CAPTAIN AMERICA can be made at last!
Hey folks, Harry here... now, all we need is to be told that it's all about WW2, Nazis, Red Skull and Baron Zemo, with Bucky dying and I'll be all abot this!
Harry,
First time ever writing. You do great things for geeks everywhere who refuse to grow up.
Just wanted to let you know that Marvel Enterprises has just, at long last, settled the lawsuit that has been holding up the "Captain America" property from achieving any forward movement. Joe Simon, the original author of the "other, other white meat" in red n' blue tights, has settled with Marvel for an undisclosed sum. Marvel has announced plans to begin motion on the feature and a series immediately.
Just an FYI...keep up the good work.

We finally have the chance to get a GREAT Cappy movie. That's all that matters.
-
I'm all for Cap in his glory days, fighting the good fight with the Red Skull...as long as he doesn't end up getting the Daredevil treatment. Great story...wince-inducing script (and acting)
-
One of the things that Avi Arad said that I actually admire him for was that Captain America was the one superhero they were determined to get right on every conceivable level. So unless somebody just happens to sit down and bang out this mind-blowing script, don't count on seeing a 'Captain America' movie for quite some time. They've got other properties to do a half-assed job adapting first.
-
It's almost impossible to get excited about Super Hero movies anymore.
Sure Spiderman 2 will be good, but Namor, Iron Man, Capt America (can't wait to see how this title goes over in Europe and the middle east) and all the rest are just to forced.
When Captain First, a real super hero, found out The Human Torch would become the Human whose hands only shot fire to save on CGI, I realized what a sad time this is. -
...and though it'd be easy to say that it was largely because it's PG-13, and thus kiddified, X-Men was too, and it kicked much ass (Hulk was also PG-13, and decent in my opinion, though other people didn't seem to think so). The script had most of the basic elements there too (his back story, father, Foggy, Kingpin, Elecktra, Bullseye), which leads me to believe maybe it was just the direction that was too "soft." Like the storyboards & set design weren't inventive enough, nor the acting (well, we are talkin' Affleck, not to mention their pimpified Kingpin), nor the cinematography and lighting, nor the choreography. I mean, the Frank Miller comics kick SO MUCH ASS, the source material is certainly there, but then a forgotten 3rd-rate character like "Blade" gets a movie made of him and it RULES. Long story short, I don't want this to be another fuckin' "Daredevil" (i.e., just a run-of-the-mill comic book movie), and as much as I hate to say it, I'm not terribly optimistic that the source material is there to make for a really cool movie. I may love what Captain America stands for, but face it, he's not exactly tortured, he has no claws or attitude or special Batmanesque weapons, he doesn't fly or leap through skylights into rooms full of baddies without fear. And all that aside, are people NOT jaded enough, do people still believe in America enough to really get behind this character, and this movie? And for that matter, how will the film do overseas? Are the other countries gonna lap up our propaganda? Or they gonna have digitally redo and rename the costume and hero for each country (i.e., Captain China, Captain Afghanistan, The Fighting Turk, etc??). Scary thought...
-
If they make this a period piece, it could work like gangbusters. I feel that after WW2, Captain America comes across as a bit of a dinosaur. Quixotic patriotism in the new millennium is, at best, quaint, and at worst, extremely dangerous. I want to see some hardcore Nazi-busting, like Indiana Jones, but with a blue hood with little wings on it. That's manly.
-
If you wanted to give Captain America some gravity, and tone down the "America Is The Absolute Best!" vibe, you could have the OSS push Steve Rogers into black-ops-type situations, expecting him to kill indiscriminately. Maybe they could order him to do something that conflicts with his own sense of morality and patriotism, which pushes him to find other, better solutions for stopping the Red Skull and the Axis. Anything that might play up the government-owned super-soldier aspect. At some point, you could even have both the Nazis AND the OSS hunting for him - the Nazis taking an interest in this enemy Aryan super-soldier who's suddenly tripping them up, and shady members of the OSS looking for their ultimate weapon, who isn't behaving the way he's supposed to. I don't know. But, I believe it IS possible to give the character some weight and cut down on the inherent jingoism.
-
Captain America is a faggot ass character. He never was cool. Captain America is the asshole who loved wearing tights and loved leading his group in suicide missions every week. Also, all the pro-america bullshit made me sick. Captain America was so queer that Marvel couldnt contain it any longer in one character. This explains how Captain Britain was created.
-
I recently saw the Cap movie that came out in the 80's. You will never get ANYONE to beleive that a guy in a bright suit armed with only his fists and a shield will work on a battlefield. Get Real! Geeks will go for it but it will be abominably stupid.
-
I couldn't care less about this movie if I tried really, really, REALLY hard, but I love the dude who sent in the news, cuz, Frank the Bunny! Yay! I got the Donnie Darko book in the mail today and it rooocks. Just like the movie.

