IT'S NOT ONLY MERELY DEAD, IT'S REALLY MOST SINCERELY DEAD !

Published at:  Mar 08, 1998 12:00:00 AM CST

For a long time my friends have been razzing me about "the lines" going across the top of my television screen. They had a ratio of about 2:35:1, appeared to be something like a folded transparency - i.e. - the image almost looked like it had been folded over from the top of the screen and was still being displayed on top of the existing (normal) image.

I’ve let this go on for a while now, because I simply couldn’t afford to replace the set. Now the image is turning green, and sometimes not even snapping into place at all. I asked a friend who has had similar experiences with his television set, and he’s indicated the had no luck getting it fixed for any rational length of time. So, for all intents and purposes, Coaxial’s TV is dead.

It’s impossible to run a TV oriented web page like this without having a television set. I really need one, but can’t afford to spend too much for a replacement. As such, I am seeking reader’s thoughts and recommendations about brands, quality, and any little details they’ve discovered through experience which may help me to make the best-educated decision regarding what makes one kind of TV better than another.

It’s a tall order to fill, but I need to be able to get this right on not very much cost. I always encourage reader feedback, and I’m encouraging it now in an effort to make the best decision both economically, and for this web page in general.

My sincerest thanks in advance to anyone who responds to this request for information.
