Best Buy Does Something Right' HELLBOY Must Be Walking The Earth!!
Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
I expect these are the End Days. Must be, because I’m actually about to link you to the official website of Best Buy, a company that I pretty much fucking detest.
Having said that, they’re being very cool about offering online customers a chance to see the 10-minute behind-the-scenes promotional video that they’re giving away in the store on DVD this week. I watched it just now, and I’ll warn you... it gives away a lot more of the movie. If you want to see it fresh, don’t click the link. If you do watch it, though, and you like what you see... well... that’s the movie. Personally, I’m sold. I can’t wait. I think it’s absolutely beautiful, and I think the action looks amazing, one of the best comic-book worlds I’ve seen realized so far. Cannnot WAIT to see the movie...
Hi Harry,
Bestbuy.com is showing a 10 minute behind the scenes clip of HELLBOY. All I gotta say is... IT KICKS ASS!!!!HERE’S THE LINK!!
maul731Thanks, man, and thanks to everyone else who sent in e-mails to point it out.
"Moriarty" out.

What do hellboy and Jeremy Beadle have in common?
-
YAPHET KOTTO, BITCH!
-
And by monsters I mean Beadle wanking. Ooh, imagine that!
Anyhoo, has anyone read the GDT interview on coming soon from Feb. It seems that if all goes well the sequel for HB would follow the conquerer worm story, replete with Roger joining the BRPD and Bruce Campbell as Lobster Johnson! If that isn't incentive enough to throw your geek cash at this film nothing is.
I am very excited by this flick and its subsequent spunklicious extended dvd release. God, I hope it makes good money. -

Your prize = respect. And, if i can find it, a life size cutout of Ron Burgundy (yes, I'm so random!!!! and zany)

I can understand it getting released four, maybe five weeks later to give people time to market it properly in other countries. But why Sept? Especially when posters have been in UK theaters for months showing the date the release as 2nd April.....that's clever.....
-
Jebus H Christmas. How much would a weekend in New Yoik cost? SEPTEMBER?!!Fuck.
-
If you want a nice hard copy of all this Hellboy stuff (two trailers plus the 10 minute promo plus other trailer odds and ends like Spidey 2 and Secret Window), go to any Best Buy and grab the free sampler DVD.
P.S. Best Buy don't suck. -
What was the name of this company where I can buy all my DVD needs for rock bottom prices???

Shrink, Best Buys are actually Worst Buy in some regions....
by sith witch
I think it all depends upon the region you live in. I live in Oklahoma, and Best Buy is despised for being too pricey. It is just the opposite of what you stated; At Wal-Mart we can get a movie for $14.00, but at Best Buy it would cost around $25.00. I have no idea why there would be regional differences in price, but it seems to exist, based off the example you gave. So around here, the name "Best Buy" is sort of a joke.
The only thing is that sometimes Best Buy will have a rarer item Wal-Mart will not have, but in that event Half.com or Amazon.com is the place to turn to. -
this movie is going to suck
-
Do you mean this movie is going to suck as opposed to VulgarBob already sucks as in ass?
-
When's Del Toro gonna go back to making quality genre films like CHRONOS and DEVIL'S BACKBONE? This Hollywood crap is getting old. This looks as unwatchable as BLADE 2. And Best Buy is great for DVDs and CDs (though their selection sucks), but they just use those prices as loss leaders to bait people into buying their overpriced tvs, stereos and microwaves.
-
Moriarty if you have a grudge with something like Best Buy, not giving your reasons does nothing other make you seem like you're snob. I suggest explaining yourself, or doing what a formal reporter would do and not state your bias (being informal is neither good nor bad, imo, just diffrent).
-
That's odd. Every Best Buy that I've ever been to in the LA area lives up to its name. They have the cheapest prices around. Maybe it is a regional thing.
-
Arent they basically the same shit?

Hell, I work there and I hate it too. But BB has definately tried to be an ally to DVD and it is because of them that DVD has become so popular. You think places like Amazon or any other higher end dealer is going to cater to the unwashed masses? I remember when you couldn't find DVDs anywhere around here but BB did have two or three sections dedicated to the format. Before I worked there, that's where I got my $400 DVD player with The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly and Contact and L.A. Confidential. Yes, they try to sucker people with all of their 'add on' stuff like service agreements and ISP contracts, but all it takes is a simple 'NO' and you can usually get a damn good deal. For all of the bad things they have done, there is several times more good things they have done. Remember, they never ever sold DiVX which was a huge threat to DVD.

cause that's the best place to get em, as far as I've seen. Now if you want expensive, shop at Suncoast. They will rape your family members. Hellboy rules.

