A ton of KILL BILL VOL 2 Pics - including a major spoiler!
Hey folks, Harry here... First off, the "trailer" at the Japanese KILL BILL site isn't the "Trailer" for the film, but something that the Japanese put together for their official site. As for why we don't have a U.S. trailer for KILL BILL VOL. 2 yet? Frankly, it's because they haven't decided on what they're going to do in terms of releasing it yet. There is talk of moving it from February to April, but I've also heard rumors that Quentin wants to open this second part at Cannes, though that is by no means confirmed. Personally, I wish it was coming in February, because the first part of 2004 looks to be the single worst 2 months in cinema history as I look at the alleged release schedule, and having a rather grim outlook on things, that original February release date would have been the first bright moment for Cinema 2004... alas, everything is in limbo, for now. However, the site link below has around 23 or so pictures from the second film, including a couple of major spoilers. So watch out, especially for that last one.
I can't believe someone else didn't point out this site
EmpireMovies.Com's KILL BILL VOLUME 2 Page!
The pictures are more amazing and the last one is a doozie.
The trailers are really disappointing, especially compared to the first teaser trailer, which was the greatest trailer of all time in my opinion.
Hopefully volume 2 will be the substance to pair with 1's style.
Kill Bill definitley needs more quotables'.
How about that Uma Thurman? She has all this momentum in her career with Kill Bill then she kills it with a movie starring Ben Affleck.Jeez why dosen't she just play Poison Ivy again.
Kill Bill 3 with Hulk Hogan as the baddie."Silly rabbit trix are for kids, brother!!!!
Those never get old.

Word to tha motha! Kill Bill will kill all!!!
-
So what??
-
This movie will own.
I have never felt so vindicated as when I saw Volume 1.
After listening to most of the so called experts on this site who posted again and again about how bad this movie would blow, it was with great ecstasy that I watched Volume 1, IMO the best movie of 2003. Yes it was even better than RoTK, by far.
Kudos to you Harry for supporting this from day one, and a huge HAHA to all you fools who bitched that cutting the movie in 2 parts would kill it.
Ah it's great to be right! -
Kill Bill Vol 2 will rule, and splitting it into two parts was a great idea.

Hmm, who knew?

Why aren't Tarantino and Miramax maximizing KILL BILL's profitab
by shanghai nicky
....releasing VOL II in October 2004, one year after VOL I? A year's wait (becoming standard now, after the LOTR films) would only have built anticipation. Also, if they'd kept the screenplay offline (it was available in its entirety on Screenplays For You a year or so before VOL I opened), and if they'd kept it a closely-guarded secret the way the Bond and STAR WARS people guard their scripts, we'd all be going beserk wondering what was going to happen in VOL II. I'll wager that most of us who post here at AICN already know and for many many months have known EXACTLY how VOL II plays out. Basically, what I'm saying, in a roundabout way, is that this puppy could have been marketedly somewhat more shrewdly.

but I think Bill actually gets killed in this one.

And man will I ever be pissed off if it isn't inside my brain by March.

Am I the only one who notices that the Hulk Hogan thing is tired and dead? ... I guess so.
-
Okay, the film has already been shot, right? VOL. 1 is pretty much gone (if not totally gone) from the first-run theaters, so why the holdup? You're not going to get any more anticipation for this film by sitting on it because anyone who missed VOL. 1 is not going to go see VOL. 2. And the only way you'll bump up ticket sales for VOL. 2 is to hurry up and get the VOL. 1 DVD out......Hmmmm...I guess Quentin COULD just sit on the film for a while...
-
never in my life have i been so disapointed with a movie, that i wanted to enjoy.

If you saw Part I, then you already know that The Bride's daughter is still alive. Bill says that in the last line of the movie. So why is that picture a surprise in any way?

