Police Academy 8 is in the works...
Hey folks, Harry here and your dreams and most heart-felt wishes have come true... yes, I know it is hard to believe, but POLICE ACADEMY 8 is in the works. Let's hope in this one, they graduate the Academy in the first 10 minutes, prior to the opening credits... then they end up being placed on a Police Force with Kurt Russell and Russell Crowe as a pair of Evil Bad Cops that love setting up idiot new recruits in body bags to help up The Police Retirement Fund. Yeah. Yeah, that's it!
Our local Atlanta radio station, 96.1, has a morning show called "The Regular Guys." They were hanging out with Michael Winslow, who did all the *ahem* 'funny' voices in the Police Academy movies.
The DJ's asked him if there were going to be any more Police Academy movies, and he said they were in negotiations for Police Academy 8. At first, the DJ's (and I) thought he was joking. But nope. He was serious.
Just thought you would get a kick out of that tidbit. :)

You know that you have a shitty franchise when the least of the Three Men from Three Men and a... Saga abandons it just a few movies in.

Fuck, was there a 7? I must get to the local video store and buy it now. Does he make funny sounds in 7 too? Is there a movie with just him making noises, you know, him, the funny one who makes noises. With the success of FvJ, I'd like to see Police Academy vs The Wizard Of Oz. It would be funny, with lots of funny sounds.

Say what you will about the overall series - and you'd probably be right - but Michael Winslow IS funny and talented; his act is very unique and as far as I've seen has never been duplicated. In fact, any comic who tried to do something even remotely similar would just suffer endless comparisons to Winslow, which I think serves as testimony to what he's created. And no, I'M not kidding.

GREETINGS PROGRAMS! Now I used to like the Police Acadamy Films but since 4 the series has been a rehash of old jokes and tired caracters. But I'll Still give number 8 a look, Whan it comes on Satelite TV. END OF LINE!
Sept. 11, 2003, 9:30 a.m. CST
I think 7 might have been called 'mission to moscow', and I haven't seen it, but I think it probably sucks. Although I have seen 'City Under Siege' about 12 times. The ridiculous showdowns at the end just make me laugh, for some reason. 'Have a nice day' in bulletholes. Genius. And my personal favourite 'Oh my god, you're a robot!' - who falls for that shit? Jesus...

Bad boy! How will you ever have an unbiased review of this new Police Academy movie if you go in imagining your own ideas about what the movie SHOULD be before you've actually seen it?! Oh, you're ruining the process of watching movies, you orange bastard!

all u a'holes start dissing old flicks that might not be as fun today as they were when u first caught them. Come on, I remember being a kid and watching the first 4-5 PA movies on tv and that shit had me laughing like mad. Sure some of it really looks dumb now but so do the original Star Wars sequels you geeks. I'd suggest rehashing everything about the series and starting it fresh with a new bunch of recruits and perhaps having cameos or shorter roles from some members of the original cast. A good crew is all this flick needs. It could as funny as you ranting lunatics praised "old school" for being. Just hope they handle it well.

The above Bobcat Goldthwait quote is the funniest thing ever associated with this wretched franchise (aside from that great Simpsons gag someone above me posted). Sure, I laughed when I was 12, but I also used to think that episode of Get Smart with the man-eating plant was absolutely terrifying...

This is his stand up special accompanied by the behind the scenes documentary about it. This is, without question, the single WORST stand up comedy special EVER! If anyone gets the chance to see this thing, do it! It's like watching a slow-motion train wreck.

How can this movie even be in the talking stage?!? Did I somehow miss the mobs of people clamoring for more Police Academy movies??? Note to the studios: It's not a sin to only put out decent movies. You don't have to produce every franchise script that splats onto your desks.

I couldn't be more pleased. What orgiastically good news. Hopefully, what's-his-face Guttenberg will be in it, reprising his role as Seargent Whatever-his-name-is. And bring back that old fart from Tootsie to play Captain Horse's-ass-or-whatever. Pure magic.

my love of movies began with the "Police Academy" series. Most call out titles like "Stars Wars" or Indiana Jones", not me. As my affair with The Transformers came to a close, Police Academy was sprung upon me. That goofy bunch won me over within minutes and then for years to come. No, I don't think ALL the films are good but I enjoy them for the most part. I have no shame in saying it, these movies started my love for cinema. WEIRD, I know.
Sept. 12, 2003, 1:31 a.m. CST
Another Police Academy movie? Does Viacom need a tax writeoff that badly? The first couple were funny, but you could hear crickets during showings of parts 3-7.

Now I can die a happy, young virgin geek just like you. Who needs a woman when you've got Bubba Smith & Steve Guttenberg in..."Police Academy 8: Back in Training As Citizens On Patrol in Moscow On Assignment -- The Final Chapter".
Sept. 12, 2003, 6:13 a.m. CST
C'mon. Just checked the IMDB, Stevie has not been in a Police Academy movie, since PA4: Citizens On Patrol. Which (at least to me) was the last funny movie in the series. The first few were funny. But drop Stevie and gdd all the 'Direct to Video' accountriments and you get crap--- granted the fall was not that high. AND most importantly, R.I.P. John Ritter- the man who single-handedly revive physical comedy.

High concept cross-over idea for the WB TV "brains": Get as many 'Police Academy' veterans as possible to be in a new series with the bunch from "Super Troopers" AND the bunch from "Reno 911". There would be at least 45 solid seconds of laughter in that project.
