Why is it so difficult for people to see what a horrible and horribly unfunny movie Shrek truly is? Fart humor? An abundance. Saying what matters is on the inside while unforgivably mocking short people? There's a lesson for ya. And if you're ugly, just make sure the person you marry is as equally ugly as you are. Let's encapsulate these fantastic morals in an rollicking adventure movie that bases its entertainment on walking, pop culture references years past their prime, walking, very little adventure, and the two bastions of comedy: Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers. TRULY! TRULY A CLASSIC!

I cannot wait to here Antonio's voice coming out of this cat. This is gonna be hilarious.

Compare Shrek to anything put out by Pixar. Which one comes out on top as a better movie? Hell, even Bug's Life is better.
Oct. 23, 2003, 11:41 p.m. CST
I bet Shrek 2 will be just OK, but Shrek was much better than Bug's Life, Monsters Inc, and Finding Nemo. The two Toy Story films tower above all CGI films, but Shrek was very fun and well done. Sure it didn't hold up nearly as well during repeated viewings, but it was a great movie and the Academy did the right thing by awarding it the Oscar. I love good CGI though and the pussy looks delicious.

Anakin Kills Dooku in the first 15 minutes of the film, Anakin force chokes Padme to the point that she dies after giving birth to the twins, Palpatine kills Mace Windu, and then sends the clones to kill all the jedi. Yoda saves the day by getting all the wookies to help him...no more Star Wars movies ever!

Oh yeah, and that picture is very nice. Cool character design. Isn't Puss 'n' Boots supposed to try and steal the dragon away from Donkey?!?

This is a character for a major motion picture? It looks like the new mascot for Fancy Feast. Shrek 1 had the most boring charcter design you could imagine. It looks like they're going for consistency for the sequel design. Did someone say Antonio Banderas is the voice for this? Shouldn't this Puss be French? Marquis de Carrabas and whatnot. FLCL had a better Puss n' Boots and they didn't even get a talkback. I can only hope Shrek 2 doesn't have any more godawful Smashmouth songs.

Took me right out of the movie and ruined what was left for me. The only thing I laught outloud at was the smackdown's on Disney. Other than that, I don't need to ever see that movie again and to hell with the sequel.

I want chicken, I want liver, meow mix, meow mix, please de-liv-er. Look, seriously guys, Paul Reubens needs work. If there is anyway we can get him as a voice actor in this movie, then that would be great. I think his character could be called something like, "Spankitty McWackerchud" or something less obvious. And more cow bell dammit!

When I get asked why I didn't love SHREK the way I loved all Pixar's movie, my response is always that Dreamworks CGI work, while technically impressive, is always too "inside", too Hollywood. I mean, half the humor of Antz comes from the fact that Woody Allen is a neurotic ant. And Sharon Stone is a seductive ant. But they're riffing on their Hollywood personas. It just feels too calculated to me, whereas Pixar always maintains an innocence and love of storytelling. Whereas Dreamworks goes for the gag, Pixar always stays with the characters and story. Dreamworks would never have had the balls to put in the scene of the Cowgirl in Toy Story 2 being abandoned by her owner. Never. They would've gone for a punchline that made reference to another movie.
Oct. 24, 2003, 4:03 a.m. CST
And I like Pixar films. Yes, it is possible to enjoy them both. And for the record, I found Shrek more fun than the excellent Monsters Inc. and more deserving of the oscar. Maybe it was because it was written with a more european flavour. Some of the critsism leveled here at Shrek can be applied to Monsters Inc. just as easily, but they were both good. I'm looking forward to Shrek2 part1 AND part2 (I'm guessing all future films are going to go the way of Kill Bill).
Oct. 24, 2003, 4:11 a.m. CST
The Paul Reubens suggestion is also good. Maybe he can be a pimp... no, seriously. They can't come out and say he's a pimp, but what if a really sketchy looking Rumplestilskin (close?) comes into the film, with, like, two hot blondes with big tits, who "spin gold" for him... I think that's a winner. Anybody got Mike Meyer's e-mail?

It was hugely popular, it wasn't Pixar, it must suck. Could you people be any more predictable? Everything is an occasion to choose sides around here. You know what? I love Pixar films, and it doesn't stop me from loving other CGI films. I don't know why you all love the concept of monopoly so much. There's more than one game in town. Shrek was hilarious, and I'm looking forward to the next one, and will also be seeing the Incredibles on opening weekend. I also like both Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. And my head doesn't explode from the effort. Fancy that.

Sure, MI steers clear of topical references, but PDI ('cause let's be honest, these aren't really DW movies) is capable of some funny material. There are parts of Shrek I'm not wild about, but there are some twisted bits that just made me laugh. Hard. I'm particularly fond of the muffin man torture sequence, the fried eggs and the frog/snake balloons. Ad although some character designs are odd, PDI does some incredible animation. I'll probably get lynched for this, but PDI seems way ahead of Pixar when it comes to CGI humans (and the tiny bits of Incredibles has only reinforced that idea).
Oct. 24, 2003, 10:47 a.m. CST
I mean, doesn't it bother people when they create these cartoons and add only SOME clothes to them? This cat looks like some depraved pervert - boots, hat - no pants. It's all so strange. And not the least bit helped by the fact that these animations are getting more and more realistic. I don't think I'm serious about this.

There are more then two CGI houses in the world. DNA did a CGI movie in less then a year and a half, with off the shelf software, that was nominated for the same oscar as Monsters Inc. and Shrek were. Here is the break down... Monsters Inc was beautiful to watch and was some incredible story telling. Shrek was fun to watch ONCE, full fart jokes and pop culture references, however it was lacking in much detail, look at any secondary characters, you can tell they pushed it through production. Jimmy Neuron was a fun film to watch with your kids, it had heart and some great art direction, check out the alien world. I enjoyed all these films, but given the chose, pixar stuff has a lot more going for it. Throw these films against a wall to in 30 years and see which one sticks.

I Love You Pussy! Because doggy style, froggy style, missionary...whatever, you make me smile. I Love You Pussy! Hand job, blow job...you have no competition. I Love You Pussy! Getting to know you better is my mission. I Love You Pussy! And if my cock pampers another one, don't get jealous and surprised I Love You Pussy! Because after all, my cock is blind and with only one eye. I Really Love Pussy!

However, this IS a talkback.. how else will people with invaluable information speak out? (Hence the sarcasm) I laugh at the debates sparked on this website but I think they do go too far (prime example: Matrix Revolutions Disater talkbalk). Tone down the nonsense a bit will ya guys?
