    commercial clues...

    by annakin3

if you pay close attention to the commercials, we know that the first person voted off is one of the guys (brian or clay). there are two tribal council scenes in the commercial for tonight's finale. one is a closeup of the two women and brian. the other is a closeup of the two women (in different clothes) and clay. thus, one of these is the first tribal council and the other is the second tribal council. either that, or they're screwing with our heads. we'll know soon enough...

    Here's a Clue

    by thorn ms

My money is on Brian. Why? Well, you know this is all history that we're seeing tapes of things already happened. They're all home now watching this on TV. In the news two days ago, Brian's wife was issued a restraining order after punching Brian in the face, and is ordered to stay away from Brian and their house. Now, I don't know about you, but that smells to me like Brian came into some money, and they had a fight, and he's got the money and the wife is out. Maybe its just me, but if he came back with just the consolation prize, its smooch smooch and I missed you, but when you got a million in your hand, fights are usually about money aren't they? I take this as an indicator that Brian won. They can get their signatures on agreements to keep their trap shut until the final show airs, but they can't shut the public records up when the police are involved.

  • ...but I wish I actually respected JUST ONE of these people. Jan is a puppet with mind of her own. Clay and Brian are both so damned cocky. Not to mention the fact that they get very upset when someone plays the game THE SAME WAY THEY DO. Helen is now gone (as of 8:45). And she had the balls to bitch about being lied to by Brian. If you're gonna lie and deceive in this game, don't bitch about it. Accept it. Man, why am I watching this? I need help. --d

    by dorfer

I've now wasted over an hour of my life. This "contest" could have been figured two weeks ago. Jan just collapsed at the challenge and Clay, knowing that his compadre would not vote him out, gave up promptly after. Any fool knows that if Jan makes it to the final two, she $1M richer. Nobody likes those two guys. So, yay. --d

    by delwin

Brian played it right. Why do people get so emotional about backstabbing and stuff. Like Helen wouldn't have voted Brian out if it came down to it. She admitted several times she was playing both sides of the fence. She was just pissed that Brian got her first. Its a game, with one winner, not two, one. Brian played it right and he won and he deserved it. I almost puked because for about 10 minutes I thought Clay was going to win, that lazy ass.

    by bobby bowfinger

Don't know what Jan was thinking when she voted off Helen. Surely she realized that she would be the next to go (barring a victory in the immunity challenge). She and Helen should've voted for Clay and hoped they came out on top in however the tie was broken. If they won - it would've ensured that at least one of them would have made it to the final two. Since even Clay only lost to Brian by 1 vote, you figure that Helen or Jan could have easily walked away with the million.

Anyway, as for the two that did make it to the final vote - didn't really like either of them (sort of was hoping Helen would win). Brian certainly deserved the money more than Clay. He certainly played the game well - after the other tribe was all voted off he was in complete control of the situation.

    by riskebiz

I feared this would be a repeat of Survivor Africa where the old lady miraculously gets in the final 2 after getting carried the whole way. Jan had no business being there and I'm glad it went to Brian and Clay. I'm glad Brian didn't do a Colby and give away the million to the old lady. The show favors little old ladies below the radar. Brian played it the best and deserved it. He and Clay should have started getting voted out weeks ago and the rest are idiots for playing Brian's game. He was right to get rid of Helen. Helen would have taken it all if she got in the final 3. I liked her, but she would have won. Glad she realized that and voted for Brian. Good for him. Oh, and there's always someone in the jury like Penny who decides it's all about them.

Survivor and the Racism Double Standard

    by the surgeon

OK, this upset me so much that I had to post about it.

Last night when the jury was grilling the survivors, Ted came out and called Clay a "redneck hillbilly hick" and a racist... and THEN proceeded to ask him how he would define a racist...

I'll define a racist for you Ted (actually a bigot, but you apparently dont know the definition of racism either)

A racist/bigot is someone who sees a white male from the south and assumes they are a REDNECK HILLBILLY HICK RACIST.

And the only reason Ted got away with that is because of the Racism Double Standard. People (like Ted) who think that racism only applies to black people piss me off. It just as racist (bigoted) for him to say that about Clay as it would be for Clay to call him the "N" word.

    What a big dumb schmuck..

And I'm pissed off that Clay didnt stand up for himself and call the idiot out. I would have...

Probst/ Thorn MS & The Surgeon

    by motutoo

PROBST - First, I usually can't make it through 5 min of those aftershows- they suck hard. But Probst was out there slicin and dicin' like he was a cook at a big barbeque grill, jabbing and turning over the meat- "don't think I forgot about you up there! -hah!" Did you hear that one girl- he asked her about her lack of showing her outgoing personality out there and she tells him, "it was a great experience, you know I never thought about having children before I went out there and now I've..." Probst cuts her off, "no, even more important than that- what did you learn about not suppressing who you are?" She replies slightly upset/pissed off saying "well, I did decide to have children out there ?" like, "you dick, didn't you hear what I said the first time?" That was the best- "no, no, no, even MORE IMPORTANT than the most life-altering thing you can do by deciding you are going to give birth to children--- why weren't you good on the show?" Funny stuff.

