This ain't Count Chocula's Castle! Fang-tastic shots of VAN HELSING set!

Published at:  May 19, 2003 2:36:19 PM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here... Looks like they've got teeny tiny sets for this VAN HELSING movie. Notice how small it is compared to Semis. Yup, understated is definitely the way they're going on this one. If ever there was an evil bloodsucker's icicle covered castle, these are pics of the front. Think all those enormous torches will be lit? I do. Here ya go...

Harry,

Greetings and salutations! I am writing because I took some photos of something you will find of interest…Draculas effing castle! The castle scenes are being filmed in my neck of the woods (Downey,CA) at an old plane manufacturing plant, the same location where they filmed the big intro to the Green Goblin at the “World Festival” for Spiderman. It turns out this place was also used for the big chase scene for the new Marky Mark’s (minus the funky bunch) new flick the “Italian Job”. In one of the pics I sent, you can see on the right, some empty transport containers which the day before were covered by a huge blue screen. It looks totally fan-boy awesome so I hope you can use these and from here on out I will be doing what I can to get my “Peter Parker” on for you blokes at the aicn…and if you do decide these are site worthy pics please refer to me as…

Seriously, what's up with those chains? My Castle Greyskull looked more realistic. Okay, my NEIGHBOR's Castle Greyskull. Lucky jerk.

    chain links

    by malikye

i noticed that the bridge has chain links to pull it up. i think that the chain links were invented after Van Helsing time, so this is wrong. i'm not going to watch the movie now!

    Great.

Thanks for the sneak peek, but I'm bummed. This had *so* better be twelve-hundred times better on screen. At least my Fango came today. I'll look at real sets there.

Hey, isn't that the castle from Willow painted ice color? I sure hope this looks better when all the effects are done...

Looks like a f**king cluttered mess!

    by horus

It does !The concept art for the werewolf etc were great , and the mummy movies had some lovely production design , but this looks like a real mess, very fake looking .Perhaps lit well at ground level and in nightime t will look good .

    Everyone

    by playhouse

I'm sure they are going to film this at night so you don't see the fact that it is a false front to a castle. So that should help the look. Besides, have you ever seen most sets before they are filmed? They look as fake if not more than this does. It's all in the lighting, the coloring on the film, day or night, and the angles with which they shoot. Bet this looks quite different in the movie.

    by 007-11

That's NOT Count Chocula's castle? Where the hell does he live, anyway? Also, every picture I've seen for this movie so far has me pumped. Can't wait for this one.

I still can't get over Harry wanting to see vampires and warewolves in the Matrix. Are you going to wish for Neo in this one?

"i don't know if it's newsworthy enough for AICN"

    by jackburtonlives

MWHAAHAHAHAHAHA! man, a picture of a skid row wino wearing a spiderman T-shirt is enough to get posted on this site. Harry has passed off stories on "dispelling possible rumours before they are aired" before. don't worry, buddy. these pix make the AICN grade. when the bar is so low... there is no bar! a curious twist on THE MATRIX quote.

    by a winner is you

Apart from having one of the lamest ass nicks I've ever seen, that has to be one of the fakest photos I've ever seen. No way in fuck is that full scale... even the semis and vehicles look like they probably have Made in Taiwan underneath them. Nice try, but don't go yanking our chains again.
