If he can disguise himself so well in this thing that he's totally unrecognizable, he's got better acting chops than we thought.

Feb. 27, 2003, 6:20 p.m. CST
I'd be interested in Rodriguez directing Stallone in a DC or Marvel film! Any well known character would do outside of the ones already done. Stallone as Katar Hol aka "Hawkman" would be awesome! Not really interested in him being the Punisher or Nick Fury or anyone else with a gun. I'd like to see him as a superhero ... like Hawkman.
Feb. 27, 2003, 7:10 p.m. CST
Mayby it's the cynic in me but this all sounds too good to be true. The technology that is, not Stallone

Yeah, I have to agree that I would love to read something more in depth on 3d cameras. I'm a nerd at heart. You should pursue that, Harry.

What the hell is Mirimax doing with Rambo IV anyway? Come on Harvey and Bob, let's make this fucker. Stallones probably got five good years left, if that. Does anyone know if they already have a script? I can picture the opening credits now: "This film is dedicated in loving memory to Richard Crenna. Then the movie opens with John J. himself at Colonel Trautman's funeral... where the script goes from there I'm going to need to ponder, but it's about Rambo carrying on Trautman's legacy. Which is of course reminding American Men that they still have balls. Holla if ya here me. Bobby B. out--

I never thought there would be any truth to that parody. Looks like we're heading in that direction. The pushed it with Rocky 4. Got away with it. COMPLETELY RUINED the Rocky "saga" with that shit Rocky 5. Idiotic Don King characters and that white street kid. Now he wants to put in a "gangsta" boxer? Come on already. The Rocky story died with Apollo Creed. Don't ruin it anymore.

If I remember correctly, Viggo only took the role of Aragorn because his son urged him to do it...and as we all know, he is the perfect Aragorn.

With all that's happened to Stallone in the past 2 years with films, it's good to see him attach himself to an experienced director and a proof winning franchise. I have waited for years for Sly to play the bad guy and finally he accepts a childrens movie to be his canvas. I think Stallone fans are a little confused of the decision on Spy Kids 3 but it's really a good move right now. I think we all would of prefered a thriller or something but this will do just fine. With Shade right behind it coming, Sly needs his next public appearance to be a strong one, and Spy Kids 3 will provide that. Shade sounds great, but I hope they find a distributer soon. Miramax would be a great pick up for the film. In the end Stallone has ran into some serious bad luck these days but he's got the chops to be doing better stuff. I hope Stallone starts taking smaller more daring roles. He's a better character actor then most people give him credit for. His choices at times seem to get the better of him. Wake up Sly, it's not too late...

Can somebody please explain why Ricardo Montalban really is confined to a wheelchair? I thought he was just acting for the Spy Kids 2 role, apparently not. Poor guy.

I've been a fan of this guy for a long...long time...and to read this report was a real treat. Thanks Harry!.........To see that stallone is going to go the character route is like music to my ears....i absolutely loved him in copland..i thought that was one of the best performances i've seen in years....everyone is going on and on about some actors like harrison and denzel being cast against type, and how great they came off as bad guys...but stallone was the one that pulled that off even better..by being cast as the big softy...the big nice guy that no one thinks has any guts...it was beautiful.....god..to see him again in movies like that would be amazing....oh...and for the record..the footsie comment was about his movie 'Victory' with michael cain and pele (which of course you fellow aicn'rs will allready know..) anyhow...great work harry....

Stallone is a VERY smart man saying he only wants to work with the BEST from now on. Tarantino, Spielberg, Cameron ect. should all use Sly in one of their movies. Rodriguez will show us a Sly we have never seen before!

What the heck is that supposed to mean? There's several ways to go: either liberalism's current trend toward blatant treason, or the alleged persecution of Muslims and Arabs in this country. Could a lib take time to clear this up? I've got some nice anti-schizophrenia meds for ya, to make those nasty conspiracies go all away.

Whenever talk of Harrison Ford doing another Indy, or Stallone doing another Rocky or Rambo comes up there's always a backlash. People saying they're too old to play those roles anymore etc etc. Well bullshit. The ageing of characters in film, especially beloved characters hasn't been explored that much apart from a few exceptions. Revisiting these characters on film, acknowledging the fact that they are older has a lot of potential for good storytelling. Why should characters need to be perpetually youthful like Bond? One of the best Batman stories is The Dark Knight Returns, an older Batman complete with all the aches and pains that come with age. I for one would happily go and see Rocky 6 or Rambo 4. I think Stallone has the sense to make sure the story is right, and not just repeat what has gone before.