And Harry, First off, ignore the bozo's ranting on like the village idiots (you know who you are so bugger off already). and Brody, well pal, if you are so tired of all this Pro-America BS, leave. Now. Either you have never been outside your home town for longer than a day, or you are just out for ranting and raving to see who bites.
Now, back to the subject of the Captain; this could work, if, as memtioned above, they go for the period piece (i.e. WWII). If they can just get over the 'We want a blockbuster movie' concept and make this movie as Captain America was intended (ala Jack 'King' Kirby) this would kick ass. Daredevil had too many problems, starting with Ben Affleck. Spiderman worked, because they kept the story to pretty much its roots (look guys, the web shooter thing...give it a rest, huh). Batman - Dead End ROCKED. This was the closest thing to the Dark Knight ever, but with the unknown actors, as good as they were, wouldn't make it because the studios want 'stars'. Forget the "Bankable" names, and get actors who act, give the movie the support it needs, and people will flock to the theatres because, if nothing else, there's nothing like a good war movie. I'll get off the soapbox now. Keep on Rockin'! -

CAPTAIN AMERICA could be an awesome flick if handled decently...
by spyguy
If the filmmakers focus on the "soldier from the past" aspect of the character and show Cap as a noble, patriotic American from the 1940s suddenly forced to accept 21st century America, this film could have some serious depth to it beyond Cap kicking ass and taking names. A lot of underlying social commentary could be made about how America has lost its way since the 1940s, becoming overly cynical and angry in the process. As shown in Marvel's HEROES one-shot comic, Cap can become a powerful symbol of hope for the future if taken seriously enough. Anyone who writes Cap off as a simple propoganda tool officially has his head up his ass.

While you were pitching "Ghost Town"- (a comedy?), this news dropped months ago.
Revolutions...idiots everywhere realizing there actually are sequels to that 1999 film with the chick in the black leather outfit on November 5th! -
Why is it that Captain America gets greenlighted while Marvel sits on properties like "Damage Control?" Jeez, Damage Control could be the Ghostbusters of the 21st Century. Hire Landis and crank that puppy out, baby!
-
that would be cool, but he'd never go for it...and if he did, we'd get brad pitt or tom cruise as steve rogers...this has to be done right...no ben affleck...set in WWII....tone down the colors on the outfit...like spidey...if wb isn't gonan make him supes, then how about tom welling for capt...just color his hair...

im sure this movie CAN kick ass if they set it in WWII with captain america kicking some serious NAZI ass, There has not been enough NAZI ass kicking.
it doesn't ALL have to take place in WWII tho, Maybe we can have the first 30 minutes of his origin, his love for america, and his enemy the red skull.
Then in the second half he can deal with Modern Day NAZIs, those fucken skin heads who live in the middle of america, And then finally, have captain america fight against a nazi uprising civil war in the middle of america with an ending of him planting the american flag right on soil of 9/11 and take on terrorism in the next movie.
THATS what captain america is all about. not hokey super hero fighting, but about fighting for our rights, and freedom, his own way , The constitutional way, NOT bush way,
-
I agree with Nosferatu. Spielberg would be a really good choice to direct this. He hasn't done a superhero movie yet and you would think he'd really want to. Better hurry, Steven. All the good ones are being taken. I hadn't even thought of the WWII connection with all those other movies he's directed. And Mosquito March has some good ideas for the story. Cheers, guys! And to the rest of you, slamming Cap, the concept, etc, give it a rest. This "too cool for the room" attitude that some of you have is really sad. "We hate everything! Everything sucks! Everything's gay!" Are you guys movie fans or not? How about having an open mind every once in a while, and waiting until you actually see some film footage?
-
In the awful 1991 version, it just didn't work. Granted, if you got a decent writer they might have done a better job, but I think Cap deserves a whole movie set in his glory days. I think you should have the 1st movie him alone, fighting the good fight and becoming the epitome of the US fighting force in WWII. The 2nd movie should have a bit more cynicism, about how he's used as propaganda by the US government, he becomes a posterboy, they stick him with Bucky and all that disasterously blows up in their faces, and ends with him frozen just before or after the end of WWII. The 3rd film should then be him in the present, the fish out of water movie about how the country has changed and how he deals with it, and I'm not saying he has to deal with it well or that he necessarily becomes the great hero he was in the past, either. I do like some of the other takes people have brought up, and I think a good movie(s) could be made if the proper writers were on it.

