New Whedon Series In The Works'''
Only the Mighty Hercules could get this excited about Nick Brendon mumbling the word “brothers” under his breath.
If anyone at this Cleveland con was standing closer to the public address speakers, kindly write in and explain what young Nicholas was on about.
I went to the Cleveland Slayer Convention this weekend and thought you might want to hear some news.
Nick Brendon did a Q/A and let slip that Joss is working on another show. When asked what it was called he mumbled something like "Brothers" but then said he didn't know. He also said that a Buffy movie is going to happen it's just a question of when. I also found it strange that he mentioned a Buffy cartoon that has Allison, Anthony and him doing voices that might be picked up soon. I thought the Buffy cartoon was dead...?
Mercedes McNab said that Angel is dead as an ongoing series but she did hear about the TV movies. She even started to cry when talking about the shows end.
Anthony Head talked about Whedon and him doing a spin off called Ripper. He said that he and Joss talk about it every time they see each other. It is supposed to start off as a 2 hour TV movie.
Morena Baccarin said that the Firefly movie would start filming in June and that you would get more back story on Inara and Book. She also said that as far as she knows everyone is back for the movie.

The 'Buffy' cartoon has been dead forever. I've been reading about the 'Ripper' spinoff for the past few years mainly as a BBC limited episode series but does anyone really believe that is ever going to happen even though I really wish it would. I'm also not convinced we're ever going to see one much less six Angel movies. If there is any truth to that 'Brothers' series it sounds more like Brendon pitching an idea to Whedon to star Brendon and his twin brother in a series

Xander gets hit again with that demon laser thing and is split in two. He and his doppelganger spend their time trying to bring Anya back to life and give her one of her wishes, Xander action x 2. The Cleveland Slayer Con was hosted by vulkon conventions, www.vulkon.com. You can find out about others usually through the actor's site who you want to see, like james marsters usually has a listing of where he'll be as does tara. I'm surprised no one mentioned that Xander said he just got out of rehab for drinking. He seemed twitchy on stage. All of the actors were very cool and gracious though.

They are again reporting over at Dark Horizons that there will in fact be six Angel TV movies, the first of which will debut in September. They are saying Faith will be in the first one. This really does verify Herc's report that Angel will end the series in a huge cliffhanger. If this proves to be true, it's a really smart move by WB. It allows them to open the schedule for the new show they want while still providing 12 hours of Angel for the fans.

Firefly the movie has to be rated R... for violence and nudity, cause everyone knows they swear in a language that doesn't get censored or warrant an R rating.

buffy comes back as -- you guessed it -- a puppet! then spike and angel turn into puppets and they, along with kermit and his crew, take the fight to sesame street for the ultimate battle* vs big bird and snuffleufflegus. weedon should smoke more and maybe, just maybe, he would be able to come up with a non-puppet plot. note: * designates that ultimate battle will take place in widescreen on the most dramatic network on tv, the double-double-double-double-double-U-B !!

In case Herc doesn't post this: For what it's worth, here's my review of "Way Off Broadway" with Morena Baccarin from Firefly. I saw it in conjunction with the vulkon convention for Buffy/Angel/Firefly this past weekend. Way Off Broadway is a damned fine attempt from a first time film director/writer. It's even pretty good considering the crap coming from the Hollywood studio grind these days. I'd recommend it for some funny jokes, compelling acting and the beautiful and extremely talented Morena Baccarin. She laughs, she cries and she has sex, a lot. She's not nude (although her breasts look great and possibly braless throughout), but there is nudity, both female and male. The nudity is humorous, so it doesn't seem gratuitous. The plot is contrived, but the characters are fun and likeable. The first 10 minutes is a little slow (for someone like me with ADD), but for the rest of the movie I didn't look at my watch and I actually laughed out loud on several occasions. The only thing I would recommend when watching, is that you don't sit right up front in the theater. The film was shot on 16mm and blown up to 35mm for theatrical distribution, so the close ups are too close and the moving shots are too fast, if you're sitting close to the screen.

