New FINDING NEMO trailer - the last one before genius is unspooled!

Published at:  May 06, 2003 3:57:27 AM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here... This is such a vibrant and pretty and visually stunning looking film. From those scarred sharks to the inside of that whale's mouth to just the underwater world that this film takes place in. It all looks so freaking good! My nephew took over my computer and played the trailer a good 3 dozen times before he started demanding that I bring up the HULK trailer for him to watch a similar amount of times. He really loves his HULK trailer. I also find it creepy that a nearly 3 year old kid can use a mouse and control Quicktime and go frame by frame through a trailer while giving a commentary and asking questions. Mainly in this trailer he would stop it, "Was that Hawe, Was that?" and I had to explain that was a lobster and a crab and coral (which he never did understand) and sharks and oh, that's a hammerhead shark and that's a blowfish and so on and so forth, and he'd do his best to pronounce the fish name after each name I gave him. Oddly, in the HULK trailer, he won't call Jennifer's character Betsy, he calls her, "Prewty gurl!" Hey, he's on to something there!

...unless Disney are changing the title to keep it in the spirit of the twee crap they are trying to shake off, then the name of the movie is FINDING Nemo.

That trailer alone has committed me to make a run to the theatre when this scrumptious title releases. Brilliant!

  • But there are many more reasons to that as to why this is going to be the first Pixar movie I plan to avoid. The voice talent leaves something to be desired, the humor already seems to fall flat, the Lifetime-channel fodder plot already looks like it's going to go nowhere, and, again, it's rated G. Sorry, Pixar, you've peaked, and now you're past your prime. "Shrek 2", anyone?

    Finding Nemo

    by playhouse

When I went to see X2, everyone in the theater was cracking up at the trailer for this. For some odd reason, whenever I see a new project by Pixar come out, I'm not that excited about it. Then I see it and I'm just absolutely snowed and blown away. So this bodes well. I enjoyed the trailer but this movie hasn't been in my top ten to see this year. Once again, when I see it, I will be most impressed, I'm sure.

    Looks pretty bad

    by rupee88

This is the first Pixar film that I probably won't go see at the theatre. The animation looks great as always, but the characters look boring and the humor looks flat. The "surfer dude" turtles are so f***king lame and unimaginative. Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were genius, Bug's Life and Monsters Inc were entertaining, and Finding Nemo looks like a bore.

I love stories about your nephew, Harry, he sounds so interesting! Could he be a regular, or be made more a part of your film-going experience? Oh god, I've turned into such a sap.

Hey CoolDan989, Pixar films have *always* been rated "G"

    by osmosis jones

That still doesn't keep them from being studded with anarchic adult wit. Yeah, the "Surfer Dude" turtles look somewhat dated, but that's, what, one or two gags in a 90-minute movie? Anyone who's not looking forward to the new Pixar film (whatever it may be) needs to have their head examined!

    How cute!

    by viola123

Harry, that's so cute about your nephew. LOL at how good he is at Quicktime too. But his comments about the animation and Jennifer Connelly -- that just made me smile. I'm really looking forward to the latest from Pixar and "The Hulk" is sigh, on my short list of 2003 Must-See! I cannot wait to see it. That promotional pic of Eric Bana, where he's leaning on his arm against the wall -- I fell in love with Bruce Banner right then and there. Eric Bana is going to so kick in this film, I can't wait. And then once I get that off my list, all eyes on "Cold Mountain." Sigh. Anyway, go Nemo and I just saw a billbaord for the movie and it said "Sea it!" -- aw, clever. Me love it!

  • However, FINDING Nemo will no doubt kick ass. Although I have to say, I liked Ice Age much more than Monsters Inc. (mainly because Monsters made me cry... don't ask). But Pixar seems right on the money with this one.

With Each Passing Trailer I See, "T3" Sinks A Little Lower OR..

    by jollydwarf

Just do it so I can see all of the vintage Disney characters in their environments and cry like a 3-year-old! It's time that these characters were reintroduced (but not "reimagined") for Generation YYZ or whatever. Ah, like "Roger Rabbit" being made today, it'll never happen. Or at least not as it should be. Nevertheless, this summer (specifically the early part) looks better than last year. It certainly got off to a better start this past weekend. Trailers like this are comforting, because I have unconditional faith in Pixar, and because if a certain sequel this month IS a disappointment, at least "two out of three ain't bad". I just can't wait to see how much Mr. Knowles hates "Terminators 3: The Rest of the Machines". Or whatever he'll be calling it.

Doesn't look Great, but its' pixar...

    by digdig

so I'll be there opening day, no use pretending otherwise. Monsters Inc. Started off slow but still had some hilarious stuff in it, and this seems it'll be the same way. I'd prefer the voices were different but I guess technically john goodman can't do every animated voice. I'm gonna go broke at the movies this year.

    Officially gone gaga

    by heleno

Am guessing it comes out here in the UK rather later than in the US, cause I have yet to see a single trailer in theatres, except maybe a teaser last year. Can't wait though - looks like the Pixar golden age continues.