This is already 2 to 3 weeks old news!!! It was reported on all the other movie sites a while ago. What's going on with AICN? They don't seem to get any exclusives anymore and what they do report is only what everyone else is reporting or worse ... long after the fact. Add to that all the stalling or long loading time the articles ...

Good god, can you please find another outlet to spout anti-US or anti-Bush propaganda??!?!
Don't like the pro-US stance? Don't support it, march against it, go hug a hippie, but damn guys...this is a comic book movie! A movie that many would dearly love to see done well! Don't shiat all over someone elses parade because your personal feelings (note I didn't say reasoning) conflict with it. Don't like it? Don't support it? Don't watch it then, let those of us who'd like to do so do it without your mindless drivel. -

Vegas, you're absolutely right. Neal is the ideal choice to play Cap. He's no name actor, so studios would be hesitant...but like someone mentioned with Spielberg directing (who did do Minority Report) could back up that choice. Excellent pick Vegas.

I was just trying to think of ways to keep this thing from being the caricature that it could be. Like everybody here, there are certain movies I saw as a kid had kind of a profound impact on me, and one of them was that old Mel Gibson/Sam Neill/John Phillip Law movie ATTACK FORCE Z, about a group of mostly Australian Allied commandos who have to find a Japanese plane that's crashed on an island in the Pacific. There was a scene early on where one of the good guys gets his kneecap shot off and can't walk any further. Rather than let the Japanese soldiers on the island catch the guy and make him talk, they wait until the guy isn't looking and kill him. That really messed with me - the idea that the good guys would be instructed to kill another good guy if there was even the slightest chance that he'd fall into enemy hands while on a sensitive mission. And, the worst thing was that they had to kill any natives who saw them and knew what they were looking for. Imagine somebody like Captain America forced into a situation like THAT.

The Version of Captain america will be the Ultimate Version. The version of the Punisher is the harder Marvel Knights. Spider-man is based on the Bendis Ultimate version. Fantastic Four will be based on the Ultimate FF. Does anyone else se a trend? Jemas admitted that the screenplay of Spidey was based on Bendis' version. If There's an Ultimates comic version of any Superhero , that will be the version to make it to the big screen. Just check out the accident that creates Doctor Octopus in the Ultimate Spiderman and then compare it to the way they are doing it in Spiderman 2.

They should shitcan this project now and do a Shazam movie instead. Fuck Captain America that fascist, sloganeering, flag-waving yahoo. I hope Captain France makes Captain America his bitch in this movie. That would SO rock.

What's WRONG with a pro-American, pro-flag waving movie, you men
by commando cody
Sorry, but there's nothing wrong with a pro-American, flag waving movie to me. In fact, I love a good "rah-rah" movie where you have a REAL hero to root for. Given the right director and writer, this movie could rock and be a lot of fun. So what's the big deal? Not interested in seeing it...fine, like any other movie that doesn't ring your bell, don't plunk down your 8 bucks when it comes out. On the flip side, I really don't see the point of doing this movie and NOT making it PRO-America since it is fucking called CAPTAIN AMERICA! Not to mention OF COURSE it's going to be a bit "flag waving" since a love of country and love of the flag -- the AMERICAN flag -- is obviously at the core of his great costume. You anti-American flag losers can get on your knees and kiss my ass right now. Oh yeah, as for the naysayers who say making it a period piece wouldn't work...yeah, you're right...after all, a fun summer action movie where the hero fights Nazis circa WWII was SUCH a disaster at the box office for Indiana Jones. Yeah, you're right. NOBODY turned out to root him on...
-
Know what would SO rock?
You shuttin' the fuck up. You like France so much? Go fuckin' move there, assface!