GREETINGS PROGRAMS!
As I'm British I usually have to wait for Yank releases, For Translating they say, Yerr Right we speak English as do they.
What really gets me are the Xmas movies that open after Christmas But for non xmas movies at least it makes January OK at the cinema. The quiet time in the UK tends to be March to July then it inproves in August, Of course there are exceptions but they are rare.
What really gets to me is that with the delay it allows Criminals (and I usually mean Drug Dealers) to pirate these movies on video and DVD in the seedier places in Europe. A major point for these fakes is The Barras Market in My own Glasgow, In fact a party from Hiollywood was in the city last month to see how bad it actually is. No sooner than Police hall one pirate to Jail another takes his place even that same day!
Mind you This may change rumours are The Barras Market will be turned in to High price apartments in the next two years But the fakers will only move to another market maybe Pollok on the south of the city?
If we got releases at the same time as America it would put many of the pirates out of business and SAVE HOLLYWOO MONEY!
END OF LINE. -
I mentioned The Barras Market and Pollok market, Both in Glasgow, Scotland, UK.
The Barras Market is a market that runs at the weekend in an area called the Barras. The Market gave the name to the area and comes from when the market holders sold there produce out of Barrels or Barras in Glaswegian.
The Pollok Market is a colletion of stalls that have been set up in the empty section of The Pollok Shopping Centre. It tends to run all the time But this may change as The Pollok Centre is about to be expanded and the market may go. -
if Q did that, the films would take themselves way too seriously.
-
Ouch. I own the Criterion Edition of ARMAGEDDON. But only for the commentary were Ben Affleck makes fun of the movie and Billy Bob. And it was only $10 (used) Plus it's funny as hell that there is a Criterion Edition of ARMAGEDDON, one of the worst films made (next to Gigli Which I would buy if Ben Affleck makes fun of it in a commentary, he's best on Kevin Smith's Viewaskew DVD Commentary tracks, that's where I see why he has an oscar)

They are actually angry and mad that someone would dare question Tarantio's right to charge them TWICE for the same movie .'''''''''''''Now I thought Kill Bill was a good movie and think ALL Tarantio movies are great but even I know that he decided to chop it in half only to make more cash. Which is fair enough. But to hear fan boys go on about how artful and great for the movie that was and get mad is funny.
-
If I was a studio exec, hell yeah id wait till later in the year to release it.
Kicker being id have the original's dvd released to tide over the fans, and most importantly to win new ones over. With Blockbuster and shipped to sell Best Buy/Circuit City pricing, your guaranteed to gain a new audience for the first, which means guaranteed more ticket sales for the second -
You all know its true.......

Actually, KILL BILL is better than the MATRIX and LOTR films
by shanghai nicky
The MATRIX pictures are nothing more than special effects showcases with a dollop of cod-mysticism. The LOTR films are far better, but with that legacy and that source material you couldn't really screw up. KILL BILL, on the other hand, is a completely original universe created by Tarantino, with a fresh story and atmosphere, a considerably greater achievement than those of the Wachowskis and Jackson.
-
I really , really, really wanted to like Kill Bill. Unfortunately most of it bored me silly. I was actually very happy that greedy old Harvey chopped it into two parts, I honestly couldn't sit through another minute of. If I were 14 instead of 32 I'd embrace Kill Bill as my favourite film of all time! Walter Hill could have done the ENTIRE bloody thing in an economical 94 minutes. I hope Uma realizes all she's gotta do to take Michael "I spent the 2nd half of the 90s in straight to DVD movies" Madsen out, is karate chop him in his jelly belly.