Bring on Hellboy!

We should all go buy DVDs at Amazon for twice as much as they are at BB. Amazon's only good for the occasional instance of a hard to find disc.
-
Yeah sure Walmart has good prices on DVD's...but, when it comes to selection and guaranteeing to find it in Widescreen format - Best Buy is my store of choice. Especially if you're a collector of older movies or even movies that have been out for more than a year. And Best Buy's prices are comparable to Walmart 14.99 (BB) vs 14.49 (WM) or even 19.89 (WM) vs 19.99/21.99 (BB). I have nearly 300 movies on DVD and around 150 came from Best Buy, the rest came from Walmart, Amazon, and Columbia House.

Mori's as full of shit about Best Buy as he was with his PASSION
by commando cody
Personally, I agree with others. If Mori thinks it's somehow cool or Hollywood trendy to cop an attitude and shoot off his fat yap about Best Buy, the least he should do is ALSO show he has the balls to back up his snideness with a little thing called facts. Or at least in a proper journalistic manner -- or in a demonstration of GOOD writing -- take a few sentences to actually explain why such a bullshit statement is tossed in. Then again, what am I saying? He'd probably only respond with yet another billion paragraph long essay that drones on forever on why Best Buy isn't good, which then culminates in a clueless, meandering manner like his PASSION review. Speaking as someone who shops Best Buy in Hollywood, I've always found they have great prices for DVDS (though on a "day off" release, I can sometimes save one extra buck by going to Circuit City.) But the Best Buy I frequent has a great selection, I've never had problems returning things, or getting them to match and beat competitor prices. In fact, I'd say BBs prices in LA are certainly as good as Amazon.com -- WHICH I've noticed this site seems to be posting an ever-increasing number of commercial links to. So maybe that's Mori's beef. Best Buy isn't interested in buying ad space here, so knocking them publicly as a retail outlet in favor of Amazon is cool. Or maybe he's just mad at Best Buy because he got some DVD freebies that he then turned around and tried to claim he bought there in order to trade them in (or cash them in), and they called him on his scam and told him "No receipt, take a hike!"

ANGEL...LIVE! REALLY!!! "Boreanaz live at a BUFFY/ANGEL Fan Event in Chicago weekend of May 14, 2004! www.FlashBackWeekend.com " I got this in an email from my brother in Berwyn, IL, USA!!! I'm in the reserves overseas right now, but I keep up with AICN...AWESOME!!! Have fun Scoobs....

I have to disagree. I live in Oklahoma City, and Best Buy is without doubt the best place in this city to buy dvds. They have more titles than anywhere else and the cheapest prices, including a far larger section of horror and sci-fi. Near as I can tell, Harry hates Best Buy because he doesn't get kickbacks from them like he does from Amazon. Every time one of us clicks on something on this site that sends us to Amazon, it's money in Harry's pocket.

As someone who's apparently very proud of his DVD collection, Mori should have more respect for Best Buy's role in helping the fledgeling format survive in its early days. My experience with DVDs goes back before they were even released in America. My first DVDs were purchased in Japan in late 1996, at least 4 months before the U.S. release of players or discs, so I remember what it was like to not be able to find any DVDs for my Sony DVP-S7000 region-free player. Best Buy was one of the few places anywhere that you could always count on to have a decent (and current) selection of DVDs. This was at a time when Circuit Shitty was trying to con everyone into buying into their ridiculous DIVX system. Best Buy played a fundemental role in getting early-adopters like me to take a chance on standard DVD. And yes, if you didn't have a DVD player before Christmas 1997, you are NOT an early adopter. I'd be curious to find out when Mori got his first DVD player and discs, because I don't know one early-adopter friend (Yes, we tend to each other from CES, Stereophile and other trade/AV hobbyist shows) who won't give BB the credit it's due. Best Buy must have reamed Mori really bad on a purchase or something to get this kind of reaction, because their support of the DVD format cannot be faulted.