I am sorry but does anyone really care about this?... By the time this comes out Indy 4 will be out and I am sure they will try and still use nazi's in that.... Using Nazi's as bad guys in movies is really fucking old and now pointless... Switch it up a bit the nazi thing is getting real old, how about communists? Like Capt. America fights the KGB or some shit... I hope they make this thing interesting and not an Indy rip off
-
i've never liked Capt. America. I mean ever. I remember the last C.A. movie, it sucked. I don't see how this could work as a movie. I mean, a hero called Capt. America in a movie? How could anyone not really into the comics take such an idea seriously? With that said, I think an Avengers movie would be better anyway, because I just don't think Capt. America is a strong enough character to carry a decent movie.

But I find him kinda, well, gay now. I mean, a guy in sky blue tights, with wings on his head, running around with a shield (metaphor for the closet), and a young boy -- named BUCKY!!! --as a sidekick. At least Bucky had pants on, unlike that other homoerotic sidekick over at DC. If they're gonna do a contempo version, they should have him thawed out and spend lots of screentime getting used to today, a la Austin Powers.
-
You don't think we've had enough of Communists over the last 40 years? What about all those spy thrillers that have choked the cinemas of the world, from James Bond to Jack Ryan? Hell - now that the Communists are gone, everything is about the Russian Mafia, which is made up of ex-Communist KGB agents. You can't even turn on THE SOPRANOS without seeing those guys. And, I guess you're one of the only people on Earth who hasn't read that Indy IS up against Communists in the new one, which is set in the 1950s. That's one of the only official pieces of information that Frank Darabont has been allowed to spill. And, it's the only case of Communist overexposure that I'll gladly get behind. Same with Cap and the Nazis. And, I highly doubt that a new CAPTAIN AMERICA movie will be just like the 1990 version, which had no budget and no decent actors, apart from Ned Beatty. Whether they come up with a decent script remains to be seen, but, if only by virtue of the newer, more powerful Marvel movie-making machine, it's way ahead of the version you saw 13 years ago. Just like FANTASTIC FOUR. Even with a mediocore script, there is no way that it could be as surreally awful as the unreleased version from the early '90s. All that said, if they pull a DAREDEVIL, I'll be one of the first people in line with a torch and a picthfork in front of Avi Arad's mansion. They just need to cast the right actors and find the right director. And, they're not even in that stage yet. I'm not ashamed to say I'm looking forward to a CAPTAIN AMERICA movie. And, I'm not even a fan of the comics. The only CAPTAIN AMERICA comics I ever bought were the issues that Mike Zeck penciled. But, there is something mythic about the character, and with a good creative team, they might be able to make something that might appeal to those of us who like both comic book movies and war movies, and who believe that George Lucas is a bastard for killing Indiana Jones 15 years ago (I don't count the dreadful YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES). I say, bring on the period adventure set against the backdrop of war, and if it includes Nazis as villains, so much the better. The Nazis sucked.
-
Am I the only one who liked the Matt Salinger version? Sure, it was low-budget, and corny in ways, but the movie left me with a more realistic feeling than the ultra-effects laden wave of Superhero movies coming out now. I enjoyed the X-Men, Daredevil, and Spidey (but never saw the Hulk because the trailer with the CGI Hulk made me miss Lou Ferrigno terribly.....CGI is still too cartoonish, and I mean that in a bad way). But the movies still looked way too "Hollywood."
I'd really like to see some superhero movies that concentrated on the script more instead of putting special effects first, and weren't just an ad for the endless merchandising tie-ins. So while it may not be perfect, I still think the Matt Salinger version had a lot of heart, and the songs by Southside Johnny were absolutely perfect!
As for the new version, maybe Cappie could fight an evil yet moronic oil baron who steals the Presidency by having his powerful and ruthless father rig the election for him, thereby turning America into a dictatorship where American citizens are having their constitutional rights taken away by some phony "Patriot Act."
Hey, it could happen........'nuff said! -

by zerocorpse
I'm kidding. No version of Cap has ever been good on film. I hope they can make this work...
-
Think about it. The only defense of why this movie should be made is to emphasize the patriotism and pride of American citizens in the wake of the past several difficult years. But, as another posted stated, other than in World War II, why would people be interested in Captain America? Would the movie be set in the Capraesque area? My casting pick for a new Cap movie would be Paul Walker, for three reasons: 1) Up and coming actor and recognized face, but not a HUGE star, 2) He's not too old and 3) He's blond. That's it. He just has to pull a Tobey Maguire and get semi-jacked. In close, what if the movie were to fail? Does Marvel need a hit? Granted Cap is one of the most recognizeable and predominant characters in the Marvel Universe, I dunno if it would work. It's too 1940s, and I don't mean that like its bad, I just think that you can't apply the concept of a young strength enduced man to 2004. Of course I can be wrong, this is just one opinion. The bottom line is, even if its made, I'll still go to the theatres to see this. -

