The first mini-review on CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!!!

Published at:  Dec 11, 2002 2:41:35 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry here - I'm dying to see this Live-Action TOM & JERRY Feature film. I hear it is really really fun, and I've even heard a few people throw the name Frank Tashlin out there to describe the feel. I will wait to toss that name out till I've seen it myself, it's hard to imagine if a film like this could so much as touch the ass of a certain film about Rock Hunter! Here ya go with news that'll perk ya up!

Harry! I just got back from Century City. I had purchased a ticket to
see a little movie called Empire when I noticed they were also showing a
special screening for another little movie called Catch Me if You Can.
Naturally I busted a Frank Abagnale Jr. and assumed the identity of a
Hollywood big wig and walked right into Catch Me.

Let me tell you, it is one fun movie. How often can a director make you
root for both the protagonist and antagonist at the same time? You want
Frank to get away because he is so likeable and you want Hanks to catch
him because you feel so bad for the poor guy. And let me tell you, Frank
slips from one identity into another like you and I would into a seat at
the Mann's Chinese. He doesn't assume different identities because he
wants to, but because he has to. There are quite a few scenes where
Frank becomes someone else just because the opportunity presents itself.

He has so much fun being someone other than himself that I began
questioning whether being myself was such a good idea after all. I am
not going into details because that is part of the fun. However, the
first instance when Frank usurps an identity, a big grin will creep
across your face. He is doing a solid fur us geeks who have been bullied
time and again but could not physically fight back. And Hanks, well,
Hanks is Hanks. That guy can pull anything off. But it's DiCaprio who
redeems himself from having filmed The Beach.

As I have said before, "Hello, I must be going."

I am Groucho

I THOUGHT THE BOOK WAS GREAT!

    by zod_is_back

EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT. I started passing it around like a chain letter to everyone I knew after I read it. They all loved it too. If the movie is anywhere near as good as the book, I'll be satisfied. Frank Rules!

Thanks for the mini-review, Captain Spaulding. The trailer certainly makes this one out to be the fun film you say it is. With this movie and Two Towers, it's going to be a very merry Christmas!

I don't think CATCH ME IF YOU CAN will flop.

    by nordling

I think it'll have a steady build throughout the holidays, and will probably get word of mouth through just "regular" folks that this is one they should see. The film has a very old school feel to it and I'm looking forward to it quite a bit. Interestingly enough, there hasn't been much hype about it although some of our finest actors are in the film. I mean, I know what the story is about but I don't know what the movie feels like yet. Plus, I never miss a Spielberg. The Beard rules.

I completely agree. I didn't read the book, but to me the ads are absolutely terrible. That fucking annoying bitch who Leo says he wants to take out for a steak dinner? I swear to fuck, I hope that cheesy bitch never works again. She irritates me enough to never see the movie. And whoever made the comment about Stevo's porn collection - GOOD CALL. I find it amazing that most of the women in his film are ugly, annoying caracatures (I know I misspelled it) of real women.

I've said it before but LOTR has already killed off Star Wars, The Matrix, Spiderman, X-Men, Jurasic Park, Star Trek, James Bond and every other film franchise you can name and it will cause this movie to bomb!
Spielberg is a shit shit director compared to PJ. No one can touch Jacksons genius!!!!!!!!!

    The LOTR Mafia

    by weedymcsmokey

I can see them now - guys in those black t-shirts with dragons and lightening on them loitering outside of movie theatres threatening anyone who is going to see another movie. "What ya seein'?" "Uh, I guess I'm seeing Ararat" "Whassamatta? Don't you like elves?" BEAT, BEAT, STOMP. "Augh! Their individual B.O. is midly annoying, but combined presents a formidible weapon!...can't breath...passing out.... If I can just reach their glasses... I can render them sightless and whining....."

    by minderbinder

Totally different kind of movie, I doubt either movie will have ANY effect on the other's box office (only thing that will have an effect is probably Catch hurting Gangs). Do you guys really have to give LotR fans a bad name like this? Cut it out, most LotR fans aren't obsessive freaks like the SW fanboys...

    by purityofessence

That would be sad if it didnt. Honestly why are you people still talking about TTT. The best part of a movie is the trailer. Just watch the trailer and say ooooo ahhhhhh cool. And then you dont risk disapointment. Seriously, what is the deal with saying that someone has to like a film. Isn't That a little facist (couldnt think of a better word... sleepy), like my film or be ostrasized. Films are subjective, and relative only to personal opinion. I love the lord of the rings, I will probably love all the films. But I have no problems with someone not liking them.
