Wonderfalls 1.4 FAQ
What’s it called?
“Pink Flamingos.”
Who’s responsible?
Teleplay is credited to Gretchen Berg & Aaron Harberts, they of “Roswell” and “John Doe” fame.
What does TV Guide say?
“After ignoring a voice results in an injury to her father, Jaye reluctantly obeys the next one, which asks her to assist at her high-school reunion with a perky nemesis against whom Mahandra holds a grudge. Gretchen: Chelan Simmons. Beth: Kari Matchett. Robert: Noah Klar. Chuck: Michael Buie. Tow Truck Driver: Sarah Armenia.”
Is the move to Thursdays permanent?
Very, very highly placed sources suggest much will be decided after the ratings for tonight’s installment are glimpsed. Let’s hope the move is permanent; the only previous Thursday airing (a repeat of the pilot) garnered the show its best ratings to date.
So how does this installment fit into the show continuity-wise?
This was actually the very first regular episode shot, once Fox saw the pilot and decided to order a series. It was originally intended to air right after the pilot, but the powers that be decided to create “Karma Chameleon” and “Wound-Up Penguin” much later in the production schedule to clear up a few issues that haunted pilot-viewing test audiences. (You’ll note that the chameleon and the penguin will not be lurking about in the next handful of ‘sodes)
What do the flamingos say?
“Get off your ass.”
What else is TV Guide not telling us?
Later on, a cartoon chicken cackles evilly, “Destroy Gretchen! Destroy herrrr!!”
The big news?
Jaye is ultimately compelled to obey. She destroys Gretchen.
What’s great?
Besides the demonic cartoon chicken? The desperation with which Jaye fast-forwards the photo album. The next 50 years in the life of Gretchen’s husband. The episode’s renewed emphasis on the lesbianic: sister Sharon Tyler invites her hot new girlfriend over and they have hot sex on the floor of her parents’ living room!
How does it end, spoiler boy?
“Say,” asks daddy Darrin Tyler, “did you know our basic cable comes with lesbian porn?”

I'll be watching tonight.

But I don't have much hope. Oh well.
-
... even though I'm way too old to be the target audience.

Gawd, we are talking about one of the best shows on television right now! Great writing, witty banter, characters you actually care about. And James Marsters; he's the sexiest tomboy beanpole on the planet...
Oh, wait...isn't this savingangel. org?
Never mind. -
Like I expected there to be a huge article on the WB protest to save angel but I've been searching all day and can't find anything! Am I to believe that the whole Rally was a complete disaster, with only one or two die hards turning up?

I get the wide spread apathy toward The O.C., which gerners about 3 to 5 posts per talkback, but man, I've never seen anything that didn't have Lightsabers, ewoks, or Agents invoke so much name calling and general bitching as Wonderfalls. Actually, I guess it's not the show, so much as Herc's hammer to the forehead approach to promoting it that makes for such anger. Personally, I like the show, (but hey, I like the O.C.), and last week I decided I love Jaye Tyler, but it really is kind of overkill the way it 's getting pushed. Of course, I tend to just not click on links that have no interest for me. Guess i'll have to catch the late rebroadcast of the only reality show I'll watch (Mad,Mad House) in order to watch Wonderfalls now. Not really sure how the overwhelmingly average Tru Calling is gonna' help, but I guess any slot is better than Friday night. .......... Now Herc, when the time comes, couldn't you just give a smidgen of attention to Dead Like Me or Nip/Tuck? And give Touching Evil some props too!
-
I meant to say lightsabers, hobbits, or Agents. And I meant garners, not gerners.

