2nd To Last AMAZING RACE!! 2nd To Last SURVIVOR!!
The only CBS shows Herc watches (well, if one excludes Don Hewitt’s Sunday reality show) approach their finales.
The great thing about “Amazing Race” this season is this love\hate thing Flo and Zach share. He’s this amiable geek, and she’s this mercurial hottie who wants to bone a competitor: the twin who models for a living. (How does she choose between the two twin models? Well, the one she claims to like more is the one who’s not married. What luck!) Meanwhile, one can’t help but root for Ken and Gerard, who never seem happier than when contending with the most daunting circumstances.
“Survivor,” meanwhile, has been a menacing bore for weeks now as we’ve waited patiently for the remaining Chuay Gahn to methodically vote off the grotesquely outnumbered Sook Jai. Mark Burnett has got to do a better job of shaking up this dual-tribe structure; the votes have simply grown too predictable. Things should really pick up again Thursday, though, as any of the five remaining players – Clay, Ted, Brian, Helen or Jan - could hit the skids tonight as easily as they could win the million a week from now. It really is now anybody’s game, though Herc hopes Helen gets the boot this episode. The grating (and manufactured?) desperation she displayed as she pled for her portly, hirsute mate to suck down tarantulas last week served only to creep out an unnerved viewing public.
"Amazing Race" airs Wednesday at 9 p.m. "Survivor" airs Thursday at 8 p.m.

I'm hoping Helen and Ted make it to the final two. I can't stand Clay, and the porn guy has a nice big house, two cadilacs, and a hot (porn star?) wife, he doesn't need the million. Although listening to Helens constant recipe talk would drive me bonkers, but she's in the Navy, and being a former deck ape myself, I'm rooting for home girl.
-
I want either Helen or Ted to win also. Jan is annoying. Clay is a jerk and Brian has money.
-
definitely ted.
-
Flo is just plain MEAN. Wasn't she the one that cried like a baby to not go rapelling (sp?) down the cliff? All she does is go off on poor Zach while playing hussy to one of the Tom Cruise-wannabe prettyboy clones. My wife and I are rooting for Ken & Gerard. (Imagine there's a box of donuts down here, Gerard!--hilarious)

60 minutes of liberal crap. Too bad truth in labeling laws don
by bannthisucommies
Mercurial hottie? More like obnoxious bitch with emotional-mental imbalance, way too much self love and a brain the size of a pea pod. Does she look great? Hell yes. But Zak is a fucking moron for putting up with her shit. The geek could do much better. MUCH MUCH better. This is the ideal girl for the old fuck-N-chuck. Anyone contemplating a relationship with her needs a full lobotomy. Speaking of which, nothing serves to lobotomize better than 60 oh so Liberal minutes. Amazing how quickly they adapt. They could find a scandal to save their asses for 8 Klintonian years, hands over eyes, stapled down, duct-taped, steel plate, welded, yep I

USED Cadillacs do not equal Wealth. He's a USED CAR SALESMAN.
by philtho
Duh people, he probably got a good deal on his caddie. And since when are "caddies" rich peoples cars? They're not expensive in the slightest. If they showed two Benz's or BMWs sitting in the driveway, sure, even used those cars cost a pretty penny, but an American made Caddie? Good f'n luck! And come on, anyone who is a used car salesman isnt rolling in ANY sort of cash. Sure he has a hot wife, but that means he cant win the million? If you ask me, he's the only one deserving of it so far. Give me a break.. He's owns a used caddie so he's loaded.. WTF EVER..
-
I've watched this survivor season from the start.
The used car salesman, Brian, is the most clever of the bunch. The guy has had a plan from the start and has followed it.
He is certainly NOT rich, although he doesn't seem to be suffering either. His wife a hot - good for him and congratulations but obviously he earned her.
Personally, I think the guy deserves it far more than any of the others who remain. If some of the other tribe had made it this far I might have voted differently but... Oh and Clay is a punk. I can't wait to see him ousted - It's going to happen unless the little termite wins immunity. -
Are they good? Are they lucky? Who can tell?

