SPOILER ALERT !!

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...

Yeah, that’s right. The international version of the SPIDER-MAN 2 trailer seems to be hopping from server to server right now, one step ahead of Sony’s legal department. I would strongly encourage you not to click here (LINK REMOVED BY REQUEST OF SONY PICTURES... SIGH) and watch it. I think it looks pretty cool. The Doc Ock/Spidey fight stuff is spectacular in small doses, and I can only imagine what it looks like on the bigscreen. I’m a little freaked out by what I’ve heard from people who have seen the film, but I'm hoping these are just a few preliminary grumbles. I’m sure there’s a lot of work still to be done on the film, and I’m dying to take a look myself. Huge spoiler at the end of this trailer, so don't look if you don't want to know.

I would also encourage you not to quickly take a look at what appears to be a rough cut of a trailer for CATWOMAN. This is the first footage I’ve seen from the film, and it’s safe to say that it’s worse than we thought it was going to be. It’s worse than anyone could have possibly guessed it was going to be. That film looks like brain death. It looks like actual physical pain. I strongly suspect CATWOMAN will re-establish Warner Bros. as the company that pees in the mouths of comic fans while laughing and taking Polaroids. They hate us. BATMAN BEGINS must be an elaborate April Fool’s Day joke, because this corporation cannot possibly be making a film that sounds as cool as that one does. Not while they’re also making CATWOMAN. It just doesn’t seem possible.

So... do not click here or here, either. You have been warned.

Thanks to the chatters and Chib Chacan for sending us the heads-up on these.

"Moriarty" out.

When a trailer, or any other prepackaged publicity, including photos of the lame ass costume designs look like shit, there is a very good chance that the movie will in fact BE shit. It's the "C'mon, let's give it a chance" crowd that are the sheep here. Could be you're a studio plant or some other toady, in which case your "opinion" is worthless. However, my guess is that you are an even lower form of life, the toady wannabe, the kind of guy that actually aspires to be a studio plant, a spineless worm that goes around thinking "Oh, IF ONLY I could be a paid whore for the studios that have nothing but contempt for me and my kind, that would be bliss" No, Harry doesn't have to tell me that the movie will be crap, I have two eyes and some discriminating taste. I can see it for what it is, I don't need to give it a chance. I don't need to plant my foot squarely into something in order to discern wether or not it is a pile of shit.

Eliminate any references to Batman or Gotham if you are going to release this, because you don't want to tarnish or in any way alienate potential audience for BATMAN BEGINS. It's already taken a few years for peeps to forget about that piece of shit BATMAN and ROBIN. ... Jesus what the hell were they thinking? Now there's a case study of an idea that past through to many goorus before being grown into something the makers themselves surely didn't understand anymore. But Halle berry is a bit of a dip shit. Ever seen her in interviews? And this one time on Mad Tv the comedian chick made a comment about how they have the same lawyer... and she perked up all wide eyed and screamed "Neil, Really?????" Then the commentator looked at the camera all wird like. Funny thing that episode. They had a credit 'Directed by M. Night Shamalamadingdong..." I swear I made that up here one time. Dude, the costume IS that fucking bad, and the trailer IS that fucking bad, and if you think it deserves a "chance" then you are in need of the Darwin Award for biggest walking dupe on the planet.

By all means go and see it, see it twice, go buy the Catwoman inspired panties and prance your self to the theater for a third viewing, and when you realize that you are the only one who has seen this movie on the planet earth then you can take the barrel of the gun and enjoy the sweet release that click of the trigger brings because no mortal human is going to be able to sit through the stinking pinched loaf of a movie that Catwoman is going to be.

Saying that we should give this a chance is akin to seeing a parade of Nazis march down the streets of France in the late 30's and saying "don't worry, this might work out"

Hey, me too! I had to use my imagination, in fact, 'cause the trailer was so dark and murky I felt like I was stumbling around on a moonless night with sunglasses on. I saw occasional blotches of red, which I assume was Spidey, and some silhouettes of a chunky guy with tentacles. Either bootleggers need to invest in better cameras or theaters need to go back to using the correct bulbs in their projectors. Hey... why not both?!

    by jeditemple

Maybe, Halle will hate superhero flicks after this bombs. Perhaps she should give up the role of Storm too. It can finally go to Angela Basset, who should have been cast as Storm in the first place. Hell, even Beonce' would do better in her roles.

I hate Halle Barry...ever since she stole that dang Oscar for her "make me feel good" role in "Monster's Balls" (there's a Billy Bob joke for you). I also hated her in her smirking Jinx role in that 007 flick. Gotta hate that CGI swan dive from that movie.

