GALACTICA!! ALIAS!! DS9!! OSBOURNES!! Monday Strong Box!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
* HATCH OPEN TO GALACTICA. Scifiwire.com reports that Richard Hatch, an original “Battlestar Galactica” regular who has long been critical of Scifi Channel’s new “Galactica” series, is almost signed to play a guest role on the new series. Hatch, busy with a litany of straight-to-video projects like “Iron Thunder” and “Big Shots” in recent years, has long lobbied for a rival “Galactica” series that would return him to the role of Capt. Apollo. “I never personally held anything against him for what he said about the miniseries or the direction of the show,” noted “Galactica” showrunner Ronald D. Moore. “He was entitled to his opinion. He felt passionately they should have done a coninuation and he fought long and hard for it. Ultimately, it didn't work out.” Read the whole story here.
* NINERS TO SPIKE. Speaking of Ron Moore, the series on which he long labored, and labored mightily, "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," debuts on Spike TV today with a weeklong marathon. Episodes will run noon to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday.
* ALIAS 4.0. Jennifer Garner tells zap2it.com that “Alias" will definitely be back for a fourth season this autumn. “We are coming back for next year, which we are thrilled about,” Garner says. “I don't know if it's been announced, but I'll be back. We hired new writers, we hired new cast members, so it's happening.” Read the whole story here.
* DADDY’S GIRL. For those who missed “Larry King Live” on Friday, Sharon Osbourne revealed that daughter Kelly has, like brother Jack the year before, entered rehab. She has reportedly developed a painkiller habit. “The Osbournes” returns to MTV Tuesday at 10:30 p.m.

Uh, gee. I sure didn't see that coming.

Glad to know that ALIAS is back for another season, which means I can relax about one more show following the demise of ANGEL and THE SIMPSONS' 16th season possibly being delayed due to a cast strike. And hey, any true Niner knows that the only way to watch DS9 is on DVD...
-
...known as Sci-Fi channel's "Battlestar Galactica."
-
Well new writers might not be a bad thing as Alias always needs to stay fresh. Sark and Evil Lauren have already grown old (actually, Sark has been dull for a while, they need to kill him off). But Greg Grunberg is going to another show? Dang, I guess they aren't going to do more with Weiss then. It's too bad that they've got a ton of cool but underused characters playing second (or third) fiddle to Jennifer Garner's pouting lips. I like her, but the show has other worthwhile actors, it should use them. If Lena Olin won't come back as Irina, recast her with Barbara Hershey! The character is crucial, it shouldn't be held up because the actress has decided she doesn't want to do it anymore. And bring back Isabella Rossellini, Jack has been without action for too damned long!
-
"Battlestar Galactica will debut first quarter of 2005." ... 2005, whats the hold up?
-
Well, I'll not fault you; Bauer's the baddest of all Jacks, it's true. :^)
-
Ahhh... Iron Thunder. Hatch at his best. Good to see the mention.

FAR OUT!: Farscape is returning home to the Sci Fi Channel. The cabler has finalized a deal to air Farscape: Peacekeeper War, the highly anticipated four-hour miniseries that will tie up all the loose ends left dangling when the network axed the acclaimed drama last year. The project has already wrapped production and is slated to air at the end of the year.

Whatever you do, forget the Rimbaldi shit. Keep it a fairly straight spy/intrigue show. You want fantastic weapons: do like my man Bond does and have supervillians using a little thing called MODERN technology, not some old DaVinci ripoff.
-
"This new Battlestar Galactica, which I haven't seen yet, sucks...This new Battlestar Galactica that was on last night sucks, but can see that many of you fans liked it...I can't wait to get a guest-spot on this new Battlestar Galactica..."
-
Well, it does.

www.sonypictures.com/tvondvdpoll Sorry for the off-topic, but I had to at least TRY to get in a plug for this... Sony Pictures is conducting another online poll of what TV series should be issued on DVD, and "Action," is among them. This completely genius Fox series I believe is the most unfairly short-lived show of the past ten years (no offense to either "My So-Called Life" or "Freaks and Geeks"). So go to the address and and VOTE NOW!!! There'll be some stiff competition, although not from ALL of the other candidates ("The Single Guy?" RIGHT) There are a few shows in contention I honestly don't think I've ever even heard of ("Street Time?" "Going to California?" When did THOSE even air?) I'm surprised that "Maude" hasn't been issued on DVD already, since most of the other major Norman Lear shows from that era ("All in the Family," "Good Times," "Sandford & Son," "The Jeffersons") are already being released. And I know that both "I Dream of Jeannie" and "The Flying Nun" have considerable cult followings, so... Still, the one I personally have the biggest issue with is "Get a Life." Forget that I never got why so many people liked the show (I just thought it was lame and not funny), but it's already available on DVD! Okay, not in season sets, but still... NO FAIR! Not a level playing field, people. So please I urge everyone to cut-and-paste the above address and vote for "Action." Vote for "ACTION!!" VOTE FOR "ACTION!!!" Thank you.

