More on Lady Penelope's purty pink everything! THUNDERBIRDS

Published at:  Apr 28, 2003 5:49:40 AM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here... ya know... I'm really really hoping this thing works. Thus far, from what I've seen they're going for a very retro-futuro cool style... the sort that looks like it'd be linked from this place, but I'm hoping to Cthulhu that there's more to this than cool actors and style. Haven't seen the script for it, haven't heard from anybody that's seen the script yet. So right now, it's just something to be moderately interested in, and hopeful that it blows us all away. Definitely check the link out...

Hey Harry,

I've tried posting before about this wonderful newspaper, but someone always pips me to it!!
The Great British Tabloid - The Sun, has posted another series of shots from the new Thunderbirds movie.
Old Commander Riker seems to have hit the nail on the head with Lady Penelope's car, and she doesn't look too bad either!!

Here's the link to the article:

Da Link Boyz!

You can call me The Equalizer.....

  • RIKER... keep up the good work. Don't let THUNDERBIRDS go 'tits up'. Still, wouldn't take much to be better than the last eight Star Trek movies. Should be a Rolls-Royce though. Ron Cook looks the biz as Parker.

    by schnorbitz

FAB 1, I hope. And imho Parker would look better in black shoes. Still, I'm looking forward to it. :-D. Ron Cook was fantastic in Topsy Turvy. Not that many people who read this would have seen Topsy Turvy.

Harry typed that he's "hoping to Cthulhu." I can't even rationally discuss this. I think I just threw up in my mouth. Is there such a thing as an Uberdork? Because Harry is One. I just pictured him lording over all of the other dorks on the planet like Randall Flagg.

    by heleno

Bored already. And more than a little concerned that the only website that cares about the Thunderbirds movie is The Sun. That paper is a stain on the face of the world, and if they are really interested in the Thunderbirds movie, I am more and more convinced that it will be crap. I fear it may suffer from the same flaw as the Avengers - they're so concerned with getting it to look cool that they'll forget to make it any good.

    It's Always Been for KIDS!!!!

    by deandome

I'm sick of all the geeching (geek-bitching!!)about this movie. I have a 2 1/2 year old boy who LOVES the Thunderbirds, and I can't wait for the film, 'cause it might well be his first theater experience. Stop whining that it's not going to be a "grown up" movie. Even though the puppets smoked & drank a lot, it was always a KIDDIE show, and I am glad that Riker is sticking with that format. And it IS possible to have a movie that kids & adults can both enjoy (though not too easy!).

They should make an "Equalizer" movie

    by gypsytrobot

although knowing Hollywood, they'd make Ralph Fiennes play the title role, when it should be Michael Caine. Actually the only thing I can remember from that show was a cool factory chase sequence where they kept on cutting to a piece of machinery with an eerie "swoosh-swoosh" noise. That sound effect ranks high in my TV memory banks along with Richard Kiel as the giant Indian spirit from "Kolchak the Night Stalker" chanting "ee eye ee eye ee eye . . . ee eye EE EYE EE EYE" but never climaxing with an "oh." When are they going to make a Kolchak movie anyway?

    by genericgeek

That was a cool, misunderstood flick. Anyways, I'LL PAY to see a Thunderbirds flick, just because it's sci-fi. But why make it with people boggles the mind. And what's this I hear about a kid? Jeepers...

    One day some exec...

    by djx

somewhere is going to want to make a live action version of My Little Pony. What's even more scary is if a studio exec got such an idea from reading this post. Kiss goodbye to your memories of your favourite childhood tv shows as all will be milked in the pursuit of big bucks and none will be spared...not even Thudercats.

The little big secret about this movie.

    by buynothing

As a Jew I am privvy to certain information about the media, since, as you know, we control it. Last month I was flipping through the news letter sent to me by the Elders of Zion. Usually I just read the the finance section so I'll know what commands have been issued to the world banking system for the month. But something in the entertainment section caught my eye. There was an article about the kinds of movies the omnipresent Hebrew establishment would be forcing into production in the comming year. Foremost on the list were a series of films that featured live action conversions of old kid's shows with zero cinematic value. The reasons for doing this obviously can't be shared with all you gentiles out there. But I can tell you that one of the first projects selected to go through production was a "Thunderbirds" adaptation. This was seen as the most vapid starting place and the film project most likely to result in a big pile of steaming cinematic schmootz. Just to make sure, Johnathan Frakkes was attached to direct. And as with everything mapped out by the mighty Elders of Zion, from the death of Jesus to the myth of the Holocaust, the plan is working perfectly- this movie will suck.
