Some Behind-The-Scenes Images From THE LIFE AQUATIC!!

Published at:  Nov 20, 2003 6:30:25 AM CST

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...

This is still one of my favorite reads of the year. In fact, a second reading of the script that Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach co-wrote has actually left me even more fond of what they’re trying to do here. It’s a really wonderful screenplay that should translate to another of Anderson’s instant classics.

Harry, Ted here. A friend of mine who's a huge Wes Anderson fan stumbled across these earlier today and I'm almost positive I haven't seen them reported anywhere yet. They're set pics from Anderson's next - "The Life Aquatic." Man, I can't wait for this one. If that script review y'all ran a while back wasn't enough, then that shot of Owen Wilson in the blue captain's suit thing will surely seal the deal. And I don't think the way I phrased the previous sentence could be any more ridiculous. Anyway, enjoy...

CLICK HERE AND DIG ON OWEN WILSON’S BLUE JACKET!!

Thanks, Ted. Nice catch.

"Moriarty" out.

This film can't fail. The premise is hilarious, the cast is replete with talent and Wes knows his movies. Can't wait.

He was the king of quips, but is looking tired these days... I still hope and dream for another stripes/ghostbusters/groundhog etc performance.

    Lookin good.

Not bad I'd say. Most of the pics really have that familiar fable type look to it. So far Wes Anderson has had a clear track record with most of his movies so I'm pretty excited about this. I can't wait to see this thing.

    Gark, this is for you

This is off the top of my head but...Murray plays a cousteau-like undersea photographer questing for the first footage of a rare shark. A tragic accident involving said shark kills Murray's closest companion and leads to him re-evaluating the worth of the pursuit. However, he assembles a new crew to once again lead the life aquatic. This time though the crew consist of Owen Wilson as the young buck looking to usurp his seniority and a love interest, who I guess will be Angelica Huston. Look for Mori's script review for more accurate detail.

Looks like TENEBAUMS ON A BOAT. Anderson's a talented guy, but he's beginning to look like a one trick pony.

    by magyarman

this looks scrumptious. I CANNOT imagine Wes Anderson ever leading me astray.....this film will rock. Oh and in response to the "one trick pony" remark, well that is just pure ignorance my friend :) So he has a certain "tone" to his films, big shit. So does Scorsese, Burton, the Coens, etc.

    Me? Ignorant?

    by renata

I'm afraid you're the ignorant one. Scorsese is as far from a 'one trick pony" as you can get: He followed MEAN STREETS with ALICE DOESN'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE, a film with completely dissimilar themes and characters and style. Can you say the same for Anderson's first three films? No. Who's ignorant now?

  • But I say: It's still a hell of a movie. That's more than you can say about 99 percent of the rest of the hacks working today. So you whiners can bite me.

    uhh why isn't owen cowriting

    by demosthenes2

I saw the Baumbach movie Kicking and Screaming and thought it was pretty trite, and his other movie Mr. Jealousy was supposed to be disastrous.

I know he might not be able to BUT...

    by harmoniumsaver

could Anderson make another Bottle Rocket?? Something with characters you look at and go 'hm, what is this movie?' as opposed to 'this movie looks funny because it is cartoony.' Well, with the Stop-motion in planning, I hope this movie is awesome. I hope it doesn't drag either, kinda like Tenenbaums did at points.