  • Halle Berry is a great actress (as well as strong and proud) who blazed a trail and set an example for other African-American actresses to follow: Whip 'em out early and often. It's because of her that we can expect other hot black chicks to take off their clothes in future movies. So untill Tyra Banks shows her awe-inspiring knockers in a major motion picture, get off Halle Berry's back. All you comic book nerds need to quit beating off to She-Hulk and appreciate a beautiful, strong and proud black actress having a cat-fight with Sharon Stone. If you don't want to watch that, you're gay. Not that there's anything wrong with balancing nuts on your double-chins. In fact, like all muliculturalists who fight bigotry on the web, I'm all for gay marriage. But gay men have no right to slam Halle Berry because they don't know what the fuck they're talking about.

Jack Black Takes on 'King Kong'

    1 hour, 47 minutes ago

    By Borys Kit

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Comic actor Jack Black (news) has been in cast alongside Naomi Watts (news) in Peter Jackson (news)'s remake of "King Kong," the director said Monday.

    Canadian Press Photo

Black will play Carl Denham, an adventurer filmmaker who is trying to make a name for himself in 1930s New York. Robert Armstrong played the role in the 1933 original. (Jackson has said he is pretending the 1976 update does not exist.)

Watts is playing Ann Darrow, an American actress who makes a living performing in Broadway song and dance shows. The project, which will shoot in Jackson's native New Zealand, is set up at Universal Pictures.

"I've been wanting to work with Jack Black ever since I saw him in High Fidelity," said Jackson, who is also writing the remake along with his "Lord of the Rings" co-screenwriters Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. "He's a smart and versatile actor blessed with an abundance of energy and charm and I'm absolutely thrilled that he is joining us on 'Kong."'

Black earned a Golden Globe nomination this year for his starring role in last fall's hit comedy "The School of Rock." His other credits include "Orange County" and "Shallow Hal."

"SPIDER-MAN 2" LOOKS AWESOME! "CATWOMAN" sadly looks like someth

    by screenplaywriter

"SPIDER-MAN 2" looks awesome! Sadly, "CATWOMAN" looks like cat litter. I mean who directed this thing? It looks like something you'd see on the Sci-Fi Channel, or something you'd see late at night with old Jerry Springer episodes and some church evangelist. I think Halle should've stuck to "X-MEN" because what is she trying to do pull an Eartha Kitt? I mean sorry but I never liked Eartha Kitt in the original Batman series she just totally ruined it. Not to sound racist, but she did. Julie Newmar and Michelle Pffifer will always remain the "purrfect" pussies. I hope Warner Bros. cans this fast, because if this is the prep work for "BATMAN BEGINS" than I think Warner Bros. made a bad decision replacing "BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN" over this.

"SPIDER-MAN 2"- Wow, that trailer was simply amazing and astounding. I am so impressed with how CGI has evolved and grown since "JURASSIC PARK." I mean seeing Spider-Man swinging so fricking close to cars, going through the opening of that semi, and fighting Doc Ock is simply a fan boy's, a comic book fan's, and everyone's dream. I cannot wait for this movie! Whether you like Sam Raimi, spit on his name, or just hate the movie and spit on his name, or like the first movie and him than I suggest you still give it up for what he is doing. He has taken Stan Lee's imagination, creativity, and visionary and has made it his own, following well to the comic book, but changing some things, and still fleshing out and making the perfect superhero movie. I am ready for this full on!

    by the hillbrothers

Sorry to be off-topic, but the Spidey-Link is gone, and I have no interest in the Catbox. But if the Jack Black King Kong role thing is true, consider: Jack Black is a smart guy, and I think he could do drama, especially playing an adventure film director from the 30's, a character who would not be your typical straight-laced American citizen from the time, but rather a role which could use a more colorful persona. I think it's cool, I hope it's confirmed.

  • I have to disagree with flossygomez. Flash Gordon is a camp classic that is surprisingly faithful to its source material - unlike the upcoming Catwoman movie. I haven't seen the Catwoman trailer, but I am a fan of Halle Berry, so I do wish her the best of luck in the role - and, from all indications, she is going to need it.

