Images from LOONEY TUNES: BACK IN ACTION!
Hey folks, Harry here with 3 images I was sent from Joe Dante's LOONEY TUNES: BACK IN ACTION! Personally, I don't know what to think about the stills... The shading on Daffy and Bugs happens to be quite gorgeous. I like the designs for them, but at another level... Brendan Frasier just looks goofy as all hell. I hope to God this movie ends up fun. I have faith in Joe Dante, but at the same time I have no faith in Warner Brothers. So we'll cross our fingers on this. If nothing else, I'll be waiting for the trailer, that'll be where we really begin to get a clue whether or not it is good.

"Do one for them, do one for you." Sometimes I wish Brendan Fraser would stick to the "good" films like Quiet American, because seeing him in this is one more reminder of some of his weaker fare. It's a bit refreshing to see that they didn't try to bring in a Michael Jordan-level superstar, going with Fraser and Jenna Elfman. But maybe it's because no one else wanted to do it. I'm equally concerned with anything from Warner Bros, and let's face it, as great as Joe Dante has been in the past, this ain't gonna be another Roger Rabbit. At least it can't be worse than Space Jam.

Jenna Elfmann and Brendan Frasier attached to a completely lame brained attempt at film comedy?
What is this...some sort of Bizarro World? -

In all the years I have been a fan of film / cinema / movies / entertainment there has been one actor far above the rest. It is not O'Toole. It is not Brando. It is not Olivier. It is not Nicholson. IT IS DAFFY DUCK!!!!! FOR DAFFY IS NOT JUST AN ACTOR, BUT ONE THAT CAN CARRY AN ENTIRE FILM ALL BY HIMSELF!!!! And I am damn happy that he is finally getting the opportunity to show his acting chops again like he did in things like "Duck Amuck"...pure genius......And thus, I have spoken! - - - George, The 7th Chicken!!!!

You know, who really cares about a cartoon/ live action movie beyond "Who framed Rofer Rabbit?"? I'd be excited about this if I were 5 years old, but then, I ate my own boogers when i was 5.

It's highly likely that these are temp drawings used only for promotional purposes. They did the same thing for Roger Rabbit in the months before it was completed, that's why the animated characters look so flat and boring.
Otherwise Rocky & Bullwinkle blows this away. -

Are the Stanton twins playing the Warner Brothers in this movie?
by psyclops
No wonder the new SUPERMAN can't get off the ground... there's half a brain between the both of them. HAHAHAHAHAH... ehem.... Just kidding! Much love for the Stanton duo, they do good work.

STILL directing! Geez, the guy thinks he's been able to do looney tunes since his Twilight Zone: The Movie days. He couldn't do it then, and he can't do it now!
-
Oh, hell's Yeah, I'm so there....
-
C'mon! I would kill to go another round with Gizmo and the gang (maybe not kill... but I'd definitely beat somebody over the head with a whiffle bat), and with today's advanced special effects you could make them do things that were impossible in 1984 (or 1990 for that matter). Whaddya say Joe? Warners? Anyone with the power to unleash the Mogwai? Just a thought.
-
Why don't you shoot the Superman movie live action, with an ANIMATED Man of Steel??? It'd make me happier than seeing one of your potential fem-boys in the tights.

"Hey guys, have I got a script for you! Remember Roger Rabbit? Well, I've got another Roger Rabbit right here, boys. Thats right, think of the marketing!"
Earth to Hollywood, WB stores are sinking faster than a Das Boot action sequence. And I dont think there's a big demand for Brandon Frazer action figures, considering he's a cardboard cut-out in real life. Did casting agencies not see what he did to The Mummy and Mummy Returns? Those movies could have been the new Indiana Jones were it not for the fact that they cast Encino Man as Indiana Jones. He's a Jerry Lewis impression with wheels.
You watch: He will be on Celebrity Survivor within three years. -
What we need is a Gremlins prequel with fighter pilots in WWII! I'd pay to see that. sk
-
Because Gremlins 2 and Small Soldiers had some very witty, self referential comic moments in each of them. That's what Looney Tunes is based in. What they need to do is hire the writers that worked on Tiny Toons, Animaniacs and Freakazoid to tweak this bad boy if need be, because although Space Jam had its moments, there wasn't enough of that cynical humor in there for me.

