white actor in these same roles and some of you would swear by it.I would have rather seen Jet Li as Neo than Keanu; at least he wouldn't have depended on wires as much and can actually kick someone's ass. There has to be some quality to these films or else Hollywood wouldn't be so influenced by them. Free your minds, people!
-
There does seem to be some anti-Asian bias here at AICN. All you have to do is watch one of these films and you'll be a believer. That is, if you actually allow yourself to enjoy it. The best action films are NOT found on American shores. From the more modern actioners like Hard Boiled and Time & Tide to vintage martial arts classics like The Prodigal Son and Pedicab Driver...Asia is where it's at.

I still can't believe they had Tom Cruise star in The Last Samurai. Tom Cruise! Imagine the flip side.
Jackie Chan starring in a movie about the American revolution.
"He came from China to fight a war but he soon found himself falling in love with the exotic American culture. Now he must help them defend they're way of life against the evil British."
-
I think all movies should use a quote from the New York Times translated into Chinese.

it ain't owning none o my cheeks. i think the paris hilton porno was brighter
-
fucking idiots. They probably would've dubbed it, too.
-
cut out something like 20 minutes, put in a new score, and changed the ending
-
It's pretty amazing when you realise that NO WIRES were used in this movie. The fights looked so realistic because they were actually connecting. If you had seen the 'making of' movie on the net I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.
-
Well, Ong Bak could use a new score; that tinny, techno-trash playing in the background sucks the big one!
-
I completely agree. I'm sick to death of "white guy goes overseas and saves the savages" films.
-
This reminds me of a young Jackie Chan when he was grinding out Drunken Master and Armour of God; no shortcuts, no CGI, just plain old physical ability and skill. Now look at Jackie...he should be drawn and quartered for that bullshit "Medallion." Tony Jaa is his second coming, only he might be a better martial artist.
-
OWNAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
That looked fucking great. I had to go back and see hat dude kick the other fucker in the neck ten times. I want to see this trailer on the big screen. BTW No wires? No fucking way.

by iamarayya
I hope we see more from this country. We need to throw them some money!
-
It looks cool great. Why do the narrators always suck though?
-
It takes a geek to sit and dissect every frame of a movie instead of just sitting back and watching the damned thing. Why did he jump through the ring? BECAUSE WHO THE FUCK WANTS TO SEE HIM WALK AROUND IT??!!! All action movies require the viewer suspend belief to some degree; if you want real life, watch COPS. Does it destroy the movie if he jumps through a fucking ring of metal? How many average joes can do that shit? These guys are supposed to be larger than life, that's the point; why does he fight his enemies instead of trying to talk his way out of things? BECAUSE HE'S A BADASS!! Go get some pussy, sucker!
-
45 times????? Shit, plus that with sodas and popcorn no wonder Harry is getting fatter and fatter. The movie is already on DVD so maybe Harry can watch it another 50 times and hmm, more sodas, hmmm more popcorn.
-
Looks like one of those hardcore Jackie Chan films of the early eighties... 'cept more violent.
-
Your name is freakin' awesome, that it is!
On another note, I actually kind of liked...well, very much enjoyed... The Last Samurai even though I'm really not crazy about Tom Cruise. (If nothing else, I thought Koyuki did a fantastic job and was sort of happy when Watanabe got a nom.) But I'm not going to try and defend myself much because I can't find anyone else who agrees with me, so it must be some kind of mental problem. -
...and they are now believers. Next ass-destroying experience for them will be CASSHERN. Hee!
-
that was fucking funny dude. and I agree, I don't wanna watch a movie where the guy talks his way outta fights and just "walks around" shit. that mudda fucka better jump over or through whatever obsticle is in his way!
-
...and I have to say that this movie was just unbelievably entertaining. The people who are dissing the movie probably never saw it and more than likely get off with watching documentaries of Polish folk dance.
-
I will seriously never understand the fascination of spending hours and hours of life watching Sweaty, Shirtless Asian guys making wacky facial expression while pretending to slap each other around... Huh?
-
I think Ong Bak sucks. Sure, the fights are cool, but the story and the editing are not. Is it really necessary to show every move three times from each angle in succession? It got really annoying.
-
i actually agree with you on the last samurai.
i'm not sure why people have a problem with a white guy being in it. that is, after all, the point of the movie. tom cruise's character was not a samurai.
it has nothing to do with him "saving the savages," the film is about him finding himself and gaining an understanding and respect for their culture. he didn't save anyone... they lost. (i didn't bother to mark that spoiler because obviously everyone's seen it or they wouldn't have such a problem) -
Who cares why they show the same movie three times? In most Hollywood movies as of late, you can't even fucking SEE the moves. They're just a darkly lit, chaotic blur of kicks and punches, rapidly edited with distracting music. Is it too much to ask to be able to tell who's kicking who?! Ong Bak looks to be the next Fist of Legend...just a jaw-dropping martial arts film with top-notch choreography and angles that allow you to watch the action unfold. I don't care if they show the same move three times because a.) they look sweet and b.) I can actually fucking see it for once.