I am so angry with myself that I did not start watching Amazing Race until 1/2 through #2, and now I am just hooked beyond belief. This show balances the team interaction so well with the actual race that there is truly NEVER a dull moment. You almost need the quiet team moments so you can catch your own breath. And for once, I actually felt sorry to see someone booted off a reality show! (bye John Vito & Jill...ya did your best) I am firmly in the Ken & Gerard camp now (they were always my #2 hope for winning) and would love to see them take it all. Their positive attitudes are almost intimidating...how can anyone be that happy????:)
-
...because it is truly an amazing show. Great locales, suspense, intersting contestants -- in short, everything that Survivor used to be but is not anymore, by a long shot. I agree that Zack should just knock that chick's block off and stop the race because that would really hit her where she lives. They do not deserve each other as partners. I really get a morbid kick out of Teri and Ian, the older bickering married couple as well. It's amazing they stopped arguing long enough to have kids! As for the 60 Minutes hating dude in the TB...give it a rest, already. You guys can't seem to get Clinton out of your systems, ever, and don't seem likely to, ever. He just outsmarted and outperformed any Republican prez of the last 20 years, and that thought galls you. He would've been a damn sight better than what we have now. Other than that, Peace.
-
Why are you just focusing on the cars? Did you see that video from home, that really nice big house, a grand piano. I'm not saying he's rich, but he's certainly not in any great need of money, unless all that stuff was bought on nothing but credit, and if that's the case, then he shouldn't win anyway, cause he would just blow the money. I hope somebody that needs it will win, like Helen, she's in the Navy, I can speak from experience on that, she doesn't make much at all.
-
Brian and Clay think they are number 1 and 2 and have thought that way for a while now. 3 weeks ago they showed their hand to Ted that he was definitely number 3 and when Brian and Clay wanted to vote out Jake and Ted wanted Penny gone. Who won? Ted. Ted is running the show now and he can sway Helen and Jan easily against Brian and Clay. Ted will take Jan with him into the final 2 thinking she's less threatening than Helen and everyone will vote for the old lady Jan JUST because she's an OLD LADY ... proving for the 3rd time that all you need to do to get to the final 2 in Survivor is be a non-threatening, useless old woman who gets carried by her stronger and smarter teammates. She had no business lasting this long and Jan will take home a million for being an old woman and that's about it. Thank god Ethan beat old Kim in Africa, but Tina beat Colby in Australia even though he carried her and practically handed the million to her. Tina did nothing to deserve it. Kim did nothing to deserve to be in the final 4, let alone the final 2 in Africa and Jan doesn't deserve to be in the final 2 here in Thailand.

The Week that Shi-Ann was booted was suppose to be the week they merged into one tribe. Instead, Burnett decides to pull a stupid stunt by having a twist thrown that they were two tribes on one beach. The problem is, at that point both teams were tied with having the same amount of members. It could have been so much more entertaining if they had merged tied.
-
Watched Survivor since day 1, loved it. It has been boring as hell starting the last time out. Caught the last half of Amazing Race 2, and got hooked immediately. AR is 10 times better than Survivor, particularly lately with all their soap opera drama. I highly recommend AR... it is fun from start to finish of each episode, and the host is much better than ole sardonic Jeff (Survivor), who seems to like to rub in the harsher momemts for drama and camera effect. I'd like to see the hosts swap places, Let the AR guy host Survivor... it would be much better. Cut out the dramathon on Survivor, and Jeff's digs and rubs, and get back to surviving, competing, votes and consistent pacing of the hour.
-
It's true. Just when we thought "Survivor: Africa" was behind us, and that Burnett had returned to form with the best installment yet ("Marquesas"), "Survivor: Thailand" had to come along and fuck it all up. For weeks and weeks, we've been stuck with predictable voting strategies, blatantly manipulative editing, and a bunch of annoying people that don't deserve the top prize. Now, Jake is gone, leaving Jan as the only half-likable one. And she'll probably go tomorrow night. Yay. Here's to hoping Survivor 6 gets things back on track.