Any show that indulges in hot lesbian sex has got to be high on a fanboy's list, right? Wonderfalls is "shouting out" to an untapped demographic!
-
Yah, the reason Herc's overkilling the promos for Wonderfalls this time around is subtle didn't seem to work for other good shows (oh, say, Firefly). Course, in Talkback, it's usually apathy or bitchiness, with a few thoughtful posts in between. Wonderfalls is a great show, but it isn't gonna appeal to the typical fanboy...even with the lesbian sex. The heroine's a snarky slacker girl who doesn't show any flesh and has yet to execute one martial arts move. What self-respecting geek is gonna admit to liking that? Until Spike TV puts out Trinity Naked: The Series, the Maxim-reading portion of this board's just gonna yawn.

Christ, if there has ever been a more appalling publication in America, I can't think what it might be. Half-assed gateway porn that turns even the most attractive teen and post-teen actresses into mascara-slathered heroine sluts -- and the pix are surrounded by some of the worst, puerile, slack-jawed gonzo writing in the history of the medium. I hereby implore Harry to start interviewing TalkBack applicants before allowing them access. Q: Do you like LORD OF THE RINGS? A: It's OK. Q: Do you like sexy tomboy beanpoles? A: They're cool. Q: Do you read MAXIM? A: Hell yeah! Q: Adios, muchacho! .... This place could do with a few less illiterate anger junkies addicted to their X-Boxes, their Mudvayne CDs and the rape scene in THE ENTITY, thank you very much.
-
I think Jaye's great, and flashing some skin would seem kinda' against her nature (although I wouldn't be suprised if there's been a memo in the Fox offices to try to get her to sex it up a bit to help ratings). I also dig Dead Like Me's slacker chick George. I'm pretty intelligent, fairly well read, over the age of 13, can't remember the last time I used my Xbox, and I've had sex (with a girl even). Still, I'm not opposed to lesbian sex on cable, young actresses or pop stars slutting it up for the cameras, or the occasional sophomoric humor in the written word. Hmmmmmm......... wonder if Caroline Dhavernas is going to be on the cover of Maxim?

We need to get a lot of people to watch tonight...so it gets mega ratings...so it stays on Thursday nights...so it stays on the air...
This is one of the few really good shows on TV - new or otherwise - imagine how much better it can if it's given a chance to stay around for a while!!! -

Thanks for the laugh. Needed it this afternoon. Hey, on the topic of TV nobody's watching, did anyone catch CENTURY CITY before it got the axe? I sat down for the pilot thinking "Wow, brilliant! A science fiction allegory for the legal, social and moral entanglements we so often find ourselves in today!" By the close of the hour, I was thinking, "Hey, I wonder who's on the cover of the next MAXIM?" =) Boy, does SF need a facelift on network TV...
-
Just wondering what those last two episodes covered that won't be dealth with in the next few eps.
-
Didn't it just start two weeks ago? Another example of networks not giving a show a chance to find an audience. Then again, I didn't even make it through the first 10 minutes (I flipped during the ad, found The Simpsons and never went back. D'oh!)

I'm glad they moved to Thursday nights - because I also really like Tru Calling (I'm a sucker for all things Eliza(even Wrong Turn)) and now they're back to back. Yay for me!!!

That was hilarious. A terrific 'sode. That was hilarious on several levels, and the fireworks were a pisser. Bonus: CD in a miniskirt, nice legs. "There's mace..." The lesbianic banter was funny as shit AND very aware of lesibian relationship issues. Great acting, writing, and a Bush book. This was the best 'sode yet. I laughed out loud at least 7 times. My fucking sides hurt.

Easily the best thing currently on TV. This show grows on me more and more each week. It's hilarious. I simply don't understand how people can bitch about this. Honestly, if you're gonna whine that this show isn't good enough, then you might as well not even watch TV at all, because you aren't going to find anything better. And Jaye Tyler most definetly does NOT need to show more skin or anything like that. She's already way cuter than just about any other television character.
-
I could watch it just for Caroline D. The great writing is a bonus. And this episode was a perfect example of why it's such a great show. It takes the cliches that you might see on lesser shows and turns them on their head. As the guy above said, if you are expecting anything better on a network, you have got a long wait.

