Hellboy's gonna own, trailers like this and the original are getting people really curious about what the hell this movie is about and it'll draw quite a crowd. I bet you ass-bastards who think this is gonna flop were the same ones who predicted the same fate for The Passion of the Christ. Oh ye of little faith, you suck so much.

You know, the thing that looks like the Revolution Studios logo? What the f' is that thing? The demonic Nazis gateway to hell? Movie looks meh-ish, but poopooloads better than "Underworld" or "LXG" or "Van Helsing." Sucks it's not Rated R.

By the way, GdT is well aware that some of the shots in Blade 2 look like shit. Listen to the commentary. As for this flick - let's all try and remeber it was made for half of what most other superhero movies get, because the director stuck to the source material and also didn't hire Vin Deisel.

Seed of Destruction is the first one, they're coming out with numbered covers. But Hellboy is light (relatively) on continuity, so you can enjoy any of them. They improve quite a bit over the course of the series as well.

Better trailer, show more of Hellboy's personality

    by crithon reborn

I've been dissappointed with all the Hellboy trailers. But in each of them they have one or two lines that just FEEL like I'm really seeing Hellboy. I agree with a lot of people these trailers feel too much like LXG or X2, and that's proably becuase the studio doesn't know how to sell Hellboy. Right now I'm more or less going on Blind faith this movie is going to be AMAZING. But the trailer just feel weak. I'm dying to see Mignola's work come to life, I want to see Rasputin at his best. I can't wait to see Hellboy get Hickies from the tounges of those Frog creatures........ How come they aren't making any refences to Frogs? Wouldn't it be cool if the whole ad campaign was just Frogs...... Uh wait, that could be a bad thing. People would assume it was "Magnolia." This trailer is a bit better, but I feel so certain if we saw his personality more then just quick cuts it will sell the movie better.

You funny little imbeciles who do nothing but rag on what is clearly destined to go down as something truly awe-inspiring should:
    A) Move out of you mother's basement
    B) Do something creative with your miserable, worthless existence
    C) For god's sake, get laid and stop showing us all your supremely low level of self esteem made painfully obvious by your sad attempts to belittle all things that cross your insignificant path
    D) Lighten up, man

lets try that again, "what the hell?"

    by halcyonseven

You prick. How the hell can you judge the movie as harshly as you have? Really "always there", when did you see the movie? Have you read the comic it is based on? Do you understand whats going on? Do you even know what good visual effects are? Or good cgi? Apparently none of the above due to your ignorant, angy post. You don't know anything you ignorant slut. Seriously, why don't you shut the hell up until you have seen the movie. Your criticims are about a movie you haven't even seen. You can say this, " I don't like the look of the characters," or "I don't like the cg" or even, "this movie looks like it has a boring story." I will even allow that final one. But you can't judge a movie you haven't seen. Like Catwoman. I think it looks like shit. But you know what? I haven't seen it. It could be good. But I think the costume looks like shit. See? Thats an opnion based out of what I know. Not based on something I DON'T KNOW. Get it? Man some of you people need to start thinking for once. Could Hellboy suck? Yes. Could Hellboy rule? Yes. If you haven't seen it then don't make judgements on anything other than what you have seen. Go read the source material. Then you can have an opinion on the story. Ignorant sluts.

I don't know much about the comic, but from what i've read about Hellboy, the movie would have been better off with a dark bent and maybe an R rating. Is it going to suck? Of course, it's a Revolution film and they make nothing BUT shit.

To whomever said something about Catwoman. I haven't seen it, but it sucks all the same. Halle Berry as an action hero = a big pile of donkey shit. She almost single-handedly fucked up the first X-Men film, I'm sure she'll have all the screen time she needs to destroy Catwoman.

Is Liz the gal with the blue fire? That looks kinda ... weak. Maybe they wanted only Hellboy to be red or something but if the gal glowing blue is supposed to be Liz, I have to say I'm feeling let down. Also her hair looked black in the trailer but in the art it is usually dark brown with a reddish tinge for accent. Meh. I guess they are going for black and blue tones, with Hellboy standing out as red. Can't say I like that. I hope the movie will be fun anyway.

    by thebuffalo

I had never heard of Hellboy, but now that I've seen the trailers I'm sorry to say that I'm not excited at all. I mean, it looks spectacular - but we all know by now that the studios are quite capable of generating exciting computer generated effects. It seems that every summer we're bombarded with adaptations of comic book heroes. It would be allright if the stories were to offer something new, but "Hellboy" is yet another "there's a secret agency protecting humanity from the dark side/scum of the universe/whatever else they throw in our direction". Please moviemakers, invest in good scripts and storylines we've never heard before!

