Learn Who Plays Miranda Zero and Aleph in GLOBAL FREQUENCY!! They

Published at:  Jul 16, 2004 12:32:57 AM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

Very high-ranking sources assure me that certified giantess Michelle Forbes, the sexiest Bajoran alive, will play Warren Ellis’ brunette “Global Frequency” mastermind Miranda Zero.

Her lanky techie teen stooge, Aleph, will be essayed by Reminiesque Aimee Garcia, who was no less adorable as the nurse in “The Good Girl.”

The pilot shoots any day now. The series will air at midseason on the WB.

    I hope it works

I really enjoyed the comic, but putting it in network TV will tame it like I will tame all you filthy, disgusting, human worm babies.

Your Hollywood ways confuse me ...

    by creamery butter

Is it possible to have a show picked up for midseason without having shot a pilot yet? Indeed, if it is scheduled for midseason, why bother to shoot a pilot at all? Why not go straight to shooting the series? Actually, considering its chick-based sci-fi on WB (which has a great track record for it, including shows like Birds of Prey and Fearless) why not just cancel it before shooting the pilot?

    PERFECT Casting

    by batphantom

I can't think of a more perfect fit for Miranda Zero than Michelle Forbes. This could be one hell of a show. In Theory.

This will never air on the WB.

    by prof. pop-cult

It sounds like an intriguing show, but I've about given up on anything worthwhile ever airing on the broadcast networks.

The appeal of Global Frequency to TV Execs

    by jocutus

The concept must appeal to them because it offers things they always seem to demand from sci-fi shows. It has a small main cast (2 people?) so there's not a large, confusing ensemble for people to rememeber. It's really episodic so each week you get a full self-contained story. No need for airing episodes in a specific sequence or requiring viewers to be engaged in a season long story arc. It probably seems like the sci-fi/ action equivalent of Law&Order as far as they're concerened. Or a cross between L&O and 24 where each week there's a race against the clock to stop a global catastrophe. 2 main characters, a couple of guest agents and a guest villain. Unfortunately, to pull off some of the stuff that happens in the comic the budget might be a problem. The books reminded me of those BMW short films: a short story with few regular characters, a set deadline, a well defined goal and each done in a diferent style depending on the artist hired to finish the work. I hope it works 'cause if it is done well Glo Freq could be fun.

    Sexiest bajoran?

    by dvdfreakshow

Ro Laren over Leeta? Not only does Chase Masterson have a 24-hour "dumb as a stump, please have sex with me" face, but she actually HAS a chest. I'm just sayin ....

    My life sucks

    by dorfmaniacal

You know whats really depressing? Sitting at a desk at your boring job and reading that the girl who used to sit at the cubicle next to you (Aimee Garcia) is cast for another TV role after you laughed at her when she said she was going to Hollywood. I thought it was bad enough when I found out a loser friend of mine from college sold the screenplay for Harold and Kumar go to White Castle (and the bastard didn't include me in the movie after all the times I drove is stoned ass to the Castle) Bitter? a bit

    "You are on the Frequency..."

    by genericgeek

Kick ass news, Herc! I like Michelle Forbes a lot. Big disappointment that her participation in "24" was cut short. Also, I hope that in the GF show they keep the credits at the end, like in the comic, over the ultra-violent climax. Yeah, right.

    Screw the WB!

    by luvs269er

It won't matter who they cast or if this show ever airs. Hundreds of thousands of loyal WB watchers are no more! There are far too many TV choices now... Why waste time on one little network who could NOT give a RAT'S ASS about its viewers? Herc seems to be the only one still willing to SHILL for the WB... Which is surprising considering how poorly they treated one of his favs-- Joss Whedon. Seriously, why do you continue to flog this network's crap, Herc? Especially when a GREAT TALKBACK could have been had discussing the WB's fall media presentation-- where the exec's almost clearly admitted that they made a mistake by cancelling ANGEL, then openly wished they had a fan polarizing destination franchise show like BUFFY (which would be absolutely HILARIOUS if it wasn't already sickenly stupid... because they HAD a show like BUFFY... It was called ANGEL) and then-- at the very end-- tried to blame the entire fiasco on Whedon's studio, Fox? Why not a talkback on that... Or are you only going to leave us with the opportunity to make caustic comments about the WB's insanity during one of your innumerable WB show promo placements (clumsily disguised as a Talkback)? If that's the case-- and there's no REAL attempt at interactivity (just WB SHILLING) here... Then that just S-U-X!

    High ranking sources?

    by mad_radhu

Why don't you just say that you read it off of Bad Signal a few days ago, just like I did and cut the cloak and dagger pretense. It's not like Warren Ellis has been keeping the details of the casting and show production a big secret.

Now the WB Screws Amber Benson?!?

    by luvs269er

The following Dark Horizons report-- if even the least bit true-- just confirms my comments above and continues to make me wonder why Herc insists on being a one man WB Shilling Machine:

"The producer/showrunner of the upcoming comic based TV series Global Frequency has apparently been battling with WB Network executives for weeks in an attempt to get Amber Benson cast as Kate, a new role he created for the series. He has lost the battle, as of today. The WB allegedly refuses to allow him to cast Benson in the role. Why? Apparently it's because Amber played a lesbian on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If so, that's not just wrong but confusing (after all she played the character for two seasons with them before)."