I kinda like Wonderfalls. And if that sounds wimpy and noncommital, I hesitate to get emotionally invested in a show that won't be around in a month. Plus, I already have a "Joan Of Arcadia" (Best new show of the year other than Arrested Development and Karen Sisco and Skin) and Joan has a better cast and more likable characters. Though I understand if it only appeals to those of us who did psychedelics and saw God. I do not get the appeal of those gay lifestyle magazines like Maxim, Details and FHM (pronounced "Femme") It's like "Esquire" for teens or "Playboy" without nudity; either way, what's the freakin' point? And I keep hearing that conventional wisdom that "no one watched TV on Friday nights" used as an excuse for juggling schedules and canceling good shows. Look, Im a fucken impotent friendless cripple and I obviously have nothing to do on a Friday night but watch the tube. So where's my fucking Boomtown, Boston Public, Third Watch, Wonderfalls? Canceled, canceled, canceled and moved. That leaves Joan at eight and those crazy blonde bitches on ABC at nine, and they just ain't funny. What am I expected to do if they keep canceling anything I'll watch? And do not say watch JAG 'cause that ain't gonna happen.
Oh, and I think Jaye on Wonderfalls is very attractive and handsome in an unconventional, unpretty and indie-movie sort of way. Hey, not being pretty has worked pretty well for Jennifer Garner... -
Oh well, to each his own. I can see how if you don't love it you may not like it. Same with Wonderfalls. I do agree, Simpsons is still great. Even episodes I have seen a dozen times are always highly enjoyable.
-
I have to admit that I was really excited about this show after seeing the first episod, then I saw the second episode. This show has, in my opinion, gotten worse with every episode. Based on the first episode I decided to give it a shot the next three weeks now I'm getting off of this turd before it sinks.
-
Wonderfalls is a great show. Those of you who think less of it...I feel sorry for. Do you not have family? Friends? Have you not lived any of life yet? Last night's episode was near perfect. I know people like them! Hell, some of my family and friends could join the cast! I laughed my guts out at the last line....
-
Of the shows you listed, the only ones I watch are Stern and the Simpsons (but only the reruns that play in syndication, the new episodes pale in comparison). Anyway, you never fully answered my question.
By the way, I thought last night's show was great but the ending felt a little rushed and not as satisfying as the last two. -
Didn't care for the last couple of eps, but this one was enjoyable, much like the first ep. ..The constant "quirky" background music drives me nuts, tho. Gives me a migraine.
-
Well unfortunately "Wonderfalls" bombed on Thursday night. I don't know why seeing as such low rated fare as "CSI" and "The Apprentice" were it's competition.

by rufus_t_firefly
I really dig this show... but from the get-go this had "too good for the unwashed masses" written all over it. And after a truly dismal 2.1 share showing on Thursday night (even managing to lose audience from last week's 'Temptation Island Redux' reality show abortion) it appears that the writing's on the wall. It looks like Piven's 'Cupid' all over again.
-
...but not as much as good looking lesbians...
-
The conceit is that they'll find something that'll be a winner for these timeslots other then "Wonderfalls" and there's a 99.9% chance that that will not happen. "Cheers" was THE lowest rated show for NBC the first year it was on. It gained audience share through the years until it's Must-See perch on Thursdays made it a winner. But that never would've happened had they cancelled it in year one. I say keep it on Fridays at 9:00 (When nothing else is on honestly). The ratings can't get any lower and they don't have to waste money developing umpteen new shows for the time period.
-
Man does this show suck! And obviously so does the network as they decided to run it up against CSI and THE APPRENTICE, the two hottest shows on TV. I feel sorry for any show that runs against CBS' "dogs of war" (Surivor, CSI, Without a Trace) on Thursday nights, it is going to get blown away. Hey HERC, why don't you talk about GOOD shows like CSI or WITHOUT A TRACE or COLD CASE instead of the teeny-bopper bullshit like ANGEL or THE OC that can't hold a candle to shows with real drama, witers, actors and skills. HERC, you taste in TV sucks balls. What are you, some thirteen year old girl! God, your taste sucks.