Sony put together a nice little trailer there. They appeared to be channeling the amazing (no pun intented) X2 final trailer from 13 months ago. CGI looks good, actors look more comfortable, but we will see the final 2 hour product in a couple of months.

    by ethandarkseid

For gods sakes..the one michelle pheiffer wore was designed by the team that helped burton with the first one..I remember reading about them in some book about the production of the movie and it had scetches and concept drawings showing the penguins lair, the rocket bearing penquins and the gorgeous production designs of the film. So why scrap ALL of that? Could they NOT get them back on the Warners bros. lot? Oh, that's right...we don't want the film to look like a continuation of that film, or reselmble it in any way. How silly of me. Instead, WB wants to be COOL by casting halle berry as a tough black woman who kicks ass and hisses at dogs. ??
I honestly believe that this film will hurt WB in a very deep and profound way. WB is too big to be closed by one bomb like films in the past have done to some studios. But this movie will HURT them. And Halle berry will stick to non-comic films. Sony knows what the fuck they are doing with the spidey franchise so there's going to be some hope there. I just wish burton and co. were involved SOMEHOW but I think burton backed off when he read the script. Too bad catwoman is'nt going to get better treatment. PS: theres some dude that is posting here about halle berry that sounds like those stalkers that they profiled for some E! show about stalkers. You know the type, they get REALLY upset when you put their favorite star down no matter what shitty movie she stars in. The kind of guys that defend "the lonely lady" as being "misuderstood" and one of pia zadoras best films. Oh, and they have a website dedicated to her too. Shudder.

  • Is Halle Berry trying to channel Eartha Kitt? This whole thing just looks/sounds ridiculous. The DARK Catwoman thing from Batman Returns was interesting. It just needed to have the Burton treatment removed and set in a more contemporary setting and it may have worked. It's just funny that they've had this much time with it and this is the best WB could have come up with? I can't believe that this studio is still around. If you're going to ignore the source material, at least make it interesting. See Blade for example. Does WB even know who there customers are? They turn all there comic properties into campy shit. Teens and adults read more comics than little kids. I'm just wondering what demographic they're aiming at? Kids? No, Halle is too sexy. Comic fans? No, it's too campy/not like the source material. Halle fans? Maybe, but then why Catwoman? You could have had some sexy Halle thriller for about half the cost. Somebody who needs to get laid? No, you could always get Monster's Ball or any of the many nice Halle movies, get a porn flick, or heaven forbid go to a bar on Friday night. Merchandising? Well, unfortunately I don't see a shit load of half naked Halle Berry toys/lunchboxes/t-shirts gracing the store shelves anytime soon. Seeing the track record so far and now with Constantine and Catwoman butchered and Supes not even getting off the ground for no good reason other than creative bankruptcy, I have zero expectations for Batman Begins. At least with a Marvel picture you have a 50/50 shot at a good movie.

If it's not clear to you then you must have to have a handler walk around with you in your daily life to make sure you don't cross the street when cars are coming, drink bottles marked "poison" or walk over open manhole covers.
You must find the presented scenes of Catwoman eating a boatload of sushi, hissing at dogs, and drinking creme in a bar ultra clever and worthy of our attention, lord knows seeing Arnie yell "chill" in the trailers for Batman and Robin sure had me excited about that movie.

Caught the trailer before it was removed. LOVED IT! Movie looks 100 times better than it did when I saw the teaser. You can find a watered-down version of this new trailer at www.spiderman.sonypictures.com (Trailer Sneak Peak). I agree you can sometimes judge how good (or not) a film will be by the trailer. However, not always. I did see the Catwoman trailer but I will reserve final judgement until I see a "clean" version. On the other hand, I have seen great trailers for not so great films (the most obvious being "Pearl Harbor", IMO one of the best trailers I have ever seen but the film did not come close to being that good). P.S. I liked "Flash Gordon", I thought it was cool. Then again, at the time I was 12 years old.

People out there, if you're THAT shocked by Friends or Will and Grace, do us all a favor and shoot yourself. You have nothing to live for. Those shows are about as benign as can be. Ignore the Plebian

    by tigernan

Seriously, he's only dissenting to get attention.

Back to Crackwoman (golly I'm clever) -- the biggest issue for me is not the suit -- God freaking awful though it is -- and it may not even be that they clearly abandoned any connection to any previous incarnation of catwoman at all -- it's that it's so blatantly clear that a room full of suits put this together. She's a cat, right? So make her do a bunch of cat things. You know, hiss, drink milk, eat fish, spit, etc. In other words, an oversexed female stereotype that were she not connected to the Bat Family, would be roundly rejected. The idea of catwoman is, yes, linked to a certain kind of sexuality, but much more importantly, to a sort of predator sensibility -- a hunter, one that makes the costume, the whip, the mannerisms work. The cat aspect isn't the most important aspect about Catwoman -- just as the Bat is only really marginally what Batman is about. (Or the Riddler or Joker or any of them) But in the usual case of dumbing down concepts to their lowest common denominator, they've only focused on the easiest thing -- the cat. And that is why this movie is going to suck out loud. So yes, Ball whatever, I am prejudging it based on a few frames of film, but I think that one, this is entirely valid -- otherwise, what are trailers for? And two, perfectly reasonable. What should I do, spend 8 bucks, and then find out I don't like it? Or that my assumptions are right? A few thousand people do that, and the message WB gets is, hey, look at all the money we made on this movie -- we made the right decision! Let's do it again with a Harley Quinn movie!