FARSCAPE IS BACK!!! Yea, it's on Sci-Fi, but Frell it! Scape is back! Err, the title "Peace Keeper War" for the mini-series kinda throws me off, but I am sure it will rock. Dren! I missed Scape. Possibly bring back the whole series if the mini-series does well? Movie?

I'd still fuck Kelly six ways from Sunday. Sharon too. Oh, and that nanny too. The blonde one with the big tits. Peace Out.

Good thing she's in rehab just in time for the new season
by insane tiki
Boy, that's great timing, isn't it? The kind of story that Entertainment Tonight or E! will be covering non-stop, and then at the end...
"...don't forget to catch the new season of the hit show 'The Osbournes' starting this Tuesday!"
I'm sure Kelly's publicist is ecstatic. -
go to that sony survey and vote for GET A LIFE dvd. now that's a brilliant show. Chris Elliot is comic gold in it.
-
just why the fuck would they be hiring new writers for alias? did i miss something? has the show not been consistently brilliant? i see no need for new writers. on another not, just why the hell are they introducing a sister for sydney? i thought the father/only daughter dynamic worked very well.
-
Hey The new BSG kicks the original's ass so bad even Hatch is on board!
--
Seriously the dude just wants a paycheck, and given Galactica is his claim to fame, I can't say I blame him- But let's face it a "continuation" would have been lame, just check out the old show-hell even the movie. It was cheese-wizz and corn. I loved the basic concept, but after the age of 10 it holds water like a strainer.
Long live the new and improved BSG! (And it's about time the words new- and improved actually went together, Star Wars and matrix prequels/sequels have done enough damage - we were due.

When do "painkillers" mean cocaine, x, heroin, morphine addictio
by jon e cin
Painkiller addiction just sounds better i guess.

The sister is the offspring of the Irina/Sloan affair, so she's not Jack Bristow's daughter, hence it shouldn't mess up that relationship between him and Sydney--certainly not like the "Sloan is her real father" rumor would have. As for new writers, the article says JJ has a lot on his plate and needs the help. Not sure that's a good sign or not, but it's not like someone wants to change the whole show(I hope).
-
Reminiscent of the episode where Starbuck finds out that Fred Astaire is his father, they should bring back Dirk Benedict as the female Starbuck's long-lost father. They could also explain that the call-sign "Starbuck" was actually coined for her father and it fell on her when she entered into the Flight Academy. It would bring back Dirk Benedict as Starbuck and that would be a ton of cool.

