Published at:  Jan 13, 2003 11:13:32 PM CST

Hey folks, Harry here... Right now... this is the move I'm dying to see... The cast for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN is impeccable... I mean... seeing Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom being dashing and debonair... well it's enough to give a gal thigh cramps and flow problems. Meanwhile... Jonathan Pryce and Geoffrey Rush on board... well... With Gore Verbinski directing - especially after his wonderful turn on THE RING... and now everybody has been asking what possible reason the planet earth would be interested in a Pirate movie when the last several have sucked the barnacles off an anchor... Well... LOOKSEE!

Harry here again... Now... see, it isn't just about the gals going googily for Depp and Bloom... Depp & Bloom - that should be a Dildo factory brand name... Anyways... NOW YOU WANT TO SEE THE MOVIE!!! Doesn't that just look... what was it that Billy Crystal used to say? Hmmmm.... MAAAAHHHHHHHHVVVVV UUUUHHHH LUSSSSSSSS..... Yeah... That's the word. Now clean your drawers and suck a lime!

    by saluki

This cast is great (the audience cheered when they saw Depp's name!) and the director is worthwhile. The concept art is fun. However, I want to see some actual footage. Get an idea of the plot and more. Then I can make a more concise view.

What the hell is so exciting about this? Looks like they hired someone who used to spray-paint hot-rod t-shirts on the boardwalk in New Jersey to create these things. This is a movie?!?!

But I want this movie to kick @ss, really I do because it's got an amazing cast and is being based on my 2nd fave Disney ride. It's off to a good start, here's hoping it lands on it's feet.

there ain't never been a good pirate movie, and more importantly there's never been a successful pirate movie. gore verbinski IS the equivalent of the kustom van airbrush artist to whom the revenator alludes. I guess there's a slight chance this will be as good as it should be...let's hope.

I can't agree with "never." Two Errol Flynn movies leap to mind--Captain Blood and The Sea Hawk. Both were huge financial successes, and both are fun and well-done pirate movies (though you have to, admittedly, like older films). But I'll agree that there hasn't been in the past few decades.

Yes Harry we're all very proud of you for using your personal website to tell the world you have latent homosexual desires. Given your delayed puberty it's only natural that these repressed desires should come out now. However you must understand that NOBODY HERE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL SEX LIFE. Nor do we care about your crush on Orlando Bloom. Nor do we care about your opinion of Guillermo del Toro's ability to perform cunnilingus on an audience. Just stick to the facts about cool movies please.

You know what really ticks me off? There IS a new trailer...

    by cooldan989

...and I told Harry about it weeks ago that the link was http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/piratesofthecaribbean.html, but he never posted it, even when he posts links to the stupidest trailers on a regular basis. So I'm thinking, OK, that's fine, maybe he's just too busy to post some stuff, but now Harry comes proclaiming Pirates of the Caribbean PICTURES. I mean, I like pictures as much as the next guy, but trailers should definetley have priority. When I emailed Harry about the trailer I made it clear in the email subject line I had the link to the trailer, so unless Harry doesn't check his email at all or can't read subject lines, I think it's more than a little arrogant to hold out on the fans like this, and instead post PICTURES, thinking they won't know the difference. Hire someone to handle your email, Harry, so you won't come off so arrogantly. Anyway, as I was saying in the email, this trailer is very, very cool and I can't wait to see this movie! With names like Gore Verbinski and Jerry Bruckheimer attached, this should be real good! Again, the link is at http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/piratesofthecaribbean.html. There, you all now know about the trailer, no thanks to Harry, who I'm sorry to say has been holding out on us all.

The Ring is far from being a "wonderful turn", buddy, I hate to remind you. It's not really Gore's fault - the material is simply lacking in every way. Both versions.

  • then why not either read some other web sight about whatever other shit it is you enjoy, or just move on to something else when this one doesn't interest you. I mean i don't go onto your fuckin dr. who chat room and tell you "it's only some british guy with a scarf". This is the type of business that Harry enjoys, obviously. And you don't, so you follow him around and call him gay. By the way, this is the year 2003 now, women are allowed to vote, there is only one type of water fountain and if you still freak out because two guys are holding hands, you're an asshole.

    Bathroom Humor

    by eraser_x

I sure hope that Harry never criticizes (has criticized) mere "bathroom humor" in a movie. Because Harry's inane fixation on sex and body fluids is similarly remarkable. I suppose Harry is being admirable in the sense that he's not bothering to hide his delayed process, familiar perhaps to nine-year-olds, of resolving his discomfort with all that relates to sex. On the other hand, sometimes a little modesty is not for protecting the person being modest but is more for protecting his audience from the irrelevant.

    by twilightspider

This could actually be a pretty cool movie. The script isn't bad, they actually gave it a story which is fun... if they can just make in tongue-in-cheek enough without getting into stupidity, it'll rock. And Harry, the script calls for a lot of Orlando bare-chested scenes, so have your towels and kleenex ready!

    Pirates will rule

    by blackbeard

Read the comments, read the current shooting script. I think Disney has a huge hit on it's hands. There is a story, the action described is fantastic and original and there's actually some humor to make the show that much more enjoyable. Disney may have finally done something right for a change (they even managed to work the song from the ride into the film in a semi-non-cheesy way). "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates' life for me"!

Man, I have to go check out who the DP is on this project. And hope they do a good job here. Cuz this conceptual art is pretty sweet. And if Verbinski has a better script here than he did with The Ring, then we're in for a real treat.