some of you are very good at arguing the logical merits of whether or not kill bill is a good movie, and some of you completely suck at it. but either way, while sure it had some problems, the movie was one big-ass vanity project that just kicked ass. what movie fan could not appreciate uma thurman looking down on a room full of groaning injured yakuza with severed limbs and blood everywhere? sure it's mindless, but damn it, quentin does mindless right. i can't wait for the second one, not to mention many nights with my buddies enjoying the dvd's over my pipe and some grey goose on the rocks. cheers!
-
I come to AICN for the news and read the talkbacks to laugh at people who take things too seriously.
-
honestly... who gives a shit?
-
yeah but there's so much bullshit out there with sleek, hip stylized fighting and no actual gore. it's just not as cool if you don't get the sense that at any moment a character could have both its legs chopped off by a three-foot razor blade.
-
Unoriginal and Uninspired was all that Kill Bill was. It wasn't cool and wasn't good. Another hyped up film by this site which failed to deliver. Its getting quite regular for Harry to hype something up to Kingdom Come, only for it to die a whimpering death. The hype should be starting for the next disaster, Spidey 2. Now there's a film thats going to dissapoint.
-
How many American movies had you ever seen before in which however-many years of Asian grindhouse fare was squeezed through a duck press? I can't remember the last Hollywood movie I saw in which Cato-masked villains and babes with samurai swords quipped and slashed in a 60s-style psychedelic Tokyo to a soundtrack featuring everything from obscure Japanese ballads to Lalo Schifrin, and from the Wu Tung Clan to Tomoyatsu Hotei (sp?). If Tarantino were merely a plagiarist, if it were so easy to do what he's doing, don't you think every goatee-bearded wannabe in Tinseltown would be doing it too, to the same rapturous acclaim? There was only one film I saw in 2003 that felt genuinely fresh and original, that showed me things I'd never seen before: KILL BILL VOL 1. And calling Tarantino unoriginal on the basis of his having many (fully admitted to) influences is like calling Beethoven unoriginal because he never struck any notes on his keyboard that hadn't been struck before in musical history.
-
Seems to me I read something on this site not long ago about how Miracle (Feb. 6) was impressing its test audiences, so it can't be THAT bad for the first part of the year.
-
So, some guy says it sucks for people to like these movies, and next thing you know every single comment that comes after is talking shit about the movie? Hmm... nice reaction, guys...
Anyway, I love Kil Bill, I love LotR, and if anyone says that I'm wrong, well, I guess I am, but I don't care. I feel much better loving these movies to death than hating them, but hell, if you think I'm stupid just for how I feel, that's your problem, not mine. -
Look, I'm just telling you what I heard. I don't want to be a gossip or anything, but the word is that this person is a complete shit stain.
-
most people on this site (at least the ones that bother to post in the TB's) seem to not understand the nature of thinking critically. of course that's to be expected i guess, given the large percentage of talkbackers that are probably still in high school or below, that magical age where you believe you're thinking critically but don't yet understand what that means. one thing that's consistent with every single talkback thread: the first few posts tend to praise the movie or the idea of the movie (not all the time, but they tend to), and then one person posts something negative (intelligently or not), and everyone seems to jump on the bandwagon and start trashing the movie in question. if a kid in his basement decides that a movie has been over-hyped, he assumes that the intelligent, independent, critically-thinking thing to do is to start trashing it. this will prove to the world that he's smart and that he's not Like The Rest. what this kid doesn't get is that there are countless other adolescents with the same idea and his heroic attempt at noncomformity gets caught up in the din of a hundred other punks doing the same thing. it reminds me of the goth movement. anyway to put it simply: Trashing [Insert Film Title Here] Does Not Make You Smart. some of you don't like a certain movie and tell people why in an intelligent way, but you're a minority, and i'm not talking to you. it's a lot easier to seem smart by trashing something rather than by defending it; and a lot of you are trying to seem smart rather than be smart, and you don't even know it.
-
wow, i.... i didn't know.....

Sorry Harry to call you on it, but this is the very FIRST of HUNDREDS of TIMES that you will be pimping Kill Bill 2 just like you did for volume 1...prove me wrong man, I dare you.

The same can be said about films and film-goers. If one person says that the film is the best film of all time, everyone then jumps on the bandwagon to look good and praises it to the high heavens. The same as you are saying about people trashing films after someone begins trashing it in these talkbacks. The reason Kill Bill didnt work for myself was that as a child of the 70's, I have been there, seen it and bought the T-shirt countless number of times.
-
Anybody know what's going to be on it? Shouldn't it be coming out soon? It was, after all(IMHO), the best thing about the 1st one. And that comes from a true life Buck who likes to phuck, from Huntsville, TX.
-
for that u can say "LOTR" was original cuz there hasn't been an american movie in years with wizards... or matrix cuz there hasn't been a movie in years without white guys with dreds.
60 psychadelic schlocko, checkout the horrendous house of the dead. kato masks, samurai swords, been done tenfold, sure in asian, but just because it wasn't done in america doesn't mean it's fresh... this was a revenge film made from other bits of karate flicks, and self-aware dialogue, the movie was good but nothing spectacular. -
you're right, cuz it's his site, and he likes the movies. he doesn't want to prove you wrong. more accurately he doesn't give a shit.

this is why i'm not saying it's the greatest film of all time. ;) still loved it though. and if you didn't, well then... then... you're just obviously GAY! yeah that's right!! gay!

by darth phallus
I saw KILL BILL twice in the theatre and both times I nearly tossed my cookies when they showed her ugly gnarly extra long and bony feet. Sweet Jesus! It looked like she could swoop down and carry off a small child with those feet! Yech! Couldn't they get a foot model? And Tarantino supposedly has this big foot fetish and yet you'd think he'd have better asthetic taste than that. Plus, in a recent interview, after breaking up with her husband and father of her child, Ethan Hawke, after she caught him cheating she says in print, "All men cheat." No, Uma, just jerkwad losers just like young Hollywood types who think they are above everyone and are unfortunately rewarded by a society that caters to them for doing nothing more than being the best at playing pretend. Can't wait to see the end of Kill Bill tho, it's like eating the other half of a big, greasy, disgusting and you know it's bad for you ROYALE w/ CHeese. When you buy your ticket for KILL BILL VOL.2 they should ask you, "You want fries with that?"

