UPDATED!! ANGEL To Repeat Sunday

Published at: March 20, 2003, 1:24 a.m. CST by staff

I am – Hercules!!

UPDATE!! "Angel" will return to its old 9 p.m. Sunday timeslot one week only so that the WB can rerun "Orpheusm" the Willow-Faith episode pre-empted in many markets Wednesday by war coverage.

War coverage cut off the kinda important final five minutes of “Angel” on New York’s WPIX (and apparently on other eastern and central time zone affiliates). Until the WB can get a transcript on its own site (and if there is one, someone please forward the link), we offer this as a public service. Use the invisotext, Luke.

FAITH: Well, that vice is plenty versa. I even start, it's only gonna lead to hugging and--

ANGEL: No. We can't have that.

FAITH: No. [Laughs]

Angel and Faith re-enter the hotel.

CONNOR: All right, I get it. I messed up.

FAITH: Hey, cheer up, punk. That just makes you one of us.

GUNN: You headed out?

FAITH: Hey, no tears, big guy.

GUNN: Nah, I'm good. I just wish I could've seen you kickin' the crap outta junior here.

FAITH: It was pretty funny.

Both laugh.

FAITH: Wes.

WES: Faith.

FAITH: See? Brits know how to say good-bye. Angel here wanted to hug.

ANGEL: No, I didn't.

FAITH: You ran a good show.

GUNN (good-naturedly): Yeah, sit back and let the girl do all the heavy liftin'.

WES: That's pretty much it.

Willow and Fred enter the lobby from the office.

FRED: I think that volume's outdated. Uh, you'd know better than me, but there's some interesting stuff about hellmouth. Might help.

WILLOW: This is great.

FRED: I have to say, someday I'd love to bend your ear about the pergamum codex. I -I think some of the really obscure passages are actually latin translated from a demonic tongue, and they're kind of a hoot. [Laughs] All this stuff about bacchanals and spells, and - actually I think it's probably funnier in Latin. You know how that is sometimes. [Laughs]

WILLOW: I'm seeing someone.

FAITH: Time goes by, Will.

WILLOW: Ok. Good. Wagons west. See you guys.

ANGEL: Willow.

FAITH: He's gonna tell you how much he owes you.

WILLOW: Oh, don't mention it. I got a slayer out of the deal, so we're even steven. (Willow hugs Angel.) I'll... tell Buffy you said hi.

ANGEL: Good. Thanks.

WILLOW: Oh, um, next time you guys resurrect Angelus, call me first, OK?

Willow and Faith exit the building.

ANGEL: Ahem. So we're back.

WES: It would seem.

ANGEL: Look, I know things have been, uh--

Cordy dramatically descends the lobby staircase. All look up.

CORDELIA: Sorry, Angel... but if this is the speech about how the worst is behind us... [Cordelia sighs] You may wanna save it for later.

Cordy bares her gigantor belly.

I am – Hercules!!

Tis one sad day and its only going to get worse. Thank you to President Bush and Vice President Tony Blair (my prime minister) for signing death warrants for thousands of innocents. Flame me if you want- I'm out.

I thank you, Herc. You've performed a valuable public service.

    by XTheCrovvX

I have a feeling shows getting cut off for war crap is gonna become regular for the next few months....so someone should take a transcript, just in case. And thank God cable doesnt pull the same stunt. If South Park got preempted, i swear....

    two WBs on my cable

    by RenoNevada2000

I got two WBs on my cable, NYC's and the local. Since the local one has bad board ops who frequently clip the begining and end of show acts with miss-timed commercials, I was watching the NYC affiliate when they went to war coverage SIX MINUTES BEFORE THEIR REGULAR NEWS BEGAN!!!! HEY NYC-WB, I know you're in some imaginary news war with the other affiliates in NYC, but let's face it- WWOR waited until their 10 o'clock news began, couldn't you? No one was thinking, "hey the news begins in five minutes, but I just can't wait to see if we started the war." Geez, you guys suck. (Fortunately, I quick flipped over to the local and caught the rest...)

