EXORCIST DVD!!!
Chief Jawa here wrote up a WHOLE lot more on the EXORCIST DVD, but hopefully we'll be seeing it
on the big screens first. However, this is DVD news so here it is.... Death to DIVX, the real reason to fling holy water... Fox... the power of geeks compells you, the power of geeks compells you...
Chief Jawa here. Got some more info on the
Exorcist anniversary re-release for you.
I did actually post this on the forum the second day they returned to
our PC screen, but obviously no one cared. :-(
Now, the film, ah yes. Banned from the home video market in the UK it
is, erk, I'm talking like a Jedi master here. Apologies.
The only way to see The Exorcist here in the UK is on the BIG screen.
Maybe that's a good thing, in fact no, it is a good thing, but it'd
still be laugh to get a copy on video, turn out the lights, play the
movie, stuff you face with mushy peas half way through, switch on the
lights and hurl it out all over your friends, but it's just not to be.
Erm, most people do those things when the watch it, right?
Despite it being banned from video (that includes televised viewings)
the BBC has put togheter a special anniversary programme that deleves
into all aspects of the film. Presented my film fella' Mark Kermode the
hour long special is due to be shown at the end of May here in Blighty
and it'll feature interviews with key cast and crew members.
Of course, that's only the iceing on the cake. See, the documentary will
feature a little over 12 minutes of deleted footage from the film,
including that tarantula sequence. American fans need fear not, the
programme may be shown on TV over there sometime in october/November,
but, an extended version fo the whole thing will be included on the
laserdisc, DVD and VHS remastered edition.
Mark Kermode commented on the films resoration: "It has been digitally
enhanced (CGI?), given a lovely Stereo mix, colour corrected. it's been
fabulously done! It's going to been seen as it was meant to be seen".
I thinks that as well as the Stereo sound mix the Laserisc and DVD
editions will also include a Dolby Digital one.
Now, there is no word if the deleted scenes will be put back into the
actuall film but rumours sugest that they will, don't quote me on that
though, K?
Warner are also thinking of a theatrical re-release of the film however
news on this appears to have died down a little bit. Shame. On a
personal note, I think Warner should audition it to the BBFC (British
board of Film Classification) and ask them to review it and give it
another chance. Who knows....
You can betcha ass I'll be importing the DVD of this from the States
though. F**k it if it's against the law, no one stops me watchin'
movies! I shall stop here before I go into how much I hate the BBFC.
That's it, hope it was all interesting reading to y'all, now, I've got
an evil flu, so excuse me while I snuggle up under a blanket and prepare
for a viewing of Tomorrow Never Dies DVD. :-) Keep well...
My birthday on thursday, off to see a preview of Deep Impact. Bad move?