If someone invented crap flavored crackers, they might taste how these pictures look. I believe this concept was done before and better by "The Simpsons" when Homer entered the 3-D world. A pox on the eyes of anyone who milks my childhood memories for shody franchise fodder!!

by cinemajerk
Put the old classic cartoons in front of the crappy movies along with the previews. Otherwise they are just anally raping the memory of the great Chuck Jones with this Space Jam Shit fest.
-
Unfortunatly WB has always wasted great characters in the movies. All of the Animated Looney Tunes Movies from the '70's such as The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie and the Daffy Duck Fantasy Island thing ruined the original cartoons with terrible bridges between them. Space Jam sucked, this will too.
-
Noel Blanc didnt make the cut back in the late 8os. Joe Alaskey has been doing Daffy Duck since Tiny Toons, and he also did Yosemite Sam in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Billy West certainly has the voice range for Bugs Bunny, but let's face it, neither of them are Mel Blanc. Bugs Bunny sounded neutered in Space Jam.
WFRR holds up pretty well in terms of special effects and as a movie after 15 years though.
-
And that's still not saying much. Why not just make a full-length cartoon? Why bring people into it? I guess that's to appease the adults in the audience. BTW- Am I the only one who thought Roger Rabbit was overrated? It was impressive in 1988, but just doesn't hold up to repeated viewings.

"The Circus - Circus is what the whole hep world would be doing on Saturday night if the Nazis had won the war. This is the Sixth Reich. The ground floor is full of gambling tables, like all the other casinos . . . but the place is about four stories high, in the style of a circus tent, and all manner of strange County - Fair/Polish Carnival madness is going on up in this space. Right above the gambling tables the Forty Flying Carazito Brothers are doing a high - wire trapeze act, along with four muzzled Wolverines and the Six Nymphet Sisters from San Diego . . . so you

The two or three Roger Rabbit & Baby Herman shorts that ran before WB movies were often funnier and more entertaining than the crap WB's been putting out lately. As far as "Back In Action" goes...sigh...Will Bugs and Daffy be animated in a far too spongy, elastic, frenetic style like in Space Jam? Will they make oh-so clever forced pop culture references, instead of the cool, easy parodies of the original shorts? Will Jenna Elfman get her career back? *** rev_skarecroe: I like your idea for a Gremlins prequel. But I always wondered what would happen if one of the Evil Mogwai force-fed Gizmo. What kind of Gremlin would he become? And could he be changed back? And will Hulk Hogan do a cameo as another disgruntled audience member?
-
Joe Dante and bad movie don't go together. This movie can't possibly be bad. Dante has never made a bad film. I don't think he's capable of it.
-
You have GOT to be freaking kidding me. This is garbage. Plain and simple. Seems like everything I see and hear these days is a remake of something else or just an expansion of an idea that somebody else all ready had. How can anyone think that this movie is going to be good? You aren't going to PAY MONEY to see it, are you? Its just a bastardization of your childhood. Yep - they put real people in it draw in those of us who grew up on Looney Toons and have now reached some semblance of adulthood.
-
Has anyone noticed that for the past 10 years or so, this guy's career has consisted of either playing alongside cartoon characters (Monkeybone, Mummy), or playing a cartoon character himself (Sinbad, Dudley Do-Right, George of the Jungle). Which would all be fine if he performed them well. Then there's the remaining drivel, such as Encino Man, Airheads, Bedazzled, etc. What a shame events turned out this way for someone who started his career on the powerful performance in School Ties.
-
I rediscovered Roger Rabbit recently and was amazed by how tightly constructed the entire film is. It is a brilliant example of excellent screenwriting and pacing-perfect execution. Thank the powers that be that they never made a sequel. (Does anybody else here find it funny that people complain on one hand that Hollywood is doing crappy sequels instead of orginal concepts, while on the other they beg for sequels to their favorite cult films? Yeah, that's what I thought.)
-
Brendan does do good movies, and I think that even to his wackier roles he brings some refinement and talent. He's a superb actor, and some movies would really suck if he wasn't in them. If I might add that he's the one picking them so he must have seen something that made him want to do it, so leave him be.