-
...if only there was a way for Zach to win, and yet Flo loses. That would be ideal.
-
I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere. Survivor has lost me this year. I'm just tired of it. I hope Amazing Race can equal the incredible finale of last season. That was one incredibly tense hour of TV.
-
Where's the review of tonight's Enterprise?
-
both shows, Survivor and Amazing Race, missed the boat when it came to selecting their "cast". neither shows have definite good guys or bad guys. nobody to root for, nobody to root against. and boring too. however, this year i stopped watching Survivor but am as hooked on Amazing Race as ever before. why? Amazing Race is a better concept, nothing more nothing less. oh, and Flo is definitely a bitch.
-
Yes, I've watched Survivor the whole season. And yes I've watched the past couple seasons. But A) The two tribes/one beach thing sucked. Boring. B) They should have had a battle of gender teams. THAT would be interesting TV, because there's studies that show women are the better survivors in the long run - survival of the species and all - and would be interesting to see. Plus the catfights would be fun. :) Alternate challenges between mental and physical and stuff, and it'd be cool. C) The challenge with bringing the loved ones pissed me off. It just was blatantly manipulative television, garnered for maximum tears and stuff. The old guy's wife, the one that got voted off last week, is a tough broad though. Rock on, lady. :) D) The thing that bugs me as a principle of the whole premise of the show is the NAME survivor. If you wanted to truly survive, you wouldn't chuck half the people they do. You want your best and strongest. And I know the political gamesmanship is half the battle, but it sometimes makes no sense. Yet even though the show desperately annoys me sometimes, I still watch. *shakes head* Am I child of my generation or what.
-
I didn't mind the loved ones challenge, but it did annoy me that Jeff Probst said that only the winner would get to spend time with their loved one, and then they wuss out and let everybody share some time together. I'd be pissed if I ate all that, and then found out I would see them anyway. Brians wife must just be with him for his money, even more evidence he already has money, she sold him out after the first round.
-
I was for the two brother teams from the beginning, but as the game
has gone on I feel Terri and Ian deserve the win. From the start, they
have not been given a single thing from the other teams. All the
others shared information and aided each other. No crime in that but
Terri and Ian have had to struggle the whole way all by their own
gumption (and even helped a couple of teams who didn't return the
favour), and made it to the final three even though their age doubles
that of most of the contestants. Also Flo-bi-atch and Zach got the
lame pass even though they should have been out. All kudos to Ken and
Gerard, they are my 2nd now, but damn if the old folks don't deserve
it. -
AR3 has been great, as the past two were. Survivor 5? Boring as hell. 1 was great, 2 not quite as good, 3 sucked, 4 sucked, 5 REALLY sucked. It's funny that the most famous reality show is Survivor, and yet it's probably the worst. Another good show? If you haven't checked out the first 2 seasons, watch The Mole the next time it comes around. My wife and I find it to be the best of the lot!
-
I have nothing more to say than I love the Amazing Race and I wish it many many more seasons. It kicks ass.
-
Of the two reality game shows, I prefer The Amazing Race. Everyone knows what the rules are on The Amazing Race. They are the same every episode, and restated for the audience every episode. There are now surprises from the game - only from the way it is played. With Survivor, I often feel that the game is playing the people, instead of the people playing the game. There are supposedly prewritten rules for the show, but they are kept secret to surprise the audience and players. How very undramatic in the long run. Personally, I find it more exciting to see a tired team running towards the finish line, only to be passed by another team as happened on Amazing Race 2.
