That MTV BLADE: TRINITY clip plus a Japanese I, ROBOT trailer that puts the US trailers to shame!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with some upcoming movie footage for your viewing pleasure. First up is a link to where you can see the first bit of the third film in the BLADE saga, BLADE: TRINITY!

Hey, Harry, there's a clip from blade 3 up over at movie box. Here's the link.

Just call me Sic Darko!

I'm not sure what to think of that bit. I trust in Goyer to know the character and to know how to direct (go check out his ZIGZAG if you doubt his ability as a director)... I like the style of Jessica Biel's character so far... We'll see. I'm pulling for this one to be yet another kick-ass installment to the BLADE saga so far.

Now on with a damn fine Japanese trailer for I, ROBOT. I'm going to go against the stream and say I'm really looking forward to this film. But then again I am not at all familiar with Asimov's original book, so I have no way of telling if this is a shitty adaptation or not... Anyway, check out the trailer and just see if a little flicker of hope doesn't spring up deep down in your belly.

No lame voiceovers, pure editing talent. When is the US ever go

    by Alcamaeon

Case in Point: JUON trailer. The US trailer suck balls. The Japanese trailer on the other hand will scare your pants off.

    Looked goooooooood

    by fred12345

Wow, that was far less sucky than the US one, I'm looking forward to this move now.

    Jessical Biel freaking sucks people

    by krims0nknite

Why do they keep casting her in semi-big movies? stop the madness! NONE of her parts are memorable! She is easily forgettable, because she brings nothing interesting to any of the roles she plays.

  • June 14, 2004, 6:24 a.m. CST

Listen.....or read since I'm not saying anything.

    by ELGordo

All the trailers are cut in the US. They are just cut to reflect on the speciffic markets. So you see how the marketing people persieve the US market. We need constant action, one liners and money shots to get our buts in the seats and the Japanese and the rest of the world needs actual substance and mood. The US=simpletons. The rest of the world=People that actually think when they go to the movies. As for the Blade 3 clip. Looks good aside from the fact that they have edited it for content because it ran on MTV.

    I, Robot = I, Hollywood Hackjob

    by dudemanguy

this movie has fuck-all to do with Asimov. I have nothing against action movies, hell I'll go see anything with an explosion and a few car chases, but don't pretend that you can pass this garbage off as something Isaac Asimov wrote. I read 'I, Robot', and this Sir is no fucking 'I, Robot'. Hollywood makes me want to puke...

The Japanese I, ROBOT trailer ...

    by godoffireinhell

... looks good. Problem is that the various US trailers already showed that there will be horribly annoying "Big Willy Style" moments in the film so no matter how cool new trailers will make the new film look, they're all lying and won't convince me. The design of the car looks like shit, by the way. Who came up with this crap? Proyas needs to get his shit together, stop this sellout bullshit and finally get BERSERKER (based on the Saberhagen books) off the ground!

  • June 14, 2004, 1:10 p.m. CST

    by CurryIce

All the Japanese trailers would also work perfectly(or even better) in the us market but why are they edited differently from the US for the Asian or international market??? Cultural differences as a reason is NOT really convincing...oh BTW, how's the Japanese trailer for Spiderman2(if there is one)? Can't imagine a better trailer than this...

  • Basically, the book contains the adventures of a couple of scientists who are good friends. They grow old together travelling the solar system and helping out with robot psychology and figuring out what went wrong when the machines seemingly defy the Three Laws of Robotics. There could have been some amazing set pieces including a runaway rocket, the surface of Mercury, and a robot revolt on a space station. It's a shame they took MIB III and digitally swapped the aliens for robots and slapped on Asimov's title. Now I know how the Tolkien geeks must feel. FUCK YOU Hollywood! This movie won't even be worth a free download, much less a movie ticket.