by commando cody
...and the best part? It'll have some serious kick ass kung fu, sword lobbing, sweet dialogue, hip music and all told -- just like Part 1 which I loved -- it'll help put to rest this utterly bullshit mentality running around AICN that all future cinema needs to roll over and play dead because we've been graced with ROTK, so now there's no need for future movies. Screw that bullshit. Hey, I enjoyed ROTK -- it was fun, looked great, the actors did their parts competently, but it certainly had its fair share of filmmaking holes too. I mean, give me a break already. It was just a fucking movie and its time will shortly pass. So looking ahead to the future, on with the next round, I say! Bring on next summer already! Speaking of which, where the hell's the VAN HELSING trailer already? I just KNOW Hugh Jackman is going to rule the world in that one.

I think the only way to truly criticize a movie is to look at what it is comprised of: Images, sound quality, actor quality, story, etc. Tackling each element seperately would almost prove you smarter than just stating that whoever loves KILL BILL: VOLUME I gets it up the bung hole.
Here's my reasons for liking/disliking KILL BILL: VOLUME I.
1) Sound quality (includes music)
-I have not heard music this snazzy(is this a word I can legally use?) ever. It fit the movie, in an odd fashion. However, the sound effects were normal, with nothing standing out at all.
2) Acting
-Uma Thurman is an ok actress, but she can play the revenge part well. She wouldn't have been my first choice for that role, but that's what makes the movie work. Action films don't require a lot of acting, so you can't take too many points off for bad acting.
3) Story
-The story is a revenge story, which has been done countless times and in a few more recent fliks. This one has a flare in the sense that it is a cruel story. At no point did the story ever take a break from being heartless. Well, maybe except for the ending when you notice Uma's character sit down exhausted after killing Oren. Killing an old buddy does take its toll on you.
It's for these three elements that make the movie fun to watch. Now day's there's no such thing as the best movie in the world and there never will be the best movie in the world, ever. Enjoy the flik and be glad that it came about now instead of the 80's.... ;) -
As a fan of yours i would like to say i hope you have got this vol1 and vol2 shit out of your system , don't missunderstand me i love your work , i love kill bill , i spent a small fortune to charity to get a ticket to the London premire which you were at and loved it , however i would still prefer to see the whole film. This waiting around to see the next part is starting to get on my nerves !. I can see that some part of splitting the film was organic as it was not originally intended to be a two part film and as much as you yourself defend splitting the film i hope you have learned a valuable insight from this decision. How do you want to be remembered as a film maker ? . I still think even with your passionate defence of splitting the film that it was ultimately a money stunt so from a hardcore Tarantino fan i don't believe you!! now you have to understand how hard that is for me to say. So please for your next work can we go for a proper movie effect and not a TV serial.

Liked Kill Bill but it did feel kind of empty and it still does.
by sk909
I don't know what Volume Two is giong to do for Volume One, but it is going to have to do a lot. The whole thing just felt like a video game, where you're going from level boss to level boss. I thought the visuals were awesome, the best and most original of the year, but it lacked decent dialogue and the dialogue that was there felt forced, especially the scene between Uma and Vivica. And all of that shit from Lucy Liu just seems kind of stupid in retrospect. I know I'm criticizing it a lot, but I actually did enjoy watching it, but I don't think it's anywhere near as good as Harry says (big surprise) and it certainly is miles behind any of QT's other films, which, I believe, are all masterworks, with Pulp being up there with the best films ever made. Don't know, just didn't feel much for any of the characters and the whole experience felt empty. That could all change with Volume 2, but I doubt it.
-
saw hero got it riped from dvd! and i have to tell you all, while i think its a cool movie its not as good as kill bill vol 1
-
It seems like more people on here should watch QT's director comments on the Kill Bill 1 DVD. He basically doesn't claim he's written some classic film, he says he just found a way to take his favorite parts from Samurai movies, Hong Kong action movies, old kungfu flicks, and spaghetti westerns. Some of the movie is quite tongue in cheek. I don't think avoiding artifice was a concern.