  • March 20, 2003, 8:09 a.m. CST

    did it air in LA?

    by themidnighter23

Did the entire show air in LA? can anyone tell me please

  • March 20, 2003, 8:11 a.m. CST

    Mr. Monomaniac. *not a flame*

    by FuckFrance

Are you as equally concerned about the 3000 Iraqi children that die each month of inadequate medical care and starvation? Even though we disagree on the war I know we agree that loss of innocent life is horrible. I know the allied forces will do everything to minimize innocent casualties even when Saddam would use them as shields.

  • March 20, 2003, 8:46 a.m. CST

    Thanks for the transcript

    by harosa

Thank you so much for this, when the newsbreak started 5 minutes before 10 i couldnt believe it, all that to show you a still from Iraq and 20 minutes before Bush even spoke. Much appreciated.

Luckily my station didn't cut from it this time... but the fact

    by Wungolioth

The deadline ended 2 hours beforehand, was anything really happening at quarter to 10 that warranted breaking away from the show? As I recall, they didn't start reporting about the decapitation strike until after 10 or 11. I dunno, I was kinda burying my head in the sand anyways, caught the new Six Feet Under at 9(almost missed it this week), watched new South Park at 10, and watched my tape of Angel at 10:30, but I caught dribs and drabs between and it looked like nothing was going on. What did WPIX claim to be the big emergency that they had to break for? I was watching CNN last night and I wanted to hit some of the correspondents, asking inane questions to troops as they prepare for war and don't need the distraction. Shouting to pilots to give thumbs up or mug for the camera, pilots who are trying to launch off an aircraft carrier, a dangerous maneuver even at times of peace. After being told by military officers that they aren't sure when more strikes would occur, asking the question again, and I'm sitting at home screaming, "If they knew, they wouldn't be telling you, Asshole!"

    disappointing. . .

    by Forget_Byron

I thought the whole point of CNN and Fox News stations was so people who want to watch this so-called war (which will last a total of 30 minutes in actual combat time) can turn there, and those who don't won't have to be subjected to it on networks whose secondary goal is to entertain. For those of you who at least saw the first 55 minutes, feel lucky. I have 3 different UPNs on my sattelite, all in different time zones, and usually watch Angel at 9 central time. Unfortunately, CNN was pre-empting on every channel! I did manage to tape the final 40 minutes or so at 11 p-m but have not yet watched it. I really expected to miss it. Sure, I agree, the war issue is important, but in my profession I am subjected to it 14 hours of my day as it is. Thanks to the person who took the time to call WGN and told them how you feel. It's too bad they think this minor oil-conflict distraction is the most important thing since World War 2. It's not. And it never will be. Terrorists who want to topple Chicago will do so regardless of our decision to drive out one lone dictator who's probably living 500 miles below the surface- WATCHING CNN!

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- Anthony Michael Hall, who stars in the television series "The Dead Zone," is being sued for more than $900,000 (U.S. $612,000) by the show's insurer, which says he failed to disclose a mental illness. In the negligent misrepresentation lawsuit, Chubb Insurance of Canada claims production of the series in Vancouver was disrupted when Hall was admitted to St. Paul's Hospital on May 11, 2001, following an episode of "bipolar affective disorder depression with psychotic features." He was discharged from the hospital a day later and returned to his home in New York, according to documents filed last week in British Columbia Supreme Court. Hall had stopped taking his prescribed medication for the illness, previously known as manic depression, according to the court filing. After filming was delayed until Aug. 14, 2001, the production company, Lions Gate Film Corp., submitted an insurance claim and received $912,042.28, which Chubb is trying to recover. According to the court filing, cast members filled out a form asking, among other questions, whether they'd been "under a doctor's care for any physical or mental condition during the past five years." Hall replied only that he'd been under a doctor's care for a broken finger in 1994, Chubb's lawyers wrote. Lawyers said Hall would respond to the lawsuit. No trial date has been set. The 34-year-old actor gained fame in his teens with "geek" roles in such movies as "National Lampoon's Vacation," "Sixteen Candles" and "The Breakfast Club." He plays Johnny Smith in "The Dead Zone," the USA Network series based on a Stephen King novel in which a teacher emerges from a six-year coma with psychic powers.