I hope they edit out most, if not all, of Will Smith's wisecrack

    by Jim Jam Bongs

...I can accept him in this role as long as he plays it straight. This movie, and his career, would not at all benefit from his wisecrack remarks. This Japanese version of the trailer gives me hope that Proyas is editing the final movie to be this way.

    Man Will Smith simply...

    by UrethraFranklin

...Kills me. He's got some serious acting chops, really he does! But the dumb bastard keeps rehashing Independence Day and Bad Boys! Every good actor is given allowances on the token crap, devoid-of-substance, roller coaster ride, but c'mon! I GOTTA GET ME WUNNA DEEZE! Shit man. There's going to be time when he's going to want to be taken seriously, and no one is going to give damn. Hell no one gives a damn now!

The action in that Blade clip looks clunky...

    by Prof. Pop-Cult

I highly enjoyed the first two. Not sure if I'm looking forward to this one.

    VERY GOOD I, Robot trailer...

    by PushTheButton

Now it makes me think the movie will only disappoint, rather than suck.

  • Do not think for a moment that the finished product will look like that.

    Japanese Trailers

    by BMXbandit

iamarayya is right - this does look too much like the Animatrix ep. I saw this version of the trailer in Tokyo and was amazed at how good it made the movie look. It's a damn shame Will Smith is in it. As for the Spiderman2 trailer the Japanese version I saw in Tokyo the other night wasn't as good as the latest full trailer Usually the Japanese trailers look like garbage (mainly if they have been edited in Japan)

    Blade trailer looks lame.

    by ComicBookGeek77

That trailer sucked people. What's up with Blade's red undershirt underneath his body armor? That's pretty lame. Looked like a typical, piece of shit, USA network generic action flick. Jessica Biel is way overhyped. As soon as she agrees to do a nude scene maybe I'll perk up, until then, feh.

No, Blade 3 really does look lame...

    by TheFastTheFurion

That clip was terrible. Goyer has no visual flair, and this movie will pale next to the look of norrington's and del toro's. Everything from the choreography, to the lighting, to the set design, to the other characters (biehl and reynolds, why?) to the editing, to that horrible CG at the end, just goes to show that a terrible screenwriter does not a good director make.

    I, Robot Screenplay

    by RealDoubleJ

Sadly, it is quite apparent that 'I, Robot' has nothing to do with the book as the script Fox used was kicked around for a decade or so under the name of 'Hardwired' however it's believed that since Wired magazine is suing anyone who uses 'Wired' in the title of products (and succesfully too) they decided to incorporate Jeff Vintar's screenplay with Akiva Goldsman's (yes THAT Akiva Goldsman) us a film that because it has no relation to the novel, Asimov's writing credits for the film is followed by '(Suggested by book)'. However, people complain that Asimov's vision never contained robots going crazy and "kill all humans"...well it did, the novel 'The Caves of Steel' where NYPD detective Elijah Bailey investigates the death of a famous roboticist. So why not make that instead? Because Universal Studios have got the rights and also to the Bailey sequels. Asimov's estate gave their blessing to this film saying something to the degree of "It's the tenth story of 'I, Robot' that was never written but was never seen...until now" yet isn't it funny how the only 'I, Robot' screenplay that Asimov himself endorsed, saying that it truly captured his vision of the world of I, Robot, will never be made. Harlan Ellison's screenplay not only was a faithful adaptation of all 9 short stories brought to the big screen through the adventures of Dr. Susan Calvin (who isn't reduced to a Will Smith love interest) but had the workings of being one of the greatest science fiction films ever made....without guns, without big fuck-off model/cgi battles, without any elements of a summer blockbuster on the scale of 'Star Wars' and with that the screenplay was rejected. The screenplay is available in book form with illustrations by Mark Zug off for $10 (

OK, the fighting looked great. The CGI didnt. Reminded me of the poo digital SFX in Blade 2. Lets hope that wasnt the final version eh??? But's ONLY A FILM!!!!!

