The Orange County Register to print The Daily Bugle for SPIDER-MAN 2!
Hey folks, Harry here -- Not terribly exciting news here, but interesting for those that would like to know whose presses press the Daily Bugle. Most likely a very brief scene in the film... probably running the "SPIDER-MAN UNMASKED" headline if I were a betting man. Here ya go...

First time sneak, long time geek. I work for a newspaper in Santa Ana, CA.
called The Orange County Register. It's a pretty popular paper down here
in So Cal. I just received the current issue of our tremendously popular
company newsletter and besides throwing it in the trash like I normally do
I actually looked inside. No clue why I looked inside. Maybe I was bored
but I think it was because that was the only think to look at in the head.
Well anyway to my surprise I saw this little intercompany press release.
It doesn't sound like a major scene in the movie but I couldn't not let you
know. The last time something happened, a scene was filmed here from "The
Ring", I sat on my laurels and didn't write you but this time I thought
what the hell. Use it if you like or don't use it, I don't care. Just
know that you have another spy in the family. Well here you go.... By the
way, call me PaperBoy.Spider-Man2 filming in Grand Avenue printing plant
The Register's Grand Avenue pressroom is making headline - literally - as a
filming site for next year's release of "Spider-Man 2." Columbia Pictures,
the production company making Spider-Man 2,is finalizing a date this month
to shoot scenes of the film's fictitious Daily Bugle newspaper rolling
through the Register's printing press and rolling down a conveyor. The
front-page features a Spider-Man headline and photo.
Filming of the Daily Bugle press run will be scheduled early in the day on
a Monday or Tuesday so it does not interfere with the 6 pm. printing
schedule of the Register's Show, Accent, and OCClassified sections.
Several members of Spider-Man 2's crew - including the director, art
director and location scouts - met with Director of Facilities and Property
Operations Tom Grochow starting in February. They visited the Register on
three separate occasions to investigate the size of the printing facility,
use of equipment, positioning of cameras, and associates' involvement in
operating the presses. A front-page image of the Daily Bugle will also be
converted to match the Register's newsprint specifications.
The film company is renting the facility and will reimburse Freedom Orange
County for all printing costs. Grochow met a Hollywood agent several years
ago who specializes in finding shooting locations for films, television and
commercials. He refers production companies to Grochow whenever scripts
call for a specific type of space or incorporate a newspaper story line.
Peter Parker, the main character in Spider-Man 2, is a photographer for the
Daily Bugle who secretly doubles as Spider-Man. Other newspaper-themed
films shot at the Register include the 2002 horror film "The Ring." The
film starred Naomi Watts as a newspaper reporter investigating a ring of
mysterious deaths. The Content Center, basement and hallways were used
during shooting and the Register recognized in the film's final credits.

Let me guess . . . a shot of the papers rolling across the presses. A front page with a big headline comes spinning out of the center of the screen. A shot of the folded papers moving down a conveyor belt. Another front page comes spinning out at the audience. A delivery truck drives by a newsstand and throws out a stack of papers. Tobey watches a bunch of people reading the papers with an anguished look on his face.

spiderman 1 was a fucking atrocity and completlely changed my opinion of sam raimi. Anybody with half a fucking brain and a sense of why movies are a legitimate art medium should be able to recognize this. As such, why the fuck should people care one goddam bit about 2? I'll fucking tell you why, the studios have won on the publicity bit,. they can get us stupid fanboys ( but don't feel bad, we all have larger cocks than most) to care about whatever the fuck they want us to. not like Daredevil? i guarantee 99.9% of you will at least be "curious on d2. I love Hunter S. Thompson, and I happen to be a Liberal Commie Bastard that wishes the death of the American way of life(or so neo-conservatives keep telling me). I'm not going to go off about Iraq, President Bush, or my lothing for the religious right, or anything so uselessly inflamatory. I thought Sept.11 was going to be the chance we needed to come out of our well polished shells and take a look at the world around us, and attempt to understand what role we had to play in it being in it's current state.
It would be astonishingly ignorant to say that we were all just innocent, peace loving bystanders, that had nothing to do w/ any enduring harshness in the lives of our neighbors. Alas, wouldn't ya know it, that's exactly what we did! We waved flags, attacked other American citizens(Muslim-Americans, Leftists, anyone remotely critical of Bush)and generally acted like the type of assholes that the world has accused us of being.
We let neo-cons form a monopoly around the media and free thought(Fox News, the ridiculously highlevel of conservative talk shows, and the ever grating presence of Ann Coulter & her ilk). In essence we became our enemy, we let political zealots lead us to believe that the lives of any human being not within our strict societal framwework wasn't worth a shit. Even if you support the war, and I'm not trying to bash you if you have a logical/arguable reason behind your support, you have to admit that conservatives have(w/ few exceptions)always been played as favorites in the media(liberal media consists of one or two f*cking shows)and now they reign supreme w/ out question or consequence. Sept.11 was good for somebody...neo-cons, they moved frightened and vunerable Americans towards Nationalism, and disguised it as good ol' Patriotism. I love this country for the fact that I can wake up and not have to worry about where the next meal is coming from, I'm also damn luckly that we don't live in a dicatorship(yet),we can usually speak our minds, be heard, and be supported by others with our same ideals. We usually don't have to worry about being killed and attacked for voicing an opinion(although neo-cons seem to want to reverse that whole deal).
I don't expect any calm or measured response to my post, I expect be called a hippie-fag, or terrorist lover, or Liberal bleeding heart.
But I thought that caring about people, and being the LAND OF THE FREE, is what this whole thing was about; not putting up walls to "outsiders" looking for a better life and a taste of the freedom(wavering)that we all share, we all live on the same planet after all.