    Those wacky guys at WGN

    by Electric_Monk

WGN used to be one of those stations that always aired regular programming when the networks cut away for Breaking News. But over the last few years, WGN wants to compete with the other local network stations here, so they break in now. But it's not them, the local people reporting the news, but CNN; the local FOX station does the same, cutting to FOXNews. Why do they do this? Even people who don't have cable (like my parents) will watch the local network news (from ABC, CBS and NBC) and not the local news on two mini-network stations. And since a good portion of people in Chicago has cable, they don't need to see CNN on their local WGN outlet. They'll switch over to CNN anyway. And it's not like anyone had exclusive photos, as every station carried the same images. Of course they had Chuck Coppula on the videophone, but even that was unexciting. It's all about ratings, folks, and someone is complaining how petty I sound missing the last 10 minutes of Angel. WGN simply wants to say they had higher ratings than the other local stations here. I just don't think we need wall to wall coverage that's all I'm saying. And until UPN, FOX and the WB produce 3 hours a night, seven days a week of TV programs like the big three, then don't cut away.

    Dear SaddamInsane..

    by Rothlaar

Madeleine Albright never worried about those Iraqi children when she was Defense Secretary; when quizzed on the fact her response was "..on balance we think it's worth it". I hope the allies do try to minimise casualties, but don't kid yourself. Saddam Hussein has been able to get away with the horrendous suffering he has inflicted on his people in the past 12 years because of UN sanctions enforced primarily by the US & UK. And if you take a look at the bombing strategy of the allies in the first gulf war, where they broke the Geneva convention to bomb sewage facilities, water, food and electricity supplies and in excess of 100,000 civilians were killed, I'd be healthily sceptical of the ,minimizing of civilian casualties if I were you. "Shock and awe" indeed, as the Bush administration likes to put it!

I'll tell ya why, the journalist suits had to have their self-important pissing contest of who is smarter than who. Of course I wanted to know what Bush had to say, but did we need 20 minutes of what he might say, do, think. That's IF he's THINKING with his brain anyway....

    Angel vs. War

    by RandRT

I have 2 things to say on this that will probably get me booted from here, but I do not care. 1) I've been watching war coverage all day and it is depressing. If I want my goddam hour of escapist Angel, get off my fucking back about it. Second, I've heard alot of people on this TB talking about how war is wrong in Iraq and never give one good answer for why it is wrong. You want to condemn Bush and Blair for killing "innocents"? Wake the fuck up. The only way you could possibly be more insulting to the world is to go to the graves of those who died in the 9-11 attacks and physically piss on them. You want peace? Great, we all do, but until people like Saddam who condones specifically attacking civilians as a legit means of war are removed, there will be no peace. I say again, wake the fuck up. This guy would attack us in a heartbeat as soon as the opportunity presents itself. I for one will sleep better when he is gone. Don't give me anymore crap about killing innocents. That's a copout when there are no other reasons for not wanting a war. Innocents die all the time in war and there is not a whole lot you can do about it. I'd rather a few innocents die now than thousands when another of your Iraqui friends decides to suicide bomb us. So please, until you have something more intelligent to say about the wrongness of war, shut your fucking morally superior mouthes. Here's a shout out to those protecting my future: Good luck all and come home safe!

    by MrMonomaniac

Meric1- one good reason why its wrong. Firing missles at populated areas- killing innocent people. I'm sorry that being upset at this is insulting to the world... oh and is this the same world you refer to that the majority of the world don't support? Yes Saddam needs to be stopped. I have friends who have personally fled from his cruel regime during the first gulf war. Their family still remains in Baghdad and will probably not survive the week. stilldragons - please do not assume so much from a couple of sentences that I previously posted. I announced my sadness of innocent death and it seems to have offended so many people. I do not believe that a course of war at this time was appropriate. I respect the opinions of those that believe that it is. What i don't respect are people who feel that their way is the only way. And Meric1- I'm sorry but there will always be evil people threatening lives. Killing thousands of innocent people like all those in 9/11 will not stop that. "Iraqui friends" suicide bombing you? Not my friends... you don't know them!