I'm liking this show more every week. It's just insanely funny, and I'm not even a gen-y'er. Is it a masterpiece? Nah, but it's darn clever, innovative and a real hoot. And, of course, it's going to get canned before its time to make room for more mindless, numbing reality crap, as all good shows do. I guess I can see why some don't get it....not everyone was born with a sense of humor after all. Pity them, but don't humor them.
-
When your expensive ($1 million+ per episode) show is getting trounced by reality shows (including a rerun of one) and only pulling in FIFTH place for its timeslot (even >>UPN<< beat it)...well, I don't know what else there's to say. The good thing is that Fox Home Video is pretty good about releasing DVD sets of their sister network's programming, including the failed ones like "Firefly". I predict FOX will have to throw in the towel after the Episode 6, and unaired episodes will either be burned off during summertime (but I doubt this as FOX has said they will remain competitive throughout summer seasons now and not program it as the traditional "break period") or they will only be seen in the DVD box set. A DVD set could make a nice addition to those who loved the movie "Amelie" and are fans of Whedon & Co. Regarding Herc's tastes, not to slag on him (he's getting enough of that), but most teen girls don't like shows like this. They like stuff like Friends, The O.C., Real World and CSI. Like the title of another FOX series that's critically acclaimed yet floundering in the ratings, Wonderfalls seems to be targeted to viewers who -- like its lead character -- suffer from arrested development. Sorry (ducking flames).

I loved that series. I wrote an email to its creator, Rob Thomas, a few years ago after it was cancelled, telling him how much I loved it. I encouraged him to take the idea and develop it into a movie (a crazy guy who thinks he's Cupid and most hook up 100 couples within the timespan of the movie). I still think that series' premise would hold up today but also as a romantic comedy movie.

Even "Wonderfalls" detractors have to admit, that "Destroy Gretchen! Destroy her!" bit *was* pretty funny. This week's show should get a free pass off of that little piece of absurdist humor alone.

And it did BETTER on Friday night, yet Herc and the producers wanted it on Thursday! :-D Suck it up! Can't beg to go back to Friday nights now, lest viewers become even more confused. It even failed to hold onto the dismal audience numbers of Tru Calling. Next week is gonna be worse when Kingdom Hospital returns with a new episode -- and ABC considers the ratings for that show to be bad, even though it has 10+ million viewers!
-
Here's the real deal: The testing audience was split down the middle. Half liked it; half hated it, in particular they disliked the main character (not necessarily the actress). Why? Well, Tim Minnear himself has admitted that men liked the serious more than women. Unlike Ally McBeal, women in the test audience did not like Jaye. The fact is, Jaye is a figment of a male writer's imagination/idea of what a "cool young woman" is, not necessarily an actual woman's. Jaye is a stand-in for the "perfect girlfriend" (cute, quirky, aimless, girl-like) for men who still have adolescent minds. I'm sorry, but this isn't necessarily my own opinion -- it's what bothered many of the women in the testing audience. With Ally McBeal (also a male writer's creation), the diff was that Ally was a career professional, so her quirkiness was offset by this more "serious" side. I know this because I have a friend who works for the major testing firm that audience-tests most of the network's new shows. If a show doesn't pass with women, it fails. Wonderfalls does not pass with most women. The producers know this and may have attempted to make changes in the later episodes (with the introduction of another female character), but it may already be too late, since all 13 episodes are already in the can.