As Much as I hate to add in the bashing, I just can't shake that

    by the founder

The trailer throws together some action scenes, but doesn't tell you jack about the characters. I get no feel on this movie what so ever. Yeah the same tried and true formula, about evil, and the destruction of the world, and blah blah, blah. I just don't feel anything. You barly here Hellboy speak, the dopey looking white guy that looks to be a new recruit of this secret governemt agency, and the super cheesy looking guy with the swords that comes out of his sleeves. He doesn't look the least bit terrorfying or skilled for that matter. He looks like a villian from the Power Rangers. As for the FX and action, something thing tells me that considering that this movie's budget was in the the 40 million range that those action and cgi sequences are the majority of what we're going to get. The movie just looks hokey. Will it be good? Can't say for sure, it'll probably turn out to be a popcorn fest, but I still stand by my opinion that this won't do well, it's just to obscure. The mainstream won't eat this up. Someone mentioned a 45 million opening weekend? Yeah right, this movie will be lucky to take in 45 million domestically. I see a 15-20 max opening weekend, with a 50-60 percent drop the 2nd week. I say it'll make about 50-60 million domestically(and I'm being kind) and probably around the same internationaly, with a little over, for a total take of around 100-120 million world wide(again I'm being kind). Jeez if Kill Bill couldn't rake in the big bucks, I know this puppy won't.

    by unchienandalou

...that pretty much eradicates the possibility that it'll be cooler than BLADE 2. THE PUNISHER may look cheesy but at least they had the sand to include hard-R carnage. There's no way that HB is going to be as bad as SPAWN but it may not be GDT's finest hour as a creator of badass coolness. I can understand SPIDERMAN's PG13 rating but I'm kind of baffled that Sony went the same route with HB. Oh well, it's not the end of the world I guess...

Exactly what are you the "Founder" of? Are you a creative driving force in the world? Do you do something other than pop your zits in the mirror and ask mommy for movie and twinkie money? How in Hell's name are you qualified to even pass judgement on how much this picture will take in? Are you a global financial analyst? Hellboy, whether you like it or not, is pretty damned obscure. It's got del Toro working on it, and Blade 2 was good, but Hellboy is still obscure with an obscure cast. So what else is there to go on? The FUCKING TRAILER, you Rhodes scholar. And the trailers for this thing are utter shit. They make it look like LXG2. You rag on someone when he's pretty much saying that the trailers are rubbing him the wrong way, which is understandable since the trailers ARE pure, uncut ass. If MOVIEFANS THAT FREQUENT MOVIE WEBSITES think the trailers make the movie look like ass, how do you think the general public's gonna view this shit? And not only that, but you use the same lameass "you're a pimply geek loser; you make a movie better! Wahhh!!" quip like it's new and original (BTW, you left out "mom's basement"). Try again, bucko.

In your opinion the trailers are utter shit. Which is ecxactly my point. You guys have seen it all and have no positive or creative criticism to offer. What you bring to the table in these forums is a washed out, negative attitude. Why don't you tell us all what would make them better? Is that too constructive for you? The general attitude you display here is "I am too stupid to identify what bothers me about this so I'll just call it shit". Don't you think that's a bit regressive? The trailers aren't bad, per se...

    by ribbons

...actually, there's a lot of cool stuff in them. But the overall conceit of the trailers (and the giant banners) released so far is, "This has to be marketed as a supergroup movie," which I'm sure isn't what Del Toro or Mignola had envisioned last year. But Revolution underestimates its audience once more, and so the only way they think they'll get audiences to take an interest in 'Hellboy' is by dragging out the tired "You don't know them, and if they do their job you won't, but this top-secret government branch will be 'called upon' to SAVE THE WORLD from the GREATEST EVIL it's EVER KNOWN!!" I imagine it must be very confusing for those unfamiliar with Hellboy to watch a trailer about the B.P.R.D. and then find out the movie's about the red guy who has about as much screen time as Agent Myers. Yeah, I'm sure they'll understand there's something you're not showing them, but if it were me, I wouldn't go see the movie with that information in mind. ******************* GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE TRAILER: the cinematography, John Hurt, Ron Perlman, some of the camera angles looked pretty nifty, "you should be running," and of course Sammael. No real complaints, although I did see one of those wire-fu flips that's blatantly wire-fu that I fucking hate. If they have time to cut another trailer, I'd make it Hellboy-centric. TRUST YOUR AUDIENCE. Plus, you're probably more likely to have more goodwill going into opening weekend if the general public knows what the main character's deal is.

    Agreed, Ribbons

    by artofwar

For better or worse, the Studio has, and will always have, their money grubbing little claws all over the promotional campaigns. It's simply a dynamic that exists by default and this hot property is no exception. I agree that Navarro's cimematography is really swell and that John Hurt brings a dignified and elegant grounding energy into this movie. Perlman, as always, rocks. I predict a healthy return for those studio suits and greater credibility and recognition to del Toro despite the executive mishandling. BTW Ribbons, Thank you for proving that AICN isn't simply a cesspool for the mentally stagnant to come and wallow.

I know Hellboy fans are excited, but prepare for disappointment.

    by gere's assgerbil

Most people who see the ads are thinking What the hell is this movie? Is it a comedy, as one would assume from the cheesy title and cheesy makeup? Or is it a horror movie because it has lots of monsters? From viewing the trailer, I think the biggest mistake is that they don't go far enough in either direction. Most people will see the trailer and commercials for this thing and shake their heads and say "Whatever." They're not going to buy into this as an action movie. However bad the movie is, though, I'm sure we can count on a glowing review from our boy Harry. Way to do your part, man!

"Most pepople" aren't going to see this movie. For the same reson that "most people" watch Leno instead of Letterman. This movie is for the rest of us who appreciate what this director and this film will deliver. It's O.K. that not everyone appreciates what Mignola or GDT serve up. That's what makes their work so cool. This isn't Disney gang, it's far, far better.