Maybe that'll be his new thing, just coming up with ideas but never fully developing em to fruition, like the cartoon and Ripper, and did that Fray series ever finish? I don't really see a Buffy movie happening anytime soon either, I dunno why, just a hunch.

Don't assume that a cartoon would be a Buffy cartoon just because Allison, Nick and Tony work together on it. The Gargoyles cartoon of the mid 1990s incorporated a lot of the 'crew' from ST:TNG. Brent Spiner, Jonathon Frakes, Marina Sirtis & Michael Dorn.

The nude pics look nice, although a bit over-processed like most playboy pictures (seriously the fakes are becoming more real looking). But can someone explain to me though the logic of when these people all over the net have to put their little scan logo or identification/water marks/ borders on pictures. I've never understood this. What is the point? It's like, "Hey! Look at me! Sure, you can pick one up for 40 bucks easy too but I have a SCANNER! ME! You couldn't scan something out of a magazine like I did!" I always wish I could scream back, "Yeah, you have a scanner, and I have photoshop and removed your stupid fucking signature crap." Just like when some lame fan sites have the same batch of promo pictures and stuff scanned out of magazines everyone else has yet scream "Don't STEAL my pictures!!! Ask me before you use them! AND credit me!" Like they had fuck all to do with ANY of it. Original art or photo manips, okay... but some pictures from magazines or books or shit from the offical web-site? Fuck that.

I've never seen a single episode of Buffy, nor do I want to, but I hope this series is titled "Killing the Fat Fuck" and consists of three episodes: - The Abduction: Whedon is kidnapped by a group of masked men, roughed up and beaten for an hour. - The Interrogation: Whedon is gagged and tortured for an hour with a variety of tools, such as a Bosch drill, a blowtorch, a screwdriver, a nutcracker, a car battery... - The Justice: the fun continues, and finally Whedon dies. The men remove masks, revealing themselves to be Aliens, still extremely pissed off after seeing Alien: Resurrection.

Is it only me who wonders why WB would CANCEL a show only to agree to renegotiate to make 12 hours more of it. Is it so they can ditch a lot of the cast and make it Angel/Spike and some Buffy people showing up. Why not make a half-season of 2-parters, and then they could show them as they want, as a season or as movies. To me - THIS MAKES NO SENSE.

SalvatoreGravano: If all you've seen of Whedon's work is Alien Resurrection then I don't really think you can legitimatly diss him. Whedon himself said that movie was horrible and shed a few tears at the premiere because they hacked his work so much. Watch an episode of Buffy/Angel/Firefly then make your decision. I think we all know Alien Resurrection was horrible. On another topic: How long has this Ripper thing been in the works? I agree with whoever said Whedon talks about whatever ideas cross his mind, get his fans excited and then we wait for months or years till this actually sees the light of day.

If you read any interviews with Joss he hates Alien resurection, made him give up doing any film he didn't have control over. They basically brought in other writers and butchered his script .. as far as Angel the only resaon it was cancel was due to Dark Shadows, which I will not be watching

A thought just occured to me when I watched Angel on TNT. Was Conner headed to the proposed Faith spinoff that never got off the ground? They developed a relationship between Conner and Faith. They wrote Conner off Angel. Perhaps Conner was supposed to go through that change and end up on the Faith spinoff with no memories of his past life ...

I remember reading the original script on the net, and aside from one or two action beats it was fairly similar. And there are a few very cool action beats / quirky lines in the first 2 acts. But when the Newborn hits the stage ... yes, the Newborn IS Whedon's concept, but in his script its like a spider / alien thing that doesn't talk, crawls around and doesn't have puppy dog eyes and says mommy. You can blame our AMELIE directing friend for that one. And yah, I don't watch Buffy or Angel (Firefly was pretty cool) but I think the first 2 acts of Alien Resurrection are actually pretty decent. Its only a mis-managed crappy ending that really tanks the movie because that ending is SO ... FUCKING ... BAD.