Wonderfalls. Debut, great, 2nd ep more of the same, 3rd, the most dramatic, 4th, the funniest one so far. "Pink Flamingos" was probably the funniest thing I've seen on TV since (There's always money in the banana stand". Oh, and it gave most of the regular characters something to do: there was a dad plot, a sister plot, a mom arc, with the main A Plot focusing on Jaye and her bartender pal, where it belongs. ---- Karen Sisco delivered a small cinema quality film every week; "Wonderfalls" delivers a delightful quirky indie film. ----- The scene with the lesbian sister grinding up "may cause drowsiness" pills in her dad's milk, then baking him fresh cookies so he'll drink it all - then that slow sinister creep up the stairs with the milk on a tray - that was so straight out of a campy '50s B-movie I thought I'd bust a gut. I laughed out loud a LOT at this episode, and I have a vicious bitter life. This is entertaining. With multiple quote-worthy lines. "I destroy you."!!! and "She threw a rum based drink on me" "Mai Tai?" "Might you what!?!" and "Still creepy." ----- I have a general question/observation. Why does being a top rated show even matter any more in a world where half the people can watch one show and tape another at the same time and an incresing percentage can TiVo several shows in the same time slot at once? ----- Now will someone PLEASE put somethng watchable on basic cable on Friday nights so I don't have to scour my eyes after watching "Hope and Dope" and "That Bonnie cunt Show".
come on, Boston Public, Boomtown, Third Watch, Wonderfalls... frikken bring back Sabrina the Thirtyish Witch. Anything watchable, okay? Judd For the Defense. -
I think that the idea that she's something of an idealized cool chick has some validity to it, although the show itself isn't bad. It would go lengths to explain, however, why so many people on this site are smitten with her, myself included, as much as I hate to admit it (to be fair, some of her lines are quite gratingly Daria-esque). Still, the show itself provides plenty of clever humor. Detractors of the show who tune into "Arrested Development" each week might want to give it a chance. ("You're the most beautiful girl here.")

