QT Is Finally Doing KILLSHOT'!

Published at:  Jun 07, 2004 3:06:46 AM CDT

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...

That’s what this guy claims:

Robert Kelley here, the guy that wrote you from Cannes.

I just thought I would let you know that I found out at Cannes that one of Quentin Tarintino's next projects will be Killshot, the Elmore Leonard novel. He said he is not directing it but is writing it and is going to act in it alongside David Carradine. My guess is that someone like Rodriguez will direct it. This was confirmed by Quentin, Lawrence Bender and David Carradine. I also got confirmed by Bender that they have given up the rights to Freaky Deaky and Bandits, two other Leonard projects they acquired with Killshot and Rum Punch(Jackie Brown) back in '95.

Hmmmm... the idea of QT handing this off to someone else to direct with him and Carradine starring... I don’t know what I think of that. He’s had these rights for a lot of years, so if he’s going to finally get off his butt and do something with them, I’m excited. And anything that gives Carradine another great role in the wake of KILL BILL is okay by me.

"Moriarty" out.

The more I see QT act in, the more I like him. Killshot needs to be a movie, so bring it on!

    QT is a horrid actor.

    by pogo on my own

That and I dont believe Kill Bill 2 set the box office on fire, why does this man still get so much respect from Pulp Fiction. He makes niche movies for film geeks.

Bender's Got an Artistic Screw Loose

    by tres skeek

He's had a perfectly AWESOME draft of KILLSHOT, written by none other than that guy that wrote "THE USUAL SUSPECTS" for, like, three years.

I for one would love to see QT direct someone else's script, just to shake things up a bit and bring a sense of collaboration to his work.

And trust me, the second draft of McQuarrie's KILLSHOT script rivals OUT OF SIGHT for the best Elmore Leonard adaptation yet.

Of course, no one involved has the sack to admit it.

Sounds like a load of BULLSHIT to me...

    by darth sticky

Whoever scooped this piece of shit bit of "news" sounds like he's full of shit. He probably watched the second disc of Jackie Brown and came up with this bunch of horsepucky. I can't imaging Quentin doing anything for the next four years. I still can't believe it took him this long to do Kill Bill...but hey...I'm grateful for whatever he's put out. I can watch it over and over and over again and its just as good as the first time. OH...and can anyone answer for me WHAT IS THE STATUS OF INGLORIOUS BASTARDS and are there anymore solid Quentin + JAMES BOND RUMORS?!?!?!

    don't you just think

    by hud

that Shane Black looks at Quentin Tarantino and dies a bit from envy every time? QT added a video back catalog to Shane's schtick and ran all the way to the bank with it, with occasional stops at the Hollywood fleshpots.

    by raylangivens

Quentin needs to do Freaky Deaky because it is the better of the two books, but then again I have faith in him... he does "Kill Shot" and I'm the first in line. Faith in proven genius filmmakers... that's why Pogo on his own pogos on his own. Don't diss "Kill Bill Vol. 2" cause you don't get it. I also would like to throw a vote towards "Way of the Gun" kicking ass in an underrated way... anyone who disagrees, all I have to say is... "You wanna do the man dance? First dance is yours."

As okay as Carradine was ...

    by riskebiz

Warren Beatty would have ruled as Bill. When I think of Beatty giving the Superman speech at the end of KB2 ... as good as Carradine was ... Beatty would have been gleefully fantastic head and shoulders above Carradine's performance.

    What's this?

    by childe roland

Tarantino stepping back from the overblown, hype-fueled, geek-feeding machine he's become and getting back to writing? Could it be possible that he's beginning to recall the basic features of his father's face? My largest criticisms of Tarantino have been as a director, where he comes off as a child with too many toys at his disposal. He is typically so caught up in the "wouldn't it be neat/funny/cool?" question concerning the incidentals of his narratives that he loses sight of the story and the characters that are supposed to drive them. He was always at his best when he was focused on writing like his work on True Romance or Crimson Tide (although his very plot and character dialogue driven Reservoir Dogs is an outstanding film, probably because he was not yet a believer in his own infallibility and didn't indulge himself uite as much as he did with, say, Kill Bill). As for his acting, I look at it as a direct extension of his "look at me" complex and it is usually tolerable if kept to a minimum in a movie he is not also directing (I found his moments in Desperado, for example, quite amusing). This news gives me hope for Quentin. Maybe not doing so well with his latest mastubatory opus has taught him that he needs to rediscover his roots and start being involved in good film again, even at the risk of injuring his own ego.

QT should stay away from major acting roles

    by bobby_horsepower

Tarantino is an extremely gifted director and writer, but a pretty awkward actor. Any news on new Tarantino projects is always cool news to me, but everytime I hear he's acting in it.....I cringe slightly. Let's hope he has a smaller role.

    Casino Royale Petition

    by luciusgore

There's a petition to have Quentin Tarantino direct the 21st Bond film, and have it be an adaptation of Ian Fleming's Casino Royale. Tarantino has expressed interest in making the movie, but producers don't want him apparently. Here it is:

  • Man, Quentin is retarded sometimes. He has all this talent but has also the attention span of a monkey. Can you imagine if Kill Bill had not had retarded writing and had actually a decent story to it instead of adolescent fantasies?
