Wanna Know What That Music Was In The KILL BILL Trailer'!

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

I enjoy browsing the CHUD message boards as I sit here, chained to the computer these days. It’s an oasis of film freaks and good discussions, and from time to time, someone pops up with something I haven’t seen anywhere else.

For example, one of the readers there finally posted a link that leads to the entire song that was used in the KILL BILL trailer, as well as the name of the person who wrote and recorded it. Seems that it’s from the soundtrack of a film called SHIN JINGI NAKI TATAKAI, or NEW BATTLE WITHOUT HONOR/DUTY, which was a remake of a ‘70s Yakuza film. The composer of the track, Hotei Tomayasu, was also in the film. Just knowing this, I feel so much better now. Hallelujah. I’ve gotten tons of mail about this since the trailer came out, and I had no idea what to tell anyone. I wasn’t sure if this was part of the film’s score or if it was a song Quentin found. Now that I know, I just need to figure out what the track title is and see if I can find it on CD. Until then, this MP3 version will do just fine.

Click here for information about Hotei Tomayasu!!

Click here for the original message board thread that steered me towards these links!!

Thanks to “Dragon Ma” for originally posting this info. It’s been driving many of us crazy for a while. Now we can just drive ourselves crazy by playing the song over and over and over and over...

"Moriarty" out.

It's track 2 on the soundtrack. You can still get the soundtrack from CD Japan, but it's a little tricky to get it to pop up sometimes in a search. I dropped the "shin" from the title and just searched "JINGI NAKI TATAKAI" under song titles and found it. Actually I just did another search on it and could not find it once again. Perhaps I have the last copy in the world. Anyway, the theme with the guitar is repeated throughout the soundtrack, and it's incredible. I believe Hotei also does a live version of it on his "Rock The Future" CDs, if that helps finding an actual copy. Probably my favourite track is 12, where he just completely rocks out with the theme. Quinten uses an edit of track 2 for what you see in the trailer, so you're missing a lot of music, and it's worth buying if you ever come across it.

I believe he did some of the music for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas(it's on the soundtrack), mainly the druggy/trippy stuff but also the Hendrix-esque American national anthem.

Fucking retarded trailer, with easily the worst CG I've ever seen in a movie trailer at the very beginning with that plane fly-over. At least the music wasn't bad. Thanks for the link. Now I don't have to put up with Quentin should've-stayed-at-Blockbuster Tarantino.

    ordered the cd

    by Insane Tiki

that song is so damn cool. I ordered the cd and hopefully it'll come soon... site said it may be back-ordered. I'm kinda disappointed that the music isn't actually from KILL BILL, as I was hoping that was the sound of the movie... I REALLY hope Lars Ulrich isn't doing the music, as someone posted before. Well, that's my two cents.

    by hoja67

The "I'm an Outlaw..." song is called Lapdance by the NERDS. It was also played in the closing credits of Swordfish. Download away! hoja67 PS Scratch my back. Does anyone know the name of the song they played in the trailer for Training Day (it was also played near the end of the movie when DW and EH are walking into the Latino gang's home)