Jim Jam - interesting comments re: Jaye as the perfect g/f.
by prof. pop-cult
Is this the real reason why the episodes are being shown out of order? Were the first six tested and were the results so bad that they decided to shuffle them around so episodes that might be more appealing to female audiences would be shown first? That last episode with the scene with the lesbian sister did make me wonder who this series is supposed to be geared towards. The addition of another female character, played by an actress on Firefly, makes me wonder if there's something up. I wonder if she's going to be "edgier" compared to Jaye. Any females here who have seen this show? What do you think about this? About Jaye? BTW, Jim Jam, love the moniker. May The Power be with you! Randall Lewis did not rape my childhood.
-
OrionsAngel, I just lost all respect for you. Have you even seen Wonderfalls? Because it sounds like you came to this conclusion based solely on the trailer. I dated a girl that forced me to watch a couple of episodes of Ally McBeal. That show was disgustingly cute, but never funny. Ally's character was nothing like Jaye. Her visions were simply representations of her fears, fantasies, etc.- a window into her brain. They seemed to serve no purpose other than to try to get a laugh. That show was a fucking turd. On the other hand, if I remember correctly, Jays visions are probably her conscience brought to life in the form of inanimate objects- though she thinks it might be a greater power. There is a connection to the indian spirit from the fountain where she accidently made a wish. Anyway, her visions actually have a purpose... and they're funny.
-
That's enough to make me watch it.
-
"Wonderfalls" is not clever. Neither is "Dead Like Me". Both are derivative spins featuring loathsome female leads. It's always funny to see both "I love her" and "she's a fanboy's dream" comments on the same character as it calls out the underlying good point, the character is complex, while failing to recognize the "complexity" is merely a codew-word for difficult, a person who has walked this life with no serious comuppance. As someone who has know their share of Jaye's and delighted in tearing them down for their apathy with attitude commentaries, I immediately disliked her and each episode has re-inforced this assessment. As when I heard the "praise" for Daria, here are characters and presumably writers who don't know enough clever people who could destroy them while laughing in their face for no other reason than to prove to them that they are selfish whining peons. She is as she appears, there's nothing more, maudlin episode conclusions notwithstanding. One poster mentioned "Cupid", a brilliant show that ABC tortured on Saturdays that I too await a DVD to catch the two episodes I don't have on VHS. "Ally McBeal" is an apt show for comparisons, particularly the second season after the whole Billy shake-out. Those who see "Wonderfalls" as clever or original simply haven't seen enough TV. I love TV. I loved it more in the past before the L&O/CSI/Reality takeover. These days, The Simpson, Arrested Development, Alias, L&O Criminal Intent and Crossing Jordan fill my Sundays, Monday is a wasteland beyond CSI Miami (like Criminal Intent, really a character show based around a single strong actor). Tuesday we get 24, NYPD Blue and L&O SVU. Wednesdays has the still hilarious That '70s Show, Angel, Enterprise and the original L&O. Thursdays are CSI (I always loved Friends, but miss it more often than not) alone and it's over. Good new shows like "Miss Match" are gone, and while not brilliant, that show was far more entertaining than Wonderfalls has been (hell, I've given every episode a shot, watched Firefly from Day 1, and since Herc cited that show's humor when he called "Wonderfalls" a comedy I fell for it. I have laughed out loud twice across all episodes, they aren't even "Sports Night" dramedy funny). To see all this talk which I enjoy browsing, I have to agree with thge people who call for more Talkbacks whether they're bashing shows or not. "Enterprise" is a rocky affair but has had some really good episodes and interesting actors. A had a hell of a lot of laughs watching "Smallville" on DVD, I figure dudes here would lak about it, or "24", or even low-budget crap like "Andromeda". Some of the best morsels from the talkbackers are buried deep in off-topic rantings, so why can't we better organize them, or at least spread them around. I gave "Wonerfalls" more than a fair shake (more than I gave Navy NCIS, Two and a Half Men and other new shows this season), and can only guess the "love" come from the young, interred or socially awkward (and having sex with a "girl" is no counter for this as many of us have seen what qualifies for "girl" and are frightened). Continue to enjoy and support the show, but remember, comparisons to "Ally" can be confirmed on "FX", try to track down some episodes of "Cupid" ands ee if you still think this show is clever or funny (much less original). And to all those who salute "Arrested Development" as best new show, that's where my vote goes by a wide margin. A laugh-track-less live action comedy so funny, CLEVER and, most importantly, twisted tht you do laugh out loud. That's why the ReplayTV is necessary: 8 second quick replay.
-
Forgot to mention "The OC" funny and clever and an original spin on the spread of teen to adult dramas of the last 30 years. And even "Stargate SG-1", perhaps tired by now, has its supporters or haters literally drooling for the bandwidth to rail at will.

club: good points -- I think we need to talk about other shows h
by prof. pop-cult
Enterprise is a rocky affair, as you said, but I think more regular discourse about it here, for better or for worse, could benefit it. Same with 24. And the low budget genre shows should be mentioned more often, too -- including stuff like Mutant X and Andromeda. We can all learn from the "bad" or maybe even see good/learn about interesting stuff from shows that most of us would never consider watching. As for Wonderfalls, I think what has bothered a lot of people here is Herc's undying support for it, his outright activism for it; it almost feels like borderline bullying/coersion (sorry, Herc, I'm trying to be objective and fair here). I mean, if Herc said, hey, guys, check this out -- I think it deserves a shot; what do you think? I think his efforts would have been received more positively here, regardless of whether TBers here liked the show or not. The "controversy" over WF has made me look at television programming and its demographics in another light. Jim-Jam made me consider something I never saw about the show -- why women (at least in the audiences that it was tested on) don't like it -- and the appeal factor of other shows. For example, yesterday I looked up and learned that Joan of Arcadia was created by and is executive produced by a woman; and that series is a hit. Wonderfalls was created by and is showrun by men. And it's made me look at what's going on with Tru Calling -- why was Jason Priestly added to the cast? Is it because its female viewership is pitiful, too? I noticed that nobody has taken issue with Jim Jam's purported inside news claims. And that those who defend the show seem to be exactly the type of viewer this show is drawing, a niche of a niche audience of males. Especially the one who said his girlfriend loved Ally McBeal but he hated it, thought it was a bad show, and he liked WF instead...this came right after Jim Jam's remarks about why women liked Ally over Jaye. Whether he is a troll, I'm afraid there may be more than a tinge of truth to his words and it is a bitter, uncomfortable one. JJ are you still there? May The Power be with you!

