Pixar's FINDING NEMO and THE INCREDIBLES!!!
Hey folks, Harry here... Last night in Las Vegas at the fabulous ShoWest, they screened a nearly finished FINDING NEMO for exhibitors, we've yet to receive a full report on the event, but I have learned that when FINDING NEMO debuts this summer in theaters everywhere, it will be accompanied with the most anticipated (by me) trailer of the year. That's right, Brad Bird's Pixar Debut... THE INCREDIBLES will have its trailer attached to the front of FINDING NEMO. This mysterious film about a nuclear family unite all with Super Powers has been an "incredibly" well guarded secret! It will be so nice to see Brad Bird given the treatment he deserves at Pixar, especially after the 2x4 treatment that Warner Bros. gave him during the release of THE IRON GIANT. At least it has become a classic in homes! Here's an oh to brief snippet about FINDING NEMO from last night's screening, hopefully we'll be hearing more today!
saw finding nemo this evening.
three quick things to say before i hit the hay:
1. This may be the first pixar movie to get a pg rating (probably due the shark chase scene)
2. steve jobs was on hand to talk about the flick, followed by john lassiter, and then the director (name forgotten)
3. this is better movie than expected. its not finished, as evidenced by the fishing boat scene toward the end, but what we saw was almost as good as done. there were no songs, hard to imagine where they'll be slotted in.
4. opening the evening with robert goulet and the disney dancers doing 'you got a friend in me' was priceless. oops, thats four things.
5. while we're going beyond three, bruce the 12 step shark stole the show the brief period he was on - remember, 'fish are friends, not food.'
thats all i have for now, i'll compile a better review tomorrow if you're interested.
if you use any of this, just call me s.h.a.d.o

Ok. I am dreading this film. The humor has devolved into the kind of smarmy self-referential humor that has makes up 90% of kids' programming. What made Toy Story and Toy Story 2 classics was the sincerity behind the characters, their motivations, and their humor. It was subtle, pleasant, and definitely not overly sarcastic. That is what hampered Monsters Inc. (At least no Billy at the Oscars this year). The last thing I would ever pay to see is Ellen Degeneres playing a whiny retarded fish and Albert Brooks whining about how retarded Degeneres is. This whole project really grates my balls. But does sincerity ever pay off without a gimmick? Iron Giant didn't. Neither did Lilo and Stitch. I pray Pixar gets back on track after this pile of shit.

What is it with people on this site lately? You're going to judge the quality of a movie on a two-minute (if that) trailer that, quite frankly, doesn't even show much of the finished product. Pixar have made 4 movies so far that have been among the finest animated movies EVER (and anyone who doesn't think "Monster's Inc" was great is going to have to give me a reason why, other than 'I don't like Billy Crystal'). I see no reason to start panicking that they've "lost it" or that Finding Nemo is going to be anything other than really, really good.

Wasn't he in Close Encounters as well?

has more imagination on it's pinky toe than all of Hollywood combined

God, that looks like a cheesefest. But the fact that it's CG will naturally draw many people to see it makes me happy that at least Brad Bird will get the box office he deserves. I loved The Iron Giant, and was shocked by its failure. Kinda like Titan A.E....

It still looks like mushy crap, the kind of movie I hate coming out of Disney, let alone Pixar...

This movie feels more like Atlantis than the other Pixar films, a beautifully rendered though not necessarily very funny story that's just a bit too treacly and sweet. We'll see, but so far, Albert Brooks is no Billy Crystal and John Goodman.

Except his name is Brad Byrd, and he's a news anchor on my local News25 station.
And I don't know him. -
Pixar is moving in a entirely new direction, and this will be far more "line crossing" than their other efforts. WE'll be pleasantly surprised, no doubt.

Hey guys its General George here at FOE Headquarters. I didnt think Bruce Campbell was in Jaws. I thought that was someone else. And who is he in Close Encounters? cameroncooke561@msn.com

... and I'm with "Bill Brasky" (great nom de plume) when it comes to "Monsters Inc."-- it was a true masterpiece, and will probably be remembered far longer than most "Best Film" Oscar nominated movies from the last decade, and probably even longer than several "winners". All of Pixar's features thus far stand up to multiple viewings, which is more than can be said of the great-but-rapidly-dated-and-old "Shrek" or the "fun-to-watch--ONCE" "Emperor's New Groove".

"Bruce" was the name given by the crew to the mechanical shark in "Jaws." I believe it's actually an acronym for "Beast Raging Under Calm Exterior," a reference, presumably, to the device's laughable unreliability during shooting. It's a cute touch by the Pixar folks, but obscure as a motherfucker.
-
I wouldn't mind seeing them produce a more adult-oriented offering...
-
A PG rating for a chase scene involving a shark? They're talking fish for fuck's sake. We all know it's make believe. When did we all become a bunch of pansies?

Give it a rest. Just because you may think Pixar hasn't topped Toy Story doesn't make the rest of their films shit. MI will be an all-time classic.