Batman: Dead End? Worst thing I've ever seen. EVER. And can someone please explain to me how this is even remotely "true" to Batman, whatever the hell that means? There is no Batman in it AT ALL! He's fighting a PREDATOR for cripes' sake! How could that possibly be "true to Batman?" Am I missing something here? It might as well have been a space marine walking down that alley--it sure as hell would've made a lot more sense. As it stands, it's just an incredibly ridiculous fanboy ejaculation that has no creativity nor fills any void that was eating away at me. And I LOVE Batman.
-
...you are the only being in the solar system who liked the Albert Pyun Captain America. Vegas, good call on McDonough -- he'd be a great Cap. He's the perfect age too, but I fear the powers that be will try to go for someone younger. As for those of you who feel a WWII Cap movie would be lame and out of date -- why can't a pertinent message for the America of today be communicated in a story taking place in the 40's? Ever hear of metaphors? Or drawing parallels? Or being able to chew gum and walk at the same time? Stop being such feeble mouth-breathers. On a final note, who cares what the rest of the world thinks about a Captain America movie? It's very much a domestic property and can't be tailored to any other audience than an inherently American one. If other people like it, fine. Bottom line is Hollywood has no obligation to make a Cap movie for an international crowd. Bring on the flag-waving Nazi-bashing!