THORN MS- they announce the winner when that follow-up airs- she didn't know if he had won 1mil or 100K... now, Brian can get a badass divorce atty if he wants... her bad.

THE SURGEON - (1) Ted didn't assume jack, he changed his mind about the man after hearing that story about Clay and decided to confront him and embarrass him; (2) you think Clay didn't "stand up for himself" b/c he KNEW he had been called out on what he said to someone, who was it- Jan maybe? He's not Trent Lott (who agreed today to step down btw), his exact quote couldn't come back to haunt him-- but what else could he do on national television other than say, "I didn't say that, I don't know where that came from..."; try to explain the joke or comment?! If he didn't actually make an inappropriate joke or something along those lines, don't you think he would have been a little more outraged or at least tried to make a statement about it? When they were deciding who to vote for, he might have wanted to just deny it and move on ASAP, but on that aftershow, he would have more vigorously defended himself, I believe, other than only saying "I didn't say that" again. He had months to think about it ("gee, you think me being called a redneck hillbilly might get mentioned at this thing?") and that was the best he could do?! Be pissed he didn't defend himself, but that points to that he said or did something- that's my best guess.

    Ted vs. Clay

    by tommyboy

I think what the first post on this subject is getting to and also how it appeared to me was that when Helen got voted off, Ted went to her and asked her if Clay had ever made any kind of racist remarks about him. This supports the opinion that Ted could be just as bigoted as he claims Clay is. We don't know for sure, but he didn't say that Helen came to him and shared that info, but rather he went to her and asked. If, like Probst said, there was never any indication that Clay made any racist remarks, then it's safe to assume that Ted already viewed Clay as a "redneck hilbilly racist" (or whatever it was that Ted called him) before any info was given to him by Helen. Otherwise, why would he approach her about it?

It was said that Ted & her (Helen, thanks) happened to be talking about race (innocent enough and after they were out) and he asked if she had ever heard any comments and SHE mentioned Clay. He didn't run up to her after she got the boot and ask her "what about Clay?" He said he was surprised and pissed about what he heard. While Ted did go after him something fierce, he was trying to embarrass him for whatever racist comment was conveyed to him- not that he necessarily had a preconceived notion about the guy. Ted obviously believed what Helen told him. I'm still convinced that the clear inference is Clay did/said something.

    Pond scum wins again

    by subversive01057

Well, between evil, near-sociopathic pondscum Brian and racist do-nothing sidekick of evil, near-sociopathic pondscum Clay, obviously the right person one. But we wouldn't keep getting these awful Richard/Brian clones in the winners circle if it wasn't for people's stupid voting. Helen should have asked Jan what the deal was, instead of being so easily manipulated by the scum brothers. That would have been fair grounds for a new alliance. Who had more votes against them, Helen or Clay (or Brian)? And I think Helen really did know the fix was in before she voted, and yet she stuck to the arrangement anyhow, voting against the person who least deserved it. But just because Helen played an idiotic fool who deserved to lose for it, that doesn't mean the scum brothers deserved to win.

I am sure the N word sparks many feelings of pain and hatred and crossburning bla, bla, bla. I suppose it hurts every rapper that says "nigger" and sells records for it. But it is ok for them to use it. I suppose you have never ever listened to one of these "artists" use the N word. If you have, then you are a hypocrite. It was just as hateful to call someone a hick, or a redneck. I don't want to spark any flames here, but you seem to imply someone stereotyping someone is ok. It is not the word "nigger" that is so hateful. It is the meaning and force behind it. "Hick", in the context and way that Ted used it, would have been like Clay saying, "I will not vote to give a nigger $1,000,000."
And please don't throw that "My people suffered for 400 years" nonsense. YOU did not suffer for 400 years. YOU were not lynched. Just as I was not beaten by "old" immigrants, my Irish relatives were. I understand the issue of slavery is an ugly scar in world history, but all cultures have done it, and we don't have it today. Get over it. Excusing the actions and remarks of Ted based on the suffering of distant relatives is absurd. Does it bother me Ted called Clay a "hick"? No, not in the least bit. But it did bother me that Ted says "You are a racist redneck hick", which is just as racist. Not really, but it did show the double standard in America today. I am sure Clay does use the n word, but I am almost sure that he does it based on ignorance, not hate. It does not make it right, but for Ted to get all fired up about was stupid, and only the only thing Ted did accomplish was showing his own ass.
