Herc won’t be back from BNAT till Tuesday, and I know we’ll hear about it when we get back if we don’t put up the big talkback space for SciFi’s new controversy magnet, the “Battlestar Galactica” miniseries.
My own memories of the original "Battlestar" are murky and none-too-fond, but I was looking forward to the remake because it was co-scripted by Ron Moore, he of “Star Trek: First Contact,” “Deep Space Nine,” and “Carnivale” fame.

Variety got their review up Thursday. A couple excerpts:
… Like a present-day aircraft carrier, "Battlestar Galactica" takes a while to find its directional heading and build up steam, but once it does, this proves to be a surprisingly engrossing odyssey. … Despite some languid moments along the way, there's a strong sense of tension in the concluding hour, which cleverly establishes where a potential series might go without leaving so many strands dangling as to be unsatisfying if the voyage ends here.