No way. That would stink up the screen so badly it isn't even funny. If you're gonna have Nick Fury in a flick, go for the Ultimate Fury and cast Samuel L. Jackson. You KNOW that would rock. Stallone might have been good as the Punisher fifteen years ago, but now he's too old for this shit. The memory of the big steaming turd he took all over Judge Dredd, one of the best comic book characters there is, should dissuade anyone from putting him another comic book film.

i heard a story that Michael Findlay director of "Snuff" and various other low budget schlock had invented a 3D camera back in the other 80's and the prototype was destroyed in the Helicopter crash that killed him. I think it was on top of the Pan Am building that the crash happened. So does anyone else know more details on this or am i the biggest movie trivia nerd in the world.

It was called Cobra. Also I think he may be a bit old for Hal Jordan, Maybe Alan Scott? The Golden Age Green Lantern now known as Sentinel. Or just make a Golden-Age JSA movie. Think of all the cool costumes there. Maybe base it on the Golden Age, that Elseworlds Project DC Did a while back.

I agree about the Punisher idea: he was a Nam vet, so unless Movie Makers want to use another war for his background <Gulf? BORING!> then Sly is the PERFECT age. Younger actors wouldn't cut it, and could'nt have been in The Nam! <If you know what I mean>

First off, I had some serious doubts over whether Stallone could act as well. But has anyone seen that episode of SNL he did five or six years ago where he played that geek who used to work in an Orange Julius and now worked in a computer store? It was just awesome. One little bit became my favorite Stallone moment of them all. Not that Rambo, Rocky, Rocky 2...and maybe Demolition Man weren't so bad... And as for Harry going on and on, I don't mind at all. Shit, I read his damn book twice, so...
Feb. 28, 2003, 9:45 a.m. CST
first, this movie will suck it big time. we all know it. let's move on. second, harry doesn't review films of people he is friends with, although he has no problem providing free "hype" (note: this rule doesn't apply to his "brother" who made blade II or the hundreds of other people he claims as friends: QT, josh hartnett, jj abrahms, etc) three, he takes his dad on these trips, which says something, im sure. four, he has no problem having stars sign memorabilia when he is on a "journalistic" assignment. of course, he used to sell memorabilia and might still. which makes one wonder. fifth, moriarty is a superior writer. but we already knew that.

Harry, weren't you the least bit embarrassed meeting Sly when you look like you do? A disgusting, fat mess of a human being. One can only guess what Mr. Stallone thought of your grotesque appearance. You are a big fat hillbilly sloth; who has to grow a disgusting pubic-like beard to cover your numerous chins. You are disturbing to look at. On film, TV, cartoon, whatever...you are the epitome of obesity and laziness. You would think after all the attention you have gotten, you would at try and lose some blubber and take care of your appearance. But no, not you. This site sucks, its a shadow of its former self. Its all about you. No one cares about you, they care about movies, and movie news...which is why people have moved on to better sites for info. Do us all a favor and drop dead already.

I can usually enjoy good satire no matter how I feel about the target. But this isnt intelligent, isnt new and just isnt good. Actually, it's so bad that it works against what you're trying to make it do. You just look stupid and make us think that he probably did he have reason enough to ban you. Oh and this 3d camera stuff sounds amazing, but I dont care what anybody says part 3 is definately pushing it a bit. RR should've definately rested the franchise a bit and gained all of his street cred back with ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO before setting off on such an ambitious project that has the potential to backfire on them and ground any future use of such cool technology.

Nighthawks is one of Stallone's best films. I just got the dvd and although it's full frame, I'm still captivated by it. Stallone and Billy Dee Williams are the epitome of BadAss Motherfuckers. I'm amazed by how many people have no idea what I'm talking about when I bring it up. Great film, very underrated. Oh and by the way, Victory is a good film, not a great film.

Stallone was brilliant in Rocky I & II, and he blew me away in Copland, but so much of his stuff has been so bad that his name is no longer enough to get me in the theater. As Samuel L. Jackson proved in XxX, the right actor can kick ass in a small supporting role. Go for quality, Sly, and show us what you're really worth.
March 24, 2003, 7:14 p.m. CST
I think that Sylvester Stallone is the best thing since ever. I have almost everyone of his movies and I think that he has this thing about him that no one else could touch. He is the most handsom actor of all time.
