Wanna stalk the set of HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY' Shooting info here!!!

Published at:  Jul 08, 2004 6:32:08 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little fun info for you folks over in the UK who want to give the filmmakers of HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY a little headache. Hehe... If some of you should trek to this location, please do show the filmmakers some courtesy... Unless, of course, it looks like they're fucking this up. Then Viva La Resistance!!! From everything I've seen so far, though, it seems that everyone involved is bringing the proper respect to Douglas Adams' story to the table. Let's hope they make a great film!

Hi Harry,

A bit of info here for Hitch Hiker fans, particularly if you would
like to go and watch some filming.

Filming is continuing this week and next in Hertfordshire, England.

I went to visit my parents yesterday, in the tiny village of Hare
Street, near the town of Buntingford. They have received a short note,
warning them of disruption for 14 days, while Hitch Hikers uses a
nearby farm and the local village pub for filming.

Filming is currently taking place in a large farm, outside the
village, and moves to the pub next week. The locals have been told
that the pub interior will be used, and that the main road will be
blocked, as one scene involves a character spilling out of the pub
into the street.

The Pub is called The Beehive, and it is located on a small country
road, which acts as an intersection for Buntingford, Braughing, Hare
Street village and Brent Pelham. The pub is a very old, wooden beamed
traditional English pub (recently up for sale).

One mile south of Hare Street (on the Braughing Road) the large farm
can be seen about a mile away in the easterly hills. At its gates are
some very strange futuristic type banners. As you drive past the
private lane that leads to the farm, there is a small discreet Red
arrow with “HH” on it, to help the crew find the site.

Interesting enough, this area around Hare Street was also used by Mr
Spielberg for many of the country scenes in Saving Private Ryan.

I may try and get up there with my camera. I hope the info is of use!

Thanks

Si

I seem to keep getting my posts rejected.

    Finally got it to work.

I hope that this movie leads to getting "Life, the Universe and Everything." getting made.

I've got my fingers crossed for this

  • you need bit torrent, but I got them a few days ago and breezed through about 7 episodes in one day. If you think you know Hitchhikers from reading the book --- you pretty much know the radio play. But not really. There's some big and subtle differences in there. So if there's some differences in the movie, I'm cool with that too. http://66.90.75.92/suprnova//torrents/1949/Hitchhikers%20Guide%20Radio%20Play.torrent

Argh, I knew I should have taken the A1(M) back up through Hertfordshire home rather than the M11. Nothing ever gets filmed around the Suffolk village I live in... except a few episodes of Dad's Army back in the 70s.

  • I'm a huge fan of the books so in hoping that all the books get made into films, I hope it does well in Europe because beyond other fans of the books, I don't see an audience for this in the US. Sad to admit but true. No big stars, small budget, way too much narrative and too isoteric for most American audiences. So I hope the Brits shell out enough yen or wampum or whatever you people use as currency (just kidding) to get it at least as far as Life, the Universe and Everything.

    so they're shooting in England?

    by joe brady

Too bad. I was hoping they'd transplant the whole story to the Marcy projects in New York, with Dave Chapelle as Arthur, Eddie Griffin as Zaphod Beeblebrox, Mya as Trillian, and uh... who could play Ford Prefect? Oh, I know, Mos Def.