by noriko takaya
Just make a frickin' CARTOON! Just do a full-length animated Loony Tunes flick--hell, *I'd* watch it! I'd pay cash money for that shit in a heartbeat! Disney should do the same, just hire the best talent they can get their hands on and make a full-length all out BALLS TO THE WALL MICKEY MOUSE CARTOON! Ditto for Donald and Goofy and whathave you! Forget about this live action/animation garbage--Space Jam was OK but it wasn't ALL that and a bag of chips! Gimmie TOOOOOON, GODDAMMIT!! No wonder we're gettin' our clocks cleaned by Japan and now, with Wonderful days, by friggin' Korea!! O.K., I'll shut up now. BUT I CAN'T, I'M ON CAFEENEEEE!! AND LISTENING TO HENDRIX!!! "You're just like CROSSTOWN TRAFFIC
So hard to get through you CROSSTOWN TRAFFIC
I don't need to run over you CROSSTOWN TRAFFIC
All you do is slow me down
But I'm tryin' to get on the other side of town." FUCK YEAH!! Damn, I be more fuckeded up than George, the 6th Chicken! Toppu o Nerae!! Wooooo!!! -
any of you doubters out there might want to look back at a movie from a few years back that did brought in some pretty good numbers, it was called "Who Framed Roger Rabbit". It did pretty well and in that same thought "Looney Toons" has the same D.P. Dean Cundey.
-
Rocky and Bullwinkle kicked ass, well at least I'd do the cute preppy blonde...
-
It may have looked good on paper and in the pitch, but from paper to screen something went wrong. I even heard that Warners was planning on giving Lola Bunny a breast reduction. What?!?!?!
-
So I send Harry word that the official Cowboy Bebop Knockin on Heaven's Door page is up with the trailer for the US version.. not a mention, yet shit like this NO ONE cares about is posted? Come on now, JFC.
-
I'm sure this is the target audience of this movie. Millions of rugrats still love Bugs, Daffy and Tweety.
If WB is true to the cartoon characters, it'll make a lot of money. It doesn't matter who the real actors in the movie are. -
Harry, Wanna hear something HILARIOUS!? 3 months ago, my surgeon told me I have 2-3 years to live...I have severe deteriorating scoliosis which will cause my upper torsoe to virtually cave in on itself until I have congestive heart failure and die. Now, WHY AM I TELLING YOU THIS????? I LOVE MOVIES AND I LOVE FREEDOM. I'm sick of people like you and, frankly, don't have time to argue with people the likes of you. I am tired of being banned (5 times ao far) from your website for saying things that do nothing more than criticize you humorously. I use to love this site because of you all being so anti-establishment/big-studio. But now, your CONSTANT CENSORSHIP OF FREE SPEECH MAKES ME SICK... Harry, prove to me you dont do this unnecessarily... I will keep opening new accounts and posting this message until you address this issue. I am not the only person you do this to.
-
I'd rather have seen Joe Dante give the starring role to his (and Roger Corman's) regular character actor, Dick Miller. I'm not a Brendan Frasier fan. Maybe it's the lousy films he's been in, maybe it's his goofy expression. Joe Dante is the only reason that I give this film any credibility and even then I'm not sold.

"Why don't you shoot the Superman movie live action, with an ANIMATED Man of Steel??? It'd make me happier than seeing one of your potential fem-boys in the tights."
FYI, That's how they did the flying sequences in the late 1940's Kirk Alyn Superman serials. I thought it looked pretty cool myself.