I totally agree with your views on the war, and to add to it, I have this to say...which may get me booted. OK, so we are killing innocent children with our strike over there. Well, just look it this way, in 15-20 years, those same "children" may be members of a terrorist group and may kill our children. So, if by killing the innocent now will somehow stop a terrorist attack in the future...so be it. AND...may God bless those who lost their lives on 9/11/01 and their loved ones who live on without them. Lets never forget nor forgive that terrifying day.

I just have to ask, after not seeing it for awhile. What has happend to our lovely Charisma? Is she really pregnant, so they added this storyline to the show? She looked big. And not just in a body suit kind of way, but her FACE. Man, that short hair does not go well. I wonder, is she really pregnant? Or maybe she is sobering up from some amphatemine drug habbit? But, is it me or does she look "healthier". I'm not trying to bash, I'm really curious. She's still hot. I'd still hit that shit like a ton o' bricks! Eliza is even yummier.

    Connor spin-off

    by Blk Lightning

The new spin-off in the Buffy-verse could be one centered on Connor. With either Gunn, Willow, Dawn, Anya, and Andrew (if any of them don't get killed in the BTVS finale)as supporting cast. COME ON JOSS!!! Connor hasn't really experienced regular teenage life. So it would be interesting to see him deal with people his own age day to day.Don't take it back to Sunnydale High, of course. What about an inner city school or maybe a private school in Massachussetts, where their is a coven of witches for Willow to deal with. This would be totally different from Buffy and Smallville because Connor is dark. Like a young Batman. The show should open in mid season after Connor does some more Angel eps next season and then leave to do his own. PLEASE JOSS!!!! People holla back.

So the solution to global terrorism is to kill a few innocent 'sand niggers' in their beds because they are only gonna grow up and become terrorists anyway? Right. And maybe the families of those killed will be saying 'God Bless America, they saved our son/daughter from becoming a suicide bomber', and the world will be all red white and blue and smelling of roses. Thats a pretty misguided outlook.

    Get the facts straight

    by dogmachic77

In response to ROTHLAAR's post Madeline Albright was the SECRETARY OF STATE!!!! No woman has ever served in the capacity of Secretary of Defense. I think it is a good idea to re-air Angel, it helps us who did see and want to tape it. It does not matter what anyone thinks about the war now, American lives have been lost that is all that matters now! Instead of arguing about this and that, remember that Marines are dead today OVER THERE!

    Confusion

    by Bizzo

I must have been watching Angel when they gave the evidence that Iraq was involved in 9/11. I must have gotten them confused with the Saudis and Egyptians and French that actually did it. I know I feel a lot safer now that my attention is being drawn away from the bigger problems we are facing. I will now go live in ignorant bliss. Thank you.

    Well...

    by SonOfJorel

For those bitching about missing the last few minutes, be glad you don't live here. They (CNN) bumped in about 3 minutes into the show (just after Angelus recoiled from Faith because of her tainted blood) and were all done just after the end credits had rolled. Yup, missed almost the whole damn thing!

    WWIII????

    by JeffDaMan

Man, what are you smoking? All the other nations may be shaking their fingers at us, but they aren't going to do a damn thing to stop us. As for the killing of innocent civilians, yeah that definatly does suck, but the only one responsible for that is the gomer in charge of the country we are currently invading, end of story. Ever since the end of the first Gulf War he has been countless chances to live up to the agreements he agreed to, and he has pissed away each and every chance. He could have avoided all this, but he didn't. Well, times up, and he has run out of chances.

