Cool look at THUNDERBIRDS!

Published at:  Jun 20, 2003 8:35:21 PM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here... Personally, I've got a great deal of hope for THUNDERBIRDS. I love the retro-future look of the film from what I've seen. I like the cast, the only real doubts I have are with the script and the director... Jonathan Frakes. I liked his turn as director on STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT, but pretty much hated STAR TREK: INSURRECTION. I never saw CLOCKSTOPPERS, so officially for me... Frakes is firing at a 50-50 rate of success. Here he's got a great cast, really school ships and it might be the second coolest retro-sci-fi flick in Summer 2004 - (WORLD OF TOMORROW will own!) Check out the cool behind the scenes preview at the links below! Here ya go...

Hi Harry,

Tom Punisher here. Great site,i read it all the time.I have a news for you on the Thunderbirds movie .Did you know that Lady Penolope's car (Fab1) could fly?
Well, there is a special 4-minute behind-the-scenes look at the movie which show glimpses of this, interviews with director Jonathan Frakes, the Working Title crew, costume designer,ship/CGI designs/animation and some exclusive looks at scenes .The file is a low-quality realplayer file, about 3,96 mb in size.

Thunderbirds are go!

Direct file link (3.96 mb): http://www.fantasystore.co.uk/03-05-19_TBirds.rm

Highlight the link and place in your Realplayer - otherwise it just gets all garbage code text all over your screen, but works great in Realplayer!

Unless of course Rick Berman wrote it. What's that you say he writes just about everything now? Oh well that explains so much. (BTW sorry for the empty post - damn return key. HArry why don't you step into the 21st centtury with these damn Talkbacks??)

You'd better watch it with those typos, Harry. If people thought this Talkback was about the Thunderbirds movie, they might get HORRIBLY off topic, even in the first few posts! Not that these lovable scamps would do something like that.

Thunderbirds are poor quality Real Player!

    by grando

Seriously, I could hardly make out shit.

And did anyone else think of Troy McClure when Frakes said this - "Hi, I'm Jonathan Frakes. You might remember me from Star Trek".

    What's a "really school ship"?

    by supertoyslast

Though getting to school in a Thunderbirds vehicle would kick ass. Unless it was a yellow bus with "Thunderbird 11" painted on the side.

    Commander Frakes

    by thejake

I think Frakes did a great job on First Contact, he did a good job on Insurrection but the story sucked ass, and I haven't seen Clockstoppers either. I have faith in Riker. I just hope the story doesn't suck.

It is too late for me. Some yahoos, whom already deleted, has ruinged it for me, but I am glad you got rid of the spoilers for others.

    I'll try to reserve judgement....

    by flynn77

Is it just me, or does the design work on this movie seem way off base. I'll wait to see finished effects for quality, but why have they messed around with the vehicle designs so much. Thunderbird 2 now looks like a super-deformed bath toy, and the bit where the pink rolls concept art turns into a hairbrush...classic.

  • This is real news reported on Dark Horizons and other sites. Christopher Nolan, who is to direct, wants Guy Pierce for Batman, but the studio is insisting on Ashton Kutcher. As a longtime comics fan, all that I can say is that if this horrid idea comes to pass, we fans need to organize a boycott of the movie. I, for one, will never pay a red cent to go see a movie that presumes to cast teen-girl and gay favorite/flavor of the week Ashton Kutcher as Batman. AICN needs to set up a Talkback on this and we need to get organized NOW as fans to prevent this abomination from happening. I am posting this news here since Jonathon Frakes, director of the Thunderbirds movie, is on deck to possibly direct the next Superman movie, and this is the closest current talkback to this subject. Harry and Company need to set up an article and Talkback reporting this horrible, horrible news so that we fans can begin our attempt to shoot this crap down before someone gets the stupid idea to actually make a movie with Ashton Kutcher as Batman (I can't even believe that I am typing those words...Ashton Kutcher was a horrible enough idea for Superman, but Batman is way, way out of bounds...if he is cast, we need to put together a geek SWAT team and raid Warner studios to put a stop to this crap). Barron out.

    Oh, I don't know...

    by shai-hulud

...this looks like it might be a fun way to kill an Sunday afternoon. I love Thunderbirds, too, as well as virtually every other GA creation, and this looks to be a decent homage. OK, maybe it won't win any Oscars (OSCAR is a trademark of the Acadamy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences but I really don't give a rat's ass), but what the hell. Nifty FX, appealing source material, and Bill "Game Over" Paxton? Why the hell not? Knock yerself out, there, Frakes, pal. I'll go see yer flick. And Barron, I'm right behind ya with the "Dude, Where's my Batmobile?" boycott.

    Bill Paxton in Thunderbirds?!?

    by deceptive_blue

Mornin', folks...I think the best office-prank I've pulled was when I took some special anal-baked peanuts & almonds (pulled directly from thine very own bunghole) & placed them in some chinese chicken salad for an office potluck. When I saw my boss take a big ol' bite & say "Mmmmm...delicious!", I damn near died laughing!!

    Br-br-br-br-Breet!!!

    Lost In Space Too

    by rex manning

This looks grrrreat - if you like The Avengers, Lost In Space, The Saint and Space Truckers.

They could've gone all out with retro-chic and really had some fun with it but it looks like neither fish nor foul and with a journeyman director like Frakes at the helm it's gonna be Simon Wincer-tastic.

Ashton Kutcher as Batman? That's GREAT...

    by commando cody

...If you want to mark your calender now for the SHITTIEST movie you'll attend in the next decade. Wow. I'm amazed to read that -- no, actually jaw droppingly stunned. I HOPE it's just another stray, silly rumor. Otherwise all I can say is I really, really, really pity DC Comics these days. Just when I think it isn't possible for the suits at Warner Bros. to be even bigger clueless fuck-ups than they've already proven they are, they prove me wrong.