As a result of moving it to Thursday, we missed it. We were watching MATRIX REVOLUTIONS. Not good.

"I almost started this with "You can't..." but of course, you CAN do what ever you want. What I meant to say, though, is that "derivitive" doesn't stand alone. IF you say something is "derivitive" you should cite what it is you think it's derivitive of or derived from. Without citing examples people don't know what you're talking about and assume you don't either.
Wonderfalls is far from the first "quirky dramedy" on TV, far from the first property with a female lead.
An easy high concept description would be "Hey, you got Arrested Development on my Joan Of Arcadia" but it's not either and even if it was, as long as they were developed independently and at the same time, then "So?" Here's the JOA comparison: there's a very remote chance that Joan may be insane; there's a very slim chance that Jaye isn't.
I found a site that posted obsessive detailed 14 pabe plot synopsises written by someone who really seems to detest the show, but all her criticisms are petty. She just doesn't get it. Yes, the nutty music cues and wacky cartoon sound effects. Yes, Jaye is not a very likable or nice person. Yes, it's a cheat to pull a deus ex machina and haul out a tear jerker ending that ties everything up and makes it happy at the end when it has little to do with the rest of the story. Yes, it breaks the rules. Yes, breaking rules is A GOOD THING. Yes, no one can figure out the target demographic for this show. This show is for the people who get it. Yes, it takes a lot of balls to name an episode "Pink Flamingos", the title of one of the most shocking, audacious and revolutionary independendent/underground films of all time. Yes, they pulled it off. Yes, ever other line in this episode was quoteworthy.
Yes, I taped it and have watched it over and over again and plan to do so again, and there hasn't been a show I've done that with since Karen Sisco or the first few Joans.
Yes, there have been quirky shows before, Jaye hears tochkes. Joan chats with Big G. Tru is accosted by the dead. That chick on "Dead Like Me" does something else (I don't get HBO anymore). And someone else is Cupid or is reincarnated in the body of a super-hero or slays vampires or comes from Krypton or gets tomorrows newspaper today. There have been weird shows before; Wonderfalls is NOT Twin Peaks or Maximum Bob or Kolchak. So if it's derivitive, the question remains, "of what?" -
And things were different then when that show was on. Not that many choices in terms of channels. And producers and network executives knew good shows from bad. Now, they throw what they can at people hoping for that automatic super rating that will give them that bonus from the studio. Wonderfalls was not that good. Cheers ran for eleven years. Wonderfalls ran for 11 minutes. Cheers won emmys. Wonderfalls won dust for that is what the other episodes are going to be collecting.

Wonderfalls is a good show. Quality TV. So why would it have a place on Fox? They cancelled The Tick, Greg the Bunny, Family Guy, ALien Nation, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Undeclared, etc.
Quality show on Fox = CANCELLED. I hate Fox. -
I loved this show. I am pissed at FOX. I want my DVD set, if they won't show it to those of us who do not have cable access.

Loved this show. But what does FOX do? Cancel this and give us The Swan.

No contest. Wonderfalls wins on content, they had content. What did Cheers have? Crap. Oh they stayed on the air. If that was that was wat made television than no wonder people call it a waste land. Hated Cheers, still can't watch it. And, Frasier, have not been able to take it in since the 3rd season.
Original and fun television is not available unless you have cable. Use to have cable and now wonder what is happening on Six Feet Under.
