Awesome, awesome news. Let’s hope this is just the studio testing the water to see what fans will do when given such a wonderful gift. My prediction? This is going to be one of the biggest titles of the year. I know I’ll be giving it as a gift this Christmas to all the Warner animation freaks I know.

Thanks for the heads-up on this one.

"Moriarty" out.

I'm there. It's about time, this has got to be one of the most anticipated DVD releases of any year! Would've prefered releases in chronological order, but oh well, better than nothing.

This is even better new than I could have hoped for. I've been waiting for something like this for so many years. Not only don't they make 'em like this anymore, they'll never make 'em like this ever again.

    by renonevada2000

Like I could sit in my office with the annoying broad yapping away behind me and the department manager wandering around like OFFICE SPACE's Lumberg crossed with Frankenstein when these sweet DVDs would be sitting on my local Best Buy's shelf. Instead, I think I'll take a vacation day, run out to the store and then spend the rest of the day on the couch in some comfortable sweats with a big stack of grilled cheese sandwichs. Nothing is better than classic Warner Brothers cartoons. (Tom and Jerry can kiss my ass)

  • I've been waiting a long time for Warner Bros to put out some Looney Tune DVDs, and now tha wait is finally over!! The four disc set sounds schweet!! The fact that they got Chuck Jones (god's speed) to do a little intro gives me the impression that they been working on these sets for quite some time now. I also like the fact they'll include "Blooper Bunny" in the set. That is one of the funniest shorts from the post Termite Terrace years! Here's hoping that "Looney Tunes: Back In Action" will turn out good.

    YES! HYPOCONDRI-CAT!

    by mgthedj

My all-time favorite. The timing on some of the reaction shots of the mice is perfection, and Stan Freeberg is one of the voices. Scorsese is alleged to have asked one of the "Termite" gang how they were able to get the comedic timing so precise, which is the strong point of the WB shorts. This DVD set is loaded. I'll be there with bells, whistles, anvils, shotguns, organ grinders, and I will not forget the gravy.-----later-----m

I expected just some of their cheap cardboard crappy DVD "cases" with a few edited versions, and nothing else, with horrible kiddie aimed packaging, and no respect. I guess they saw how Disney treated their old cartoons as something special, and took a cue.

I think that "son of a bitch" line that Porky says was just an impersionation used on most radio stations. It isn't even done by Mel Blanc. Now that we're getting Looney Tunes, let hope that Warner will also consider making a Tex Avery set! Tex Avey cartoons rock just as hard as Looney Tunes, and i think they deserve just as much respect in my opinion.

YES! I mean, what else is there to say. I skimmed through everything after the play-by-play on disc #1; is 'Vaudeville Rabbit' on there. The Bugs n' Elmer cartoon, no dialogue, that's all about Bugs cutting Elmer's hair? Please... Out.

Cartoons with actual commentary and documentaries. Someone should get a raise at Warner Bros for understanding what the fans of this classic animation want. We are adults that grew up on these cartoons and they are finally treated the fans like adults. This is amazing news. I hope they sell well enough to encourage this kind of marketing.

I also find the exclusion of "What's Opera Doc", and "One Froggy Evening" a bit baffling. Hopefully, they'll include them in another set if all goes well.

  • 'Bout freaking time they started releasing these classic cartoons on DVD. How many times have you not known what to pop into the DVD player and all you wanted was to relax and laugh to pass the time? This is just the thing for such times. Especially since the Cartoon Network doesn't show these cartoons as often as they should, in favor of the putrid dreck they clutter their schedule with. BRING IT ON, WARNER BROS!

This is some of the best news ever. I've been watching looney tunes forever and they never get old and they're older than I am. I cant explain it but they still make me laugh and most of the time I've seen the same episodes countless times. I'm not expecting to, but maybe just maybe there might be an episode on this that I somehow never saw. I doubt it tho. But I still cant wait.

Wow. This is the best news since my beloved NE Patriots won the Super Bowl! Is the one where Daffy is on animation board and Bugs is the animator included? I always forget the title of that one... Man, milk still goes through my nose, when I think of Daffy on tirade, and Bugs drawing him with a flower-petal mane, spotted body, on all fours with a tail...!

son-of-a-biscuit. Bet you thought I was gonna say son-of-a-bitch, didn't ya?!" I have a copy of it somewhere on an old tape of "Nightflight", and I found it once on Kazaa, I think. If I can find my copy, I'll digitize and I'll post a link here-- it definitely has no copyright, and is parody :), so no foul... and no fowl, just Porky . I heard it was real, not just a regular cartoon re-dubbed, but instead done by some studio animators fooling around underground style.

Coyote gets himself ejected from a cliff, blown up, or fallen victim to any other destructive catastrophe trying to catch that damn road runner. If Warner Bros. pays their respects to the ultimate cat-and-mouse team that don't even have anything to do with cats or mice, then I'm on board. Beep beep! (Oh, and Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck are cool too, yada yada yada...)

Duck Amuck is the epitome of Western civilization

    by st.buggering

I've had those old laserdiscs sitting on my shelf for years. Those, and the original cuts of the Star Wars trilogy are the main reasons I still own a laserdisc player. At least I can stop waiting for my Looney Tunes DVD at last. Seriously, Chuck Jones is one my personal gods, and Duck Amuck is the most insanely creative seven minutes of animation ever made. In general, Jones' entire Daffy Duck ouvre is brilliant, especially considering how little I enjoy the pre-Jones version of the character. Between this and the Lion King finally hitting DVD, I'm one giggly schoolgirl animation geek.

The cartoon you're referring to is "The Rabbit of Seville". It is mostly music and action, but there are a few passages with lyrics (Don't look so perplexed...why should you be vexed?..can't you see you're next?..yes, you're next...you're so next). And yes, I am a raging toon nerd.

    Reply to Talkback

  • Also they gotta put out the other two shorts starring the Three Bears. Of all the "non-star-power" WB cartoons, those are about the funniest ever made. And by the way, for those of you insufficiently nerdy folk who haven't watched nearly enough cartoons and think "What's Opera, Doc?" is the greatest six minutes of toon tuneage ever made, can I please have a show of hands in support of the proposition that "Rabbit of Seville" can beat up "Opera" and take its lunch money?
