Sam Jackson - THE INCREDIBLES, NICK FURY, EPISODE 3 & KILL BILL VOL 2!

Published at:  Nov 19, 2003 4:18:11 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry here... Sam Jackson talking about having talks regarding playing NICK FURY... I haven't seen the new issues where they've reconceived him to look like Sam Jackson... I have to admit, I'd love to see Sam Jackson play a bad ass seasoned Super Spy that kicks all manners of ass... Hell, the thought reeks of cool, but I just don't see why you'd have to call the character Nick Fury... Maybe it's just me, but I've spent years dreaming of a supercool Steranko period Nick Fury played by Kurt Russell and directed by John Carpenter. But it seems from the interview that Avi Arad and Sam have been talking about various options... who would YOU like to see Sam play from the Marvel Universe? Personally -- Seeing him play a full on pissed as hell 70's era LUKE CAGE with that chain belt would just OWN... Meanwhile... finding out that Sam is playing Mr Incredible's best friend with FREEZING powers is awesome... and... is it just me, or does Sam have great taste in projects here? Click through and read about SAM "The Man" Jackson!!!

Howdy y'all

A coupla days ago I interviewed Sam Jackson and he chatted about his role in The Incredibles (not the villain, as previously reported), as well as Nick Fury and potential projects with Marvel (not to mention Mace Windu's death in Star Wars). Also, some bits on Kill Bill volume 2, Swat and more.

I think there's some new info on many of these subjects that I haven't seen anywhere before.

    The Ultimates

    by dogsoup

Yeah they had that scene where all of the Neo Avengers were casting themselves in thier own movie. Bruce Banner went on a Hulk rampage and killed 300 people because they cast him with Steve Buscemi and it hurt his feelings. Well that and Betty was on a date with Freddie Prinze Jr at the time. " HULK WANT FREDDIE PRINZE JR!!!" No Lie.

    Nick Fury

    by kingofthefools

Kurt Russel and John Carpenter have already done a kick ass Steranko version of Nick Fury. His name was Snake Pliskin (Note the eye patch and facial stubble) and he did two Escape movies.
    Thank you for your time.

Early Ultimates is damn fine stuff

    by filker-tom

Issues 1-7 of The Ultimates flat-out rock, and I know you can get at least #s 1-6 in a collection. After they got into the cheap-ass alien invasion story, I dropped the main book, although the new Ultimate Six (w/Spider-Man) is very good, although they seem to think Peter Parker resembles Disney's Quasimodo. And, yes, "HULK WANT FREDDIE PRINZE JR.!" is one of the all-time classic lines.

    Harry, you are an idiot

    by normal-guy

Man I hate your comments. You are just so far out of the real world and into your own "this is my friend so everything they do is great" existence.

Anyway, Sam Jackson should be Deathlok. He is so NOT Luke Cage and Nick Fury.

    I love Sam Jackson...love his movies...but...

    Nick Fury is white.
    Kingpin is white.

What's up Hollywood? There are PLENTY of other super hero roles for Sam Jackson to play that would be more appropriate.

    What's next -- a Chinese Superman?

  • If they were doing an Ultimates movie, OK, then get Sam for Nick. But if you're talking the regular Marvel Universe Nick Fury, then you need somebody like a young Clint Eastwood. Somebody who can seduce chicks and still kick ass like nobody's business. Of course, the big controversy is, will they let him chomp on a cigar in the film?

Fury should be played by Tom Berenger.

If they need somebody more popular and up-to-date, Clooney would be fine. Even Bruce Willis could be cool. But, please - no Screamin' Sam Jackson.

I always wanted Fury to be played by Tom Berenger.

But, if they need somebody more popular and up-to-date, Clooney would be fine. He looks just like Fury. And, even Bruce Willis could be cool. But, please - no Screamin' Sam "Motherfucker" Jackson. All that guy knows how to do is yell and swear. That's it, that's his whole range of talent.

More important than the CASTING is the TONE for a Nick Fury movi

    by frankdrebin

It can't be just some low-budget hunt-for-the-microfilm, shoot-out-with-the-traitor thing. It's gotta be BIG! Like a midair assault on the Yellow Claw's flying fortress from SHIELD's heli-carrier! Or sinking Hydra's artificial island! Or even an ESP battle between Mentallo and the SHIELD ESPers.

Uhhh...why? Because he's "black" and "cool?" There have gotta be better fits.

There's only ONE man to play LUKE CAGE!

    by black caeser

And that's Michael Jai White. Perhaps one of the most under-utilized bad-asses in Hollywood. He's already built like a superhero he's got mad fighting skills plus he can act.

    by quintus_arrius

Sam is the 'man', but he needs to do something different other than just 'coolness' roles (which he does with much aplomb, I might add) to enhance his credibility of an all round actor.

"I've spent years dreaming of a supercool Steranko period Nick Fury played by Kurt Russell and directed by John Carpenter"... Harry, it's lines like this that make us know that you really just have short sighted cinematic vision. because in the sentence before you claim that Jackson doesn't need to be named Nick Fury, but then you basically describe Snake Plisken starring the Snake Plisken team. HAVE SOME VISION for cryin' out loud Harry. see a little beyond will ya? I'm sorry, cause for the most part you're okay, even when you don't get it. but come on, man. see what you're sayin'...