And the fight sequences and stunts kick the ass out of all the lame ass Jet Li/Jackie Chan movies of the past 10 years combined. You can't help but wince when each elbow, knee or foot connect with some poor stuntman's head/chest/back. The only thing I can knock against this movie is that in the last fight sequence you can tell that the guy has on some kind of protection vest. Still, one of the best action/martial arts movies I have ever seen.
-
that trailer doent even show 1/10 of what that kid can do. he is incredible with his knees and elbows. WATCH THIS MOVIE AS SOON AS YOU CAN!
-
Didn't see it posted here, but Ong Bak is coming ot America in November. http://www.indiewire.com/biz/biz_040604ongbak.html
I sent an e-mail ages ago to the site and they never posted it. -
Thank you! I am no longer alone. (happy dance)

It makes me long for the days of quality martial arts films like Bloodsport. And I'm being completely fucking serious there -- this trailer just made Bloodsport look like a best picture nominee...
-
Is Asian cinema always this cheesy and goofy looking? Do they even know how to craft a story that makes any kind of sense? What was it shot with? One of those Barbie Doll minicameras? Looks like it was made 50 years ago and is being released now. Just because it's from across the pond and is a kung-fu movie doesn't mean its any good. In fact it usually means the opposite. And the trailer completely sucked. Awful music, strange voice over and dumb looking titles. Was this meant to be taken seriously?
-
i'm not a martial arts nutter, but this is utterly fresh and fantastic. i have the region 3 disc and even though i can't understand a word it doesn't matter. this movie is street fighter come to life. it also doesn't take itself too seriously - especially when taking the crap out of foreigners. there is a raw energy about it that chan has lost now that he is older. maybe it's time for hong kong to pass on the mantle.
-
... i have to take some of these wankers to task; this site is seriously going down the tubes. Some of the people who post here are just sickening litlle know-it-all cunts who think they're experts on everything. Watch the movie before you say it's cheesy, you know fuck all. Fuck this site, fuck first posters, actually fuck most of the posters. You sicken me, goodbye.
-
i think not. That distinction should go to kill bill vol1

Incredible film, but where'd that silly-ass subtitle come from?!
by stonemonkey
Tony Jaa is the shit. Expect more greatness from this actor.
-
If you think Bloodsport was a quality kung fu flick, you need to expand your library quick. Don't let the trailer fool you, this is a good flick. I don't recommend it for the people who hate these films, because it probably won't change their minds. But if you can appreciate real martial art skill, this kid will entertain you. You have to be highly trained to even attempt these stunts with no wires or padding. As for the Bloodsport plug, I'll forgive you for that if you change your name to Lobotomy Man!
-
What's wrong with a shirtless Asian? Do Asian people bother you? Is it because they don't speak English in most of these films? Shirtless American actors pretend to slap each other around all the time in film, why can't Asians? Are you that programmed that you can't open your mind to something new and different? You may mock these Asian films but the fact is alot of American films are being influenced by Asian cinema, and not always for the better. John Woo is God in Hong Kong, but can't buy a hit in Hollywood because they just don't get it, and I guess you don't either.
