Alicia Silverstone
SPOILER ALERT !!
Speaking of “Scorched” …
On an NBC hourlong premiering Sept. 26, Alicia Silverstone plays a sunny, well-to-do hottie who likes playing matchmaker when she’s not helping out her lawyer daddy.
Has Silverstone finally agreed to reprise her signature role, Cher Horowitz, in some kind of TV sequel to “Clueless”?
Sadly, no. And the really bad news is that, unlike the Alicia-free TV version of “Clueless,” “Miss Match” will not be written and directed by “Clueless” creator and comedy genius Amy Heckerling (“Fast Times At Ridgemont High,” “Look Who’s Talking”).
“Miss Match” was created instead by talent-challenged, lottery-winner-like writer-director Darren Star, purveyor and mastermind of such feculent wonders as “Beverly Hills 90210,” “Melrose Place,” “Central Park West,” “Sex and the City,” “Grosse Pointe” and “The $treet.”
Here’s “Pimp Daddy,” who says he won’t be watching:

NBC’s Miss Match is essentially Clueless the series with a dash of Ally
Mcbeal (only without the witty humour and special effects). Be warned,
the word cute is used excessively throughout.
“Alicia Silverstone stars as Kaite in this charming new drama who is a
sharp divorce attorney in her father's law firm and by night has a
knack for matchmaking, which she considers a hobby until a socialite bride
credits Kate for her romantic success in the press and word of her
talent spreads. Soon, to the dismay of her father, Sid, and her reluctant
legal partner Nick she is juggling the conflicting worlds of divorce and
true love. With her best friend Victoria at her side, Kate is
determined to bring a little romance into her world, perhaps finding her own
true love in the process.”
This is of course the 4th new show this year (Fearless (please for the
love of God cancel it quickly), Tru Calling and Karen Sisco (Out Of
Sight continued, looks very promising), which will have a female lead,
only this show doesn’t involve guns n stuff.
Is there anything wrong with this show? Not really, it’s…cute. Alicia
plays Kate Fox who is a divorce attorney at her fathers law firm. For
the majority of the episode she sets random people up (by the end I’m not
completely sure who she sets up as there are so many of them) as well
as trying to do her job (in a very Ally Mcbeal angle she meets a couple
who are about to get married, only the fiancé wants the bride to sign a
preunp saying she won’t get fat and then there’s also a case where a
guy is leaving his wife but won’t hand their dog over unless his wife
gives him half of her moolah).
She has no luck with her own boyfriend, seems she can find the right
people for everyone but herself, like I said, cute show. She also has
this whole ethics problem, so she’s one of those rare “good lawyers” who
try and do the right thing (here’s me thinking this show was meant to be
believable), much to her father’s frustration.
Will I be watching? Probably not, not that there’s anything wrong with
this show it’s cute, the acting and plots are ok too, but it's not my
kind of show (someone always needs to be blown up to hold my attention).
But I’m sure this will appeal to a certain demographic because for the
type of show it is, it’s not bad.
Oh and of course Alicia’s Silverstone’s character is rich and stylish
as always….

But they had the benefit of being covered with enough make-up to hide their true identities. I think we, the moviegoers, are the ones who truly suffered after Batman and Robin. I just can't help but imagine why anyone thought she would be a good Batgirl. I remember about the time Batman Forever was coming out that Karen Duffy (AKA MTVs Duff) was actually being considered for the role of Batgirl for the next movie. Too bad that didn't pan out, since I actually think she would have been a better Barbera/Batgirl than the one we got.

Point of order - - - Darren Star, mastermind behind "Melrose Place", "90210" and "Central Park West"? (ooo ooo ow ow ow ow ow nuts hurt nuts hurt nuts hurt!!!! sat down wrong...gotta readjust.......ahh....better now...where was I?) SINCE WHEN THE FUCK DID CASTING BULEMIC TV STAR OFFSPRING BECOME SOMETHING THAT QUALIFIES FOR MENSA?????.....and someone dares to call Amy Heckerling genius???? from what?

Watch the first "Grosse Pointe." It is not.

