Father Geek here with pigmon and another report from the shores of Japan...

Hi Father Geek-san...

Here is this week's report from ol' pigmon, This week is a little bit slow....
but I will see "T3" next Tuesday which is first advance screening of it in Japan.

NEWS

* Punk rock band, Stancepunks will sing the theme song for the upcoming 'Battle Royale
II".
Director Kenta Fukasaku says that his father even liked this song. The title
of the song
is "Mayonaka Totsugegitai".

* Mituki Koga, a former professional kick boxer will be playing an operator of Riyuki(Mecha
Godzilla) for the motion picture
"Godzilla vs Mothra vs Mecha Godzilla... Tokyo SOS". He is already infamous for his
Levis commercials
throughout the Asian market. He will also appear in the movie "Last Samurai".

* Another bit of news for "Godzilla vs Mothra vs Mecha Godzilla... Tokyo SOS" fans is that
there will be a huge crowd scene to be shot at Shiba Park in Tokyo, July 20th. If you live in Tokyo, or near by, you should check it out for sure. Rub elbows with a real(?) big screen Super Star... Become a part of film (pop culture) history... Go get squashed, or maybe roasted alive by the legendary man-in-suit Monster and his famous co-stars!

* On June 16, beautiful Charlize Theron appears at "The Italian Job" Japan
premire in Roppongi Hills Arena in Tokyo. She comes with 30 mini Couper. Mark
Wahlberg was supposed to appear in this premire, but is becoming a father so can
not leave U.S. All the media can do is just stare at her beautiful legs......

* Toho Towa co. which is the part of invester and distributor in Japan for "
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines " announces that there will be a big T3 Japan
premire in Ariake center, Tokyo with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nick Stahl,
Claire Danes, Kristanna Loken and Jonathan Mostow all attending.

* "The Matrix Reloaded" breaks Japanese record again.
This time,it breaks first
one week of release box office record ,$29.1 million. Old record is marked by
"Sprited Away".

* "The Grudge", the remake of Japanese horror masterpiece,"Juon" will start
shooting at the Izu resort area(about 80 miles from Tokyo)in September.

SHORT REVIEWS.....

"Ultura Man Cosmos VS Ultra Man Justice:The Final Battle"(Shochiku)
directed byTsugumi Kitaura

For the first time in Ultra Man history, Ultra Man faces Ultra Man. Ultra Man
Cosmos protects the earth, but Ultra Man Justice does not like Cosmos'
attitude. All Ultra Men are supposed to protect all the universe's peace. Huge UFO(just like
"Independence Day") and 2 cool looking robots attack SRC Space Center where two
monster delivery rockets are about to launch. Cosmos comes to reascue but Justice
stands in front of Cosmos. On first encounter, Justice kills Cosmos. By mystic
powers, Cosmos rises again and persuades Justice to fight against the Alien. Now Cosmos
and Justice unite and become a new Ultra Man, Ultra Man Legend! This movie is
still for kids, but adults can enjoy it because the VFX is great. This movie will be in
Japanese theaters on August 2nd.

*"Chain"(Art-Port)directed by Atsushi Sihimizu

Another horror movie from Japan, this time a fortune teller chain mail on cell
phone will kill you.
Shooting with digital video camera, it just looks like "Blair Witch Project", this
image helps to get us scared. A whole bunch of young people all over Japan,
start getting fortune teller chain mail on cell phones and those who get these
mails, die in mysterious ways. "Chain" focuses on a young brother and sister ,Riyo
and Yuri, whose friends start dying. Finally in the middle of the night,
Yuri finds that Riyo is reading email on his cell phone (just like "The
Ring"). Now will he be dead, or not next? This movie will open next month only in
Tokyo(late show only).

      'Chain'

      by trench404

You know, I liked this idea better when it was called Ringu, and was scary. So by replacing vcr's/cursed video tape with mobiles/spooky fortune teller this somehow avoids being deriative crap? Oh, and please dont someone come along and point out something that Ringu *might* have been based on, because i dont care, really.

      it's "Mayonaka Shounen Totsugeki Dan"

      by themikejonas

which translates to "Midnight Boys Attack Team." It's probably got some significance to Kinji Fukusaku's film crew, who call themselves the "Midnight Workers." "Mayonaka" is a 7-minute punk song that starts off slow, laid-back, and wistful then goes all-out punk at the end. It's a nice listen, but it's no "Shizukana Hibi No Kaidan Wo," the surprisingly touching rock-rap song that the first Battle Royale closed with.

      by brimacombe

Has anyone seen the video for Brilliant Disguise where the Boss is sitting in his kitchen singing and the camera slowly slowly zooms in, and by the end of the song it is literally in his face. And he looks anguished and man, is it ever intense! Best music video ever, I swear to you.

Dammit man, they would be PERFECT for the BR2 soundtrack. + "The Core" is #2 at the box office. Sweet merciful crap- America will lose face with it's Japanese counterparts. Out.

I believe this remake is the American production and release, directed by the original Japanese director and shot in Japan.

      It's "Kiryu", not "Ryuki". Sheesh!

      by scorpio

If you're going to try to be cool and clever, at least be accurate! MechaGodzilla's tag is "Kiryu", not "Ryuki". Two different words for "dragon". Your headline makes it sound as if Godzilla and Mothra are going to team up on Kamen Rider Ryuki. Which might be a good thing. And it's "Godzilla x Mothra x Mechagodzilla: Tokyo SOS", not "vs". And if _you_ would like to be in on the shoot, you have to go to http://www.toho.co.jp/gmmg/welcome-j.html and register. All hail Mothra.
