Bloody as hell maggotty fun trailer for GINGER SNAPS 3

Published at:  Apr 15, 2004 7:55:48 AM CDT

Harry here... so this one looks like GINGER SNAPS meets BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF... Seriously - check it out. Personally I like the first two, this one looks fun too. Unfortunately it's probably just straight to DVD in the U.S. Here ya go...

Hey Harry, the Ginger Snaps 3 trailer is up at the following site. I don't exactly know how this fits in with the other 2 movies because this one takes place 200 years ago. But it looks fucking awesome. The special effects are the best yet for this series and from the looks of it, it's gonna be as good as the first two if not better because this one has chicks making out, and that's always a plus.

    Looks pretty good actually.

    by stewiegriffin

Didn't care much for the first one, maybe I need to see it again. Never heard of the second one, but this looks cool. SOOOOOOOOOO f***ing glad to see they used real make up fx for the wolves instead of cg crap, they get props for that alone. Film makers need to use more make up fx guys and limit the cg to stuff that make up can't cover. Most cg creatures still look fake to me.

Ginger Snaps 2:Unleashed, came out on DVd here in the states this past Tuesday. I picked it up at Best Buy. It's OK, the character of Ghost is kinda' cool, but it's not nearly as good as the original. It lacks a lot of the unique little twists as the first one, and there's definitely not enough Katherine Isabelle in it.

I really enjoyed the first Ginger Snaps with it's snarky Buffyesque dialog and unique take on the werewolf genre. Great art? No - but good fun and they did an amazing job considering the 79

    Ginger Snaps rules supreme!

    by genericgeek

The first GS is one of my all-time favorite horror flicks, and GS2 is a very respectable sequel; granted, not as good (mainly hurt for its low budget), but with kick-ass acting and a truly balls-out freak ending. So, really looking forward to number 3. And yeah, K. Isabelle is hot, but I'm oddly attracted to Bridget. She's hot!

Please, tell me what it would be like to have hulk hogan as a zombie? Brains, delicious brains brother!!! p.s. Harry loves suckling on the orangish cock of his orangutan father just about as much as giving overly good reviews to shitty movies! p.p.s. best song line ever: you're a stupid mothafucker tryin to run, now you're dead as fuck tryin to race a gun. Both sequels were filmed at the same time

    by anakinskg1

They were both filmed in late '02 and early '03 in my great white north home town of Edmonton, AB. Which means both are Canadian and therefore the low budget. I saw GS2 in theatres last year. I thought it was okay. Not enough gore or images of the wolf. Hopefully, the third one will be better.

Snaps refers to what happens when you go from human to wolf

    by drestin black

Obviously some idiots didn't even watch the first one before slamming this one. The original Ginger Snaps was very original and crafty and well written (by a woman). It avoided almost all the hollywood cliches. I think it was a fantastic film.

I didn't rent it, though. I rented American Splendor, instead. On to more pressing issues. Who thinks Harry should be physically harmed for reappropriating Wallace and Gromit's style for use in promoting his own disgusting effigy?

    by half vader

In Buffy they say cool one-liners and self-aware zingers. All the time. In the first Ginger Snaps they said stuff trying (but not necessarily succeeding) to sound cool. Just like real high-school life. That was so refreshing for me and played nicely off the freaky stuff, not to mention being much less clich

    Both 1&2 are excellent, if...

    by ron2112

...you know what kind of movie you're in for. It's not horror based on what the next gross-out special effect will be, or who's creeping up on the main character in that cliched over-the-right-shoulder POV shot. Instead it's highly character- and dialog-driven. It's female-empowerment horror in a way. Certain elements of the horror fanbase are bound to turn their noses up at that kind of thing.

The first was quite remarkable, I thought. The whole "lycanthropy as menstrual metaphor" angle was very creative. Yeah, the werewolf itself didn't look that great but you didn't see it that much anyway. They did great work with what they had and covered well for what they didn't.

The second was far better than I had expected. The characters and dialog are just as well-written, just as darkly humorous. And again, the film invests its story in those elements rather than the next big scare. It's sort of "American Werewolf in London" meets "Girl, Interrupted." I'm sure that description is bound to turn on a lot of talk-backers. :| Not.

The US DVD of GS2 contains a widescreen transfer, commentary, and other special features (including the GS3 trailer, which I haven't gotten to on the disc yet) so I don't think there will be any need to hunt down the Canadian edition like with GS1.

With two really fine films behind it (or ahead of it, depending on your point of view) I'm pretty optimistic about GS3. The drastic shift in setting has me wary, but I'm taking a wait-and-see as far as that goes. All I know is, the day it's out on DVD, it's mine.

Out by 16, or dead in the scene...

    by zer0cool2k2

Yes, the dialogue wasn't quite as snappy as "Buffy", but was truer to real life teens. ..... As far as the title, I guess not everyone wants a clever paly on words. The typical moviegoer of course wants the premise and the ending of the movie included in the title, along with who the main character is. ("Ginger & Bridget: Canadian Girls of Mystery in The Period that Killed Me"). ........And as far as the creatures go, I guess it's too bad they didn't have a big Hollywood budget, look at what a Great movie Van Helsing is going to be, based mainly on it's awesome CGI Wolfman. Yep, nothing but positive predictions for that one around here. Besides, I'm sure in a few years McG or Stephen Sommers or somebody will remake Ginger Snaps with a big budget and Hillary & Hayley Duff (or maybe the Olsen Twins). ......hmmmmmmmm

    Trailer

    by zer0cool2k2

Actually, I think the trailer IS on the special edition (Canadian I'm guessing) DVD that is available. It's not on the Lion's Gate release that we got here in the states though. I've seen the other one on Ebay though. I did splurge on the fancy schmancy version of the first movie, but I'll probably stick with the version I got at Best Buy for part 2.

The GS3 trailer is on the DVD I just bought tonight, but it's the Canadian edition. And it's loaded with extras, too. But, apart from the packaging (the US version has a different cover), I think these might be the same, content-wise.

The trailer is on the first page of special features, at the bottom. "Ginger Snaps Back trailer".

    Canadian SE vs. US?

    by ron2112

So what does the Canadian edition have that the US doesn't? The US has (I'm going by memory here, forgive me if I miss something):

    > widescreen transfer
    > commentary
    > deleted scenes
    > storyboards
    > Brigitte's notebook
    > Ghost's comics
    > three trailers (behind the Lion's Gate logo)

I think that's it. None of the three trailers is for GS3.