B&R didn't make us HATE him, like we all hated Goldman and Schumacher post-B&R. (Or how we all hated Travolta after B:E).

kristie alley is the mayor of unfunnyville. she suck the laughter out of every scene she's in. it's not "plenty funny", it "sucks", hard. damnit that movie fucking sucked so god damn much. horrible, horrible shit. you know who likes movies where shit talks that can't normally talk (dogs, babies, horses, bears, unicorns)? 13 year old girls. damn.
-
Heckerling has done a lot of very funny stuff... Fast Times is a classic and as good as Crowe's script is she brought it to life, Clueless is wonderful, the first Look Who's Talking is actually pretty funny, Johnny Dangerously is underrated and European Vacation has plenty of great bits. She's certainly had her share of misses too, especially lately (Loser? Ouch), but still, I am a big fan of much of her work.
-
People watched Love Boat
-
To deny all movies with Kirstie Allie is to deny Wrath of Khan and Summer School. That would be wrong.
-
And hot in WRATH OF KHAN and adorable in the first LOOK WHO'S TALKING. Is Silveraged weak-minded or merely homosexual?
-
Ah-Nuld's last decent actioner until T3 (it's good!). And Kirstie Alley was one of the sexiest tomboy beanpoles on the planet until she began to pork out on Veronica's Closet and those ghastly Pier 1 commercials. That scene in Look Who's Talking when she pulls off her sweater while making out with John Travolta and shows that purple bra was arguably the first time I was ever consciously aroused in a movie theater (as a teen). Worth owning the DVD for that scene alone (although it's still a cute, funny comedy, not to be thrown onto the sitcom junk pile with tripe like Baby Geniuses and Baby Bob). Oh yeah, on-topic... I liked Alicia Silverstone a great deal in Clueless (Legally Blonde: The Good Version), and hope that this new series will play to her comedic strengths.
-
Now, while Kirsty Alley films do, as a rule, sock cock in hell, and while its also true that Look Who's Talking is actually kind of Okay, one thing she is not, nor ever was, is hot.
She is a hideously chubby wench and always was. Tomboy beanpole? TOMBOY BEANPOLE?!? She's not a bloody tomboy, shes a MAN! Holy Christ... -

by osmosis jones
Don't let her current, frightening appearance in those awful Pier 1 commercials tell you otherwise.

Please, try harder. It's a well written show, just not one aimed at the fanboy demographic.
-
Maybe I saw the wrong list, but Star has a pretty good track record...I don't like most of the shows on there, but I remember back in high school really liking the Class of '93 (original title for 90210)...and seriously, you all like Sex in the City you fargin liars! It's great! I wish Burger was back on...really wish Aiden was, but they're not. Carrie Bradshaw 0wnz j00 n00bz.
-
Okay, I really don't think you're a jerk...but it rhymed. Anyway...
it confounds me that someone who seems to know great writing when he sees/hears it ("Buffy") can diss one of television's great comedies, the witty, stylish, wonderfully acted "Sex and the City". Huh? Have you watched it? I mean since Season Two. Because unlike a lot of the best of television this show just keeps getting better and better. Somehow, and I don't know how I got this feeling (but I do get it) that straight men don't don't like "Sex" because it's pro-women--I think it's somehow threatening to them in a homosexual panic sort of way. Or maybe, it's just plain homophobia. But it has to do with a "gay thing". Even thoug the show is about women. I don't know. But it's just a vibe I get. There's no other reason that guys like Herc, who are intelligent and knowledegable about the media, can not get the television marvel that is Darren Starr's creation. -
....for the same reason women don't like most of the male testosterone shit that we dig. There's nothing to indentify with for a heterosexual male on Sex and the City. A bunch of "Girl Power!" (though more eloquently stated, the message is still the same) and "Guys are dopey and only worthwhile for their shlongs!". Not that there's anything wrong with that--there's tons of movies out there that are "Guy Powers" and "Ass and Titties", but be damned if you'd get most women interested in them. Now, all the above statements go right out the window if you're gay...because you WILL find something to identify with. Does that explain it enough?
-
Hold on now guys .. Sex in the City is a fun show... but then I'm gay so you will probably disgard my opinion. Of course, if you watched you might have some clue what women are looking for and actually be able to "score" (and not have to settle for downloading porn). Just a thought... no offense intented.
The show is well written, well acted, and damn funny.