-
Yeah, I too wish Zach could win and Flo could lose. She is a total loser. Complete lack of character, sportsmanship, friendship, and maturity. She has already lost, because she is a Loser. Although Zach was one of the first ones I wanted to lose early on, because he said some petty shit that was calous and unsporting, but lately, he's had to be a lighthouse in a storm. I agree too, that that pisser Ian and his wife, undoubtably the two most annoying and obnoxious people on earth, deserve to win. They've been on fire with everything, including youth, against them. You have to admire their spirit and their play; they've been on fire. Personally hope Gerard and the bro win, but Ian and Terri deserve it, too, and just so long as Flo gets beaten up some more mentally so that she has more sheer embarrassment to live with when her friends and family continue to see her be the whining sloth that she is.
-
I also caught AR3 in mid season, and I was hooked. The pace of the show and the locales really make it a super-terrific-happy-hour.I'd like to see the 'Nam vet and the missus take the prize, although the brothers are pretty cool too so either of those teams.....I've watched every Survivor and I'm sorry but this one sucks hard...
-
Have to admit I've never watched a second of any of the Survivor shows but isn't Reality TV sucking bad now? The best thing they could add would be live ammo and lots and lots of different weapons. Then instead of voting each other off the island they would literally blow each other off. That's entertainment.
-
I watched all three series and it has always kept me interested.
I'm was hoping the Twins would have made it to the final three. But their exit reminded me of the first episode, when they are lost they lose all reason. They should have never let the older brothers out of their site, it was obviously a battle between those two teams for the last remaining spot.
I think Terry and Ian should win, because now that they are in the final they are the underdogs and every team in the race thought they were expendible.
FLo has to go. That slacker Zach is also annoying too, but I can understand why Flo would want to strangle him.
In Survivor I think Brian will be the next to go. Clay will get rid of him in a heartbeat. And now everyone wants to sit next to Clay in the finals. Jan is too weak to vote out. -
ted was too drunk and too dumb to completely convince helen that her ass was on the line with this next vote... then helen was way too weak in her arguments to jan to help vote off clay... if she had we would've put herself in the driver's seat... but by aligning with brian and voting off ted she's rendered herself and jan useless and has delivered control of the majority voting bloc right into brian's hands.. hey, good for him.. helen played right along with his strategy... dumb for her.. and it should mean more boring tv to come... man, so stupid... helen's the next to go...
-
It all depends on who wins the first immunity challenge next week - if Brian wins it he'll be in good shape because no one will want to vote Clay off because they'll all want to be with him in the final two. He'll just have to get his buddy Clay and one of the women to go along with him. Then if one of the men wins the next immunity challenge the other woman will get the boot, The only hope for Helen and Jan is to both vote for Brian (or Clay if Brian wins immunity) and then hope they can come out on top however a tie is broken this time round (because I don't think they'll be able to turn Clay against Brian).
-
I can understand people wanting Terri and Ian to win on the basis that they've played a good game, but I can't imagine that anyone likes them as people. These folks who are saying, "they are a real couple, they show what marriage is really about," etc. must come from very sad homes. They are the most miserable, abusive couple I have ever seen. Ups and downs are one thing, but it has been all downs for them through this entire show. I have not seen either of them show each other or anyone else any kindness throughout the whole race. Ian treats her like a dog ("COME TERRI!") and she pronounces his name Eye-an as his mother meant it to be even though he prefers Ee-an and everyone else in his life calls him Ee-an (this from the CBS website.) What better example can you show of total disregard for your spouse's feelings than to purposely pronounce their name in a way they dislike? And, Flo! Don't even get me started on Flo! She is the shrillest bitch I have ever seen. I am ready to pull an Elvis and shoot my TV every time she's on the screen. I love this show so much and I really hope Ken and Gerard win because if they don't I will be truly disillusioned. I was all about John Vito and Jill the whole time. I can't believe they are gone!
-
Flo is not hot. To borrow a quote from Clueless, she's a full-on Monet. From far away she looks alright but when they show her head on there is something seriously wrong with her eyes. It's like they're both lazy or her head is smashed down or something. Also, she could look like Nicole Kidman and still be unattractive because she is such a horrific person. This race is the best thing that every happened to that kid Zach. Hopefully this will teach him to stay the hell away from her.