  • June 15, 2004, 6:10 a.m. CST

    Goyer's direction lacks style.

    by Darksider

Both visually and from an action stand point. I've always liked the Blade films for that. Whatever your opinions of Norrington or Del Toro, they both had a visual sense. And the action was usually top notch. This looks like generic Hong Kong choppy action choreograpy. The shot of Blade landing on the sidewalk looked like shit. Like facial hair though. At least Snipes still looks badass. I hope this wont be the last one.

Hey Orion, What episode of Angel was that?

    by Blok Narpin

I have every Angel on DVD or tape and never saw the one with the bloodbath and techno music. Never saw a cheesy one, either. As for Blade Trinity, as long as it's better then Blade II, I'm happy.

    well u have to remember...

    by DjBliss04

i realize that this is not lookin TOO great but one thing 1.The clip has to be edited for tv which means that a lot of the main violence has to be cut out coz of the FCC(which i dislike). So i doubt that the final cut will look like that. But i do like the jump at the end.

  • June 15, 2004, 5:30 p.m. CST

Hey, what's so bad about the Blade III footage??? I thought it was pretty excellent. I'm psyched for the movie. What were you guys expecting? This is a movie...about Wesley Snipes...kicking truckloads of ass. From this preview, the film looks to succeed! This has renewed my confidence in mcgdo Goyer as a director.

  • June 15, 2004, 7:42 p.m. CST

    The US vs. The World

    by Lion Fire

Okay. I agree with the comment about the US Trailers needing "Constant Action, One Liners, and Money Shots" for the MAJORITY of the US Audience. The lil kiddies that are out of school for summer and the brain dead soccer moms who are scrambling to do something with thier overworked husbands. However there are quite a few people in the US who DO want substance that doesn't rely on 2Fast2Furious Mindless Action or Rediculous Chick Flick Comedic-Try Hard/teenie bopper movies. As far as Blade 3 goes, God I love the Blade movies, the first Blade was great, the 2nd wasn't as good as the first but still had some cool moments, but I am sorry to say after seeing that trailer it most definately was a very VERY loose/uncoordinated/herky jerky fight scene and why in the blue hell did they cast Jessica Biel!? Brain dead chick flick, Maybe. Straight to Video, Certainly. But an Action movie? Uh no. As far as the lame ass Robot movie. I can sleep at home instead of paying $Cash$ to sleep in a movie theatre.

  • June 15, 2004, 10:05 p.m. CST

Jesus fucking christ! I guess people don't think anymore.

    by ELGordo

To the man who said that he didn't buy that MTV edit angle. I guess you have no idea how the TV censors work. But I guess they could have chosen another scene that wouldn't be edited as this one was. AND THIS WASN'T A TRAILER!!!! IT'S A FUCKING BADLY CENSORED CLIP. BIG FUCKING DIFFERENCE.

    Blade 3 Clip/Whatever

    by Lion Fire

Yes. Call it whatever you want. But it still gave a very good idea of how it was shot/edited and it left me empty. But I'm still going to see it regaurdless because the Blade movies rock. Hopefully that clip will not be an accurate portrayal of the actual film.

    ID4 And Bad Boys Rock

    by Miami'sCanadian

Thats to the dumb fuck who said they were pieces of crap. Will Smith got in famous as an action star and he'll most likely be one for the next few years. The action film has chanegd ever since a highly talented actor named Nic Cage was in "The Rock" and isntead of having large people from other countries who we can barely understand, we have well acted films. You dont like Bad Boys or ID4 cause they're not serious enough,w ell they're action films dummy! Its like me going into Dead Poets Society and complaining theres not enough nucelar explosions or heads blown off. And I'm not some fanboy kid, I'm someone who went to a pretentious film school and now work on a cruise ship.

  • June 17, 2004, 8:13 p.m. CST

    by WaterSoluable

Don't worry about Blade you're probably just seeing a very temp, untimed rough cut of the sequence ... which brings up a better point: why put out something that looks so crappy? Just to get people talking!