    Berry

    by woodystiffer

The reason the movie will suck is Halle Berry. She's simply an atrocious actor. The trailer didn't offend me as much as I had anticipated, it offered up the same kind of lame-ass, cornball lines that are found in every Rock film (the reason I don't go see his steaming piles either). Halle Berry works in VERY few roles. Her amazing beauty has given her a career, not her acting talent. I'd rather go watch a film full of actors who can actually disappear into a role. You know what I'm talking about, the great films where you forget that you're watching "so and so". Unfortunately in today's cinema, those films are few and far between. As an aside, the scariest thing I've ever seen on TV remains, to this day, Berry's Oscar acceptance speech. That weird crying face she made gives me nightmares.

    by big jim

If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. Change, just to make it different, is not necessarily a good thing. Fans of characters are fans of the characters. Change the fundamentals of that character and you risk losing the elements that made the character so popular. And in turn risk alienating the fans; a built-in audience that stays away en-masse. I hope this film is better than expected, for the WBs sake, and for the sake of future comic adaptations whose greenlight may depend on the success of this film.

    by daryl van horn

I haven't been able to see the trailer up til now. Just what people are saying about it. So far every bit of info of this movie has made me whince (literally) so people's reaction didn't surprise me and what they described sounded pretty bad. But now I've seen it for myself and it's STILL worse! And Berry looked down on X-Men??? Is this supposed to be a parody? Seriously, that would explain it. Oh dear me I do like sushi now.....milk, cream straight up. Hahaaaa. oooh a dog, I'll hiss at him. Aint I cool?? Hahaaaaaaa.................I'm lauhgin'. No wait, I'm crying. Seriously this makes the Punisher trailer look good suddenly. And Balltoucher, yes we are judging wether or not to go to this movie by seeing a trailer. Guess what, that's what trailers ARE FOR! To sell the movie, to let us know what it is about, what the tone and style is so we (hopefully) will want to see it. Well, I saw the trailer and it looks 'Batman & Robin' bad. Literally. That's my reaction. It does not make me want to see it. And yes, Berry is an extremely overrated actress. She got famous on looks an did not deserve that oscar. Her own speech pretty much proclaimed her the black female Jesus of movie actors and made me want to retch. Her attitude on past projects and her tendency to hit people in cars, drive off and lie about make her less than likeable. And frankly, she looks as white as me, so I never even understand why she's called 'black'. If one parent is white and one is black, how come she is know as a black actress? You could call her white just as easily. Would that make her less popular? Then she'd suddenly be just another hot white chick I guess. She's 50% of both. Are we still in the fifties where a drop of non-caucasian blood made racial purists consider a person 'black' already? THAT seems oddly racist to me. Oh and Harry? PETER USTINOV IS DEAD! PUT UP A FRIGGIN' ARTICLE! What, did he snub you once or something? Far lesser men than him have gotten huge ass eulogies on this site. Get your ass in gear!

My take on it is that the idea of a movie about Catwoman was weak in the first place. Tim Burton's 1992 imaging of the character in Batman Returns was strong enough to close the file. The trailer is trying to be sharp and action packed like an action-sci-fi TV series they would show on Space. Her character at the beginning sounds alot like Storm. I think it is not as bad as people say, but don't we all enjoy to see a big-budget film miss the mark completely? Does it not remind us that after all, Hollywood is not that manipulative and should never underestimate the brains of his audience? When a movie lacks content, smells like deja vu and skips on decent character development, people skip it. BUT first trailers can be sometimes terrible and the movie good: I remember the FIRST X-MEN preview. Wolverine was just an unknown at the time, swirling around the Statue of Liberty in one of the sketchiest CGI's ever (they retouched it 100 times). Then the movie came out and... a very decent picture it was.

    New Scatwoman synopsis....

    by ravenlocke

Patience Price (initially played by Denise Richards...who should have been Catwoman) is a mousy little secretary working at a cosmetics firm. She discovers a sinister plot from within her company. A henchman throws her off the top of a building where she lands headfirst in a moving dumptruck full of cat $hite. She sinks deep in the $hite and does not emerge for 3 days, upon which time the feces has penetrated deep into her skin and horribly discoloring it. Price, now being played by Berry, is fuming (in more ways than one) and looking for revenge as SCATWOMAN. Her uncanny powers of stinking up every scene she is in, licking toilet bowls clean, and sharing screen time with equally crappy Sharon Stone has the bad guys (and the audience) running aimlessly for their lives! Go see Scatwoman on July 23rd and see how bad $hite can stink!