Too bad Hatch had to cave in. For your info for those who don't know. Hatch spent 10 years tryingt to get a continuation going. He even made a trailer that had the last bit of John Colicos(Baltar) before he died. And now he's $50,000 in debt and had to mortgage his house. He didn't have much of a career choice when Moore offered him a role. those who thought BSG original was cheezy: When it aired in 1979 70 mil people watched it, and it even wasn't on Super Sunday. Watch anything in 1979. Even Star Wars, BSG was not anymore cheezy than the others. A continuation could have worked just as well as this new BSG. The original story still had promise. Andromeda's story is hardly original or better compared to BSG.
-
I hated every thing I heard about the new Galactica until I saw it. There are things I don't like ... like turning genders where they REALLY absolutely DIDN'T need to ... but the new Galactica was all really pretty good. I like that Hatch will be a part of it now and I like that Moore held out an olive branch to Hatch. New Galatica wasn't perfect, but I thought it did a credible job.
-
please, shut the fuck up. the "new and improved" Galactica is a joke, and the ratings of the upcoming 13 episodes will bear this out. the miniseries was a fluke, and everyone knows it. it sucked, so admit it. also, the Matrix sequels were no worse than the original (take that whatever way you want), and the Star Wars prequels blow that overrated suckfest LOTR away. in several years, you will be agreeing with me, as will most of the little dickheads that post on here. you are all followers, and not movers. you blindly go where you are told. New Galactica is nonsense, and if you were able to look at the original series without the attitude of a stunted social growth nerd, you would see beyond the "cheese" that a decent concept, with some highly entertaining episodes exists. as for cheese, there is just as much in evidence in the miniseries. as if the ridiculous "Butch" Starbuck chick isnt enough to get a room of adults in hysterics, witness the utterly ridiculous scenes with the "hot chick" Cylon, prancing around in bed with Baltar. this sort of shit is made to appeal STRICTLY to nerd fucks such as you, who have no idea what such things are like. to you and your ilk, grooming and personal hygiene are merely things that "happen to other people".
don't like the SW prequels? good. then maybe i won't be forced to sit next to one of you shitstained fuckfaces on opening night, only to hear piercingly awful whining two hours later about how Lucas "fucked it all up."
grow the fuck up, moron. -
Where do I begin? It's just too fun- let's start with the statement that shits all over your analytical credibility:
------
"The Matrix sequels were no worse than the original (take that whatever way you want)". Yeah pointless fights (see Neo Vs. Jet Li wannabe and the "burly brawl -
i stopped reading your bullshit when you misquoted AOTC. not that its highly relevant, but the line is "i don't like sand, its course and rough. not like HERE. HERE everything is soft, and smooth." now i know that neither the correct line, which i have just reprinted for you, nor the constantly erroneous line that every internet fuckstick like you misquotes are terrifically different enough to warrant hours of discussion, but the fact that it is so constantly misquoted points to one thing. most of you simply don't pay close attention. i have yet to see anything on any of these forums to demonstrate that 100% of you losers are anything other than sheep. face it, you don't want to like the SW prequels because it flies in the face of everything that is currently trendy. NOW, the "thing" to champion is the LOTR trilogy, and the franchises to blast are the SW prequels, and the Matrix sequels. changing topics suddenly, i would like to alert you to one thing, i LOVE, and i mean utterly LOVE the very real possibility that you think whoever i am, i must be a virgin. this is something i have no interest in arguing. but i will tell you that i spent 8 years in a national touring metal act which, if i recall correctly, may have once or twice resulted in something. can't recall for sure. laugh in your insecurity, because i have met in person your kind. you stand there, with your head down, very aware that YOU have nothing going on other than your kiddie television shows, and comic books. meanwhile, those of us who actually see the world are the very people you scorn because we constantly remind you of how pathetic your own existence is, and when we turn our backs, that is when you make your goofy faces, and mock everything that YOU CAN'T EVER HAVE. or, in your case, you post on an internet talkback (annonymously, of course) berating anyone who doesn't also carry their official nerd license. oh, and by the way, i don't dress in costumes to see movies, but i have been known to stare down faggots like you who laugh a little too loudly.
-
having now browsed through some more of your laughable post, i noticed you berating the SW prequels and original BG, while defending the LOTR films. huh? ok, if serious adult minded filmmaking is all you accept, thats fine. but be consistent, ok?
LOTR, with its talking trees, wizards, magic rings and grandiose posturing of all the major characters can NOT be taken seriously, so as i said in the first place, shut the fuck up. -
and that is a far greater sin than any of the lighter substitutions for drama that the original can be blamed for. situations like this cannot be fathomed by mindless LOTR sycophants such as 900LBMoron, as he feels everything must be dark and brooding (or at least pretending to appear that way so as to disguise a lack of plot). no one ever said original Galactica was without fault. but the lighter, more family friendly approach that was taken was a deliberate move. in some instances it works, but admittedly the better moments were when adult drama stood at the forefront. episodes such as War of the Gods bear this out. regardless of all that, the original concept could have been continued with the alleged "more serious" approach of the mini-series, but that would fly in the face of the arrogant ass in charge of this "re-imagining", Ron Moore. as with the rest of the Trek spinoff cronies, Moore has the audacity to look down upon the very thing he is, in essence, COPYING! what results is a program that is worse than corny, its fucking boring. i would rather see a silly show that is more family oriented (a concept utterly lost on typical nerds, as they realize all hope of a normal existence where meeting a female and raising a family is next to impossible. with THAT being said, make no mistake that i never want to be mistaken for someone who actually likes the idea of a family either, since the human race basically sucks.) rather than a remote and unengagingly dry automaton of a program that takes forever to establish any sense of drama, and then lulls the audience stupid enough to believe that such presentation is "superior writing". fuck you, Gorilla. the new BSG sucks, and it won't last. and should i be proven wrong, and this piece of shit manage to find a sizeable audience, then it will only go to further proving how i am right, and people are totally fucking stupid.
-
Yes Star Wars (the ot) was not ultra realistric- but I actually had no problem with the exhaust prort (the 1st time anyways). Many of mans mightiest machines and structures have a fatal flaw (See the Hood and Bismark for an interesting parallels).
- Star Wars/BSG is not really science fiction anyways- it is science fantasy- but Science Fanstsay can (and should) be done very well for what it is- and can be done poorly- ESB and Phantom Menace are goodd indicators of the opposite eends of that spectrum.
---
On a side note, you can now take note that althouigh I disagreed with your premise, I did not question your sexual preferences or prowess (unlike certain other sexually suspect and conflicted virgins involved in our little suaret).
----
On a second side note- I actually agree with your ship assesments with teh exception of the X-Wind which I would take over the (still cool) Viper- and incidentally, although the New BSG is superior- the OLD Galactica design is FAR better

Glen A. Larsen on Battlestar Galactica: -----------------------------
I am often asked to single out one show I have created as my favorite. In many ways, bringing a show into being is very much like rearing a child. Each brings joy and satisfaction as well as some degree of headaches and heart wrenching. ----------------------------------------------------
One show, which stands out as one of the most personally rewarding, was Battlestar Galactica.-----------------------
I had been fascinated by several books dealing with the prospect of Earth having been visited by extraterrestrials, including one by a NASA space engineer who analyzed the biblical account of what Ezekiel was really looking at when he described seeing a "wheel, way up in the middle of the air," declaring it unmistakably a space craft