A Captain America Movie? Sorry, But Cpatain America Isn't an Int
by the founder
I know a few of you get a hard on Cap, but to me he's never been interesting. He's a good leader of the Avebgers and to me he only works with them. He's a boring stand alone character, and even with all the hype and rich backstory, he just wouldn't make for a good movie. I see no way to make this character interesting on the big screen without major changes, and then he would just be Captain America in name only.
-
Actually, you should have used "you're," as in the contraction of "you are." Now who's the retard? Get a life (and an education.)
-
IMHO Cap's best days were with the Avengers. He does not shoot energy bolts out of his eyeballs or fly or anything like that. It leaves him unencumbered by all of the mechanics of superherodom and able to concentrate on just kicking the asses of regular bad guys. He is Leadership personified. Who wouldn't want to charge a machine gun nest with a guy in blue tights armed with only a shield and huge testicles. Give him Arrow Guy and Really Fast Guy and Incredibly Small Guy and That Witch Girl and matbe someone who flys. Start it back in WWII and have him frozen in an iceberg or something like that. Kick Ass Cap!
-
So I guess the huge success of Private Ryan and Band of Brothers is just a fluke? Well made movies set in any era can be a sucess. Right now a buncha fanboys are pulling puds over how authentic the Breastplate on Colin Ferrels Alexander the Great, is or isn't.
I see cap as the Ultimates Cap in the origin done by Speilberg and Hanks ala Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan. No over the top costume, no over the top powers jut a better faster quicker Human Being Fighting for a cause he believes in. For the cynical and outright Anti- Americans the next movie could be the newly thawed cap Fighting Hippies and Vietnam era Commies. -
I don't know who mentioned that the producers of the supposed fantastic four film are throwing in the FX towel and deciding that the human torch will only be able to flame up his hands. I presume this has sparked a fiery outrage, but in case it hasn't, it should at least kindle some warnings. okay, no more flaming puns. point is it's just a terribly bad idea. there have been plenty of characters in movies and i am sure in comics who have been able to make fire with their hands. to take a character that has gone way beyond that, both in power and visually, and reduce it to something which has been done countless times (not to mention concurrently with the x-men series) is to ignore the value of a character which has existed for more than forty years (and his predecessor, who had the same abilities, going back -- what -- sixty or sixty five years? Of course it's a CGI challenge. That's why you get really good FX guys to lick t. Instead of hiring limpwads who throw up their hands and say, "you know, when you think about it, having the whole body flame up really isn't logical, anyway. Why don't his clothes burn, too?" Yeah, like that's the real reason you're doing this. You're just not up to the task. If you really are concerned about logic, then have the stretching guy only stretch his hands (after all, why don't his clothes stretch, too?) or th invisible girl (why don't her clothes turn invisible?). Come to think of it, the approach is so logical it should be applied whenever it solves a production challenge. Got an actor who doesn't want his face covered by an mask. Fine. from now on he's Iron Hand. Sub-mariner? Gee, that underwater photography really costs a lot. How about he only goes in up to his waist? Yeah, now we're making movies...
-
Wanted to wait a few days for the fucktards to get the gibberish out of their systems and calm down a little. As a longtime comics fan, I would love to see this movie be made right (they should go with an edited "Ultimate" origin, seein' as how none of the Avengers have appeared in film form yet, and am I the only person who thinks Cap would work in the present-day?) and be phenomenally successful. Cap's not even my favorite character, but I recognize what an important character he is. Maybe studios should cut back on the superhero adaptations, but guess what? It ain't gonna happen! Right now they know they're sittin' on a goldmine. And as long as they can put out something with a built-in audience, but with today's production values to draw in anyone else, ya might as well get used to it. Their gonna ride this horse till it bucks 'em off. Yeah, these movies have inherent problems. But it just takes a director who knows what works on the printed page and can make that a reality. It could play well for more than just "geeks". I can't believe some of studs that post here are so willing to dismiss it as silly and antiquated, when it hasn't even went into development yet! C'mon kids, don't be pissy. With that line of thinking I'm pretty sure most of the movies you enjoy would have never been made. Clearly, some of you have issues that go beyond not wanting to see a movie about an overtly patriotic character. In other words, if you had an inkling of what you were talking about, you would know Cap is about more than just some guy with a shield who loves his country. Please. Hope you enjoyed whatever pathetic rush you got from talking trash. And mosquito march, let me just say, I am very impressed with your ideas. Yer good people.
-
Despite being Canadian, I would still love to see Jack Kirby's (arguably) greatest comic book character brought to the big screen! I agree with many of the other posters that feel the (initial) film should be set entirely during WWII - albeit a highly stylized and idealized version of that era (along the lines of the Rocketeer and the Indian Jones movies). There are certainly no shortage of colourful villians to choose from including the Red Skull (the obvious first choice), Baron Zemo, Baron Blood, Master Man, and Adolph Hitler himself. If the film were to open somewhat like Richard Donner's "Superman" (a child reading a comic book), and emphasise the fact that we are dealing with a comic book character, then I think the general public worldwide would have no trouble accepting the pro-american slant of the film. In fact, Europe has always had a love affair with the western genre - so what could be more American than that?
-
That's really a great idea for the Cap film. I've always loved that Superman intro. I'm also with you on the "highly stylized" Jack Kirby WWII motif. They shouldn't make an Avengers movie in my opinion though. Xmen works because most of them only have the Xmen gig to begin with. The Avengers consist mostly of heroes with long past histories. It would be much too unwieldly to fit into one film. However, if they insist on having Cap the leader of a team -- why not make an Invaders movie? Kill two birds with one stone -- Cap leading a superhero team, smashing nazis during WWII. It's money. You know you want it.

When I was handed the reins (chains) to bring Capt America to the screen back in '90, I knew right off it was going to be arduous...first, the film began too early because of "legal considerations" and began with no money in the bank...second, because of the contentiousness between the prod co. and marvel, there was really very little that could be done to make that picture work. I met with Stan to see if there was flexibility, but he was not in a position to help get much needed changes approved by Marvel. Basically Marvel created a situation ensuring the project was doomed...even though Stan was a real supporter, just no clout...there's a long dark story behind this production...sorry it didn't turn out better.

By the way, Captain America was also the direct result of the cancellation of my production of "Spiderman" and "Masters of the Unverse 2" in 1989. Sets were built for both and we were two weeks away from shooting in North Carolina when we hit the first of many legal snags. Masters morphed into "Cyborg" with Van Damme within the two weeks and was shot for less than a million to cover the costs of the cancelation. Chuck Norris was the original actor pegged to star in Cyborg. Anyway...like I said, a long dark tale...
