Cool DAWN OF THE DEAD Promo On USA NETWORK!!

Published at:  Mar 08, 2004 7:05:58 AM CST

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...

Hats off to Universal. They must really like this movie and believe in it, and everything I’m hearing suggests that they are right to be confident.

Check this out. This is a cool promotional idea, and I’ll definitely check it out when it airs...

Harry,

You've probably already seen this story, but I thought I'd write you just in case - Universal's cable surrogate USA Network will air the first ten minutes of the Dawn of the Dead remake, unedited, on March 15th between 10 and 10:30 PM. Universal took out a full-page ad in the New York Times to promote this (apparently) unprecedented publicity move, and an article with a few more details can be found here:

Take care,

Pendragon

Thanks for the heads-up. I don’t read the TIMES, so I wouldn’t have heard about it.

"Moriarty" out.

    What a surprise there.

Personally, I watch TV so I can pretend I'm better than USA Today.

Honestly, who can't wait five Goddamned days? Maybe doing this two or even three weeks before might get some juices flowing, but five days? I'm sad to say, it sounds like the studio is convinced they have a great...openingtoamovie.

    The preview is AWESOME!

BUT... as is usually the case in movieland.. the movie itself will probably not live up. I can only hope... will most likely wait untit until this one hits the dollar theater, btw, unless the reviews are stellar. ("Cabin Fever" ruined me for hype on horror movies... don't EVEN argue!!!)

the first 10 minutes is nothing compared to the rest

    by the grobe

Trust me. Or not, your loss. The first 10 minutes set up the theater I saw this with and didn't let up. There are great character moments which only makes it better when they die, there are actual character arcs (in a horror movie? never!) and the humor is cynical and realistic instead of campy. In short, you can hold your precious 70's b-movies (hey I love 'em too) close to your heart but this is a great horror movie in its own right, done very very well. I'll be seeing it a few more times in the theater myself.