Don't you think I've planned for this? Those five minutes will never air on the East Coast! The timing of my minions' strike on the Academy Awards has been adjusted to ensure another pre-emption! All hope is gone! **** From online it devours!

    chastain86, support your shows!!!!

    by Demosthenes2

screwing upn and wb could kill the shows, after all. we don't know for certain if there'll be a new spinoff next year, and with angel on the bubble, these shows need real honest viewership to keep going, since they're also pretty expensive; their ratings have been better, after all (particularly since it seems a third of the fanbase is only watching this downloaded). i'm not trying to be preachy about legal copyright and whatnot; i'd just hate for the ratings to be dropping because of the downloads and thus cancelling our shows.

in the end, you can live without watching this ep

    by KatieScarlett

and to the person who suggested a connor spin-off? no! it would get cancelled within a week of airing! connor's an unpopular character, just an excuse for the token annoying teen-ager. it's true that joss whedon (along with marti noxon) is destroying both the buffyverse and angelverse with the crap writing that's been occurring in the past few months/seasons. nonetheless, no need to wish him ill with a doomed spin-off! i'm vexed that they're basing buffy's strength on cliched arthurian(and now monthy python! wtf?) legends! c'mon, buffy does not need to pull a weapon from a stone to show us she's strong, empowered, the chosen one. i'm still ambivalent as to how all of this will play because it might look terrible on paper, but not so bad in scene (& vice versa!). oh well, i've been a fan since buffy's inception (!), so i'll watch till the bitter end.

not that i like to get political. But all you that don't get that saddam is a threat better read up,study some history as well(we tried the he's not so bad thing with hitler and look what it progressed to). by the way i'm Canadian and if we didn't have the USA to bail out our ass and the rest of the world i wonder where we'd be. The rest of the world did nothing but watch in bosnia and thousands were slaughter until th US stepped in. I think peace and world unity would be great unfortunatley the reality is there are some really bad people out there that don't think like we do. THANK GOD THE USA AND ENGLAND ARE THERE TO PROTECT US

    "Orpheus" replay will have competition

    by Eternal Watcher

Anyone realize that the replay of the show is up against the Oscars in the East Coast..and maybe the West Coast, depending on how long this year's event lasts? Reminds me of four years ago, when the WB finally showed the second half of "Graduation Day" against the All-Star Game. Well, at least if you want to see "Orpheus", you'll only be missing some technical awards....but hopefully get back in time to see "Bowling for Columbine" win Best Documentary!

    England is not the UK!

    by edinburghlad

this is a quote from a previous post - "THANK GOD THE USA AND ENGLAND ARE THERE TO PROTECT US" Can I just educate some of you Americans - United Kingdon is invilved in this war, not "England" ie Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish troops are over there too. This sort of ignorance really pisses me off and is extremely typical unfortunatly. So far most UK deaths seem to have been caused by Americans in this war too, so the least the Americans can do is show some respect as to where these people are coming from. Uk people are so much more similar to US people than we are to Europeans. Its just unfortunate that it is impossible for UK people (not Irish or Northern irish) to actually get a green card to live there, but we are good enough to die alongside you in war. The world's fucked up! I do dissagre with the war though, as I think Saddam could have been removed in a way that requires less civilian casualties and with the backing of the UN - we've have 12 years, so why the immediate rush now when he has done US or UK no harm.Anyway back to Angel, I dont understand why that was interupted when you have so many news channels over there. Although I think Bush is an evil demon anyway so it's appropriate for him to appear on Angel - shame he can't get banished to an alternate dimension, or maybe be made to pay for all his sins against humanity - he most certainly is not a Christian! thank you.

    Angel has gotten fat

    by crush181

Has anyone noticed that for some reason in the last 2 years that everyone on Angel has gained about 10-15 pounds? Cordy Angel Wesley Gunn Lilah Lorne. Watch an episode from Season 2 and compare to Season 4. They all seem fatter in the facial area.
