ENTHUSIASM Season Finale!!

Published at:  Nov 17, 2002 10:01:58 PM CST

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

You don't like salmon? That's fine!!

Plenty of fish in the sea!!

“Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Seinfeld” creator Larry David’s Kramer-free HBO sitcom, is soooo much better than “Seinfeld.” It troubles me how much funnier sitcom dialogue gets when it’s improvised by talented actors than when sitcom scribes put words in actors’ mouths. (The late, great Fox college comedy “Undeclared” used the same improvisational technique to even more hilarious effect.)

Kids, this is probably the best sitcom on TV right now.

10 p.m. Sunday. HBO.

TV Guide says:

In the third-season finale, Larry's latest shenanigans threaten to overshadow the restaurant's grand opening. Cheryl's Father: Paul Dooley. Jeff's Father: Louis Nye. Jeff's Mother: Mina Kolb. Richard Lewis and Michael York appear as themselves.

I am – Hercules!!

    Undeclared

    by mvisco

That was a great show, and another example of FOX's ignorance and inability to keep shows that are actually, how do you say?, good on the air. I have never seen CYE, as I don't get HBO, but if it is as good as what Undeclared was, I must be missing out. That's all I got.

Where the hell is the Sopranos talkback?

    by cthulhu_

There should be a sopranos talkback... The funniest episode in a really long time... and second best of the season.

    oh Yeah...
Enthusiam is a sucky ass show. Piece of crap, just because he is jewish doesn't mean he is funny (although the Seinfeld stuff was great).

Funniest show on TV. I have a stomach ache every week from laughing so much. I don't think there was a week episode this season. And the Soprano's is really picking up steam. Best 90 minute block of TV right now

The drums of war have sounded. The General must fall.

    by graham_minnesota

Tony Soprano has done too much, and burned too many bridges. Killing Ralph was a horrible mistake and entrusting the future of the New Jersey Soprano crew to Chirstopher can only lead to disaster. Tony painted to look like a General? Rather fitting considering they will probably go to war with New York and.........Wait a minute. This isn't the Soprano's talk back. Oh, that's right, there isn't a talkback for the Soprano's (but yet, there is one for "Curb Your Enthusiasm" A show the FOLLOWS "The Soprano's") I thought this was an entertainment information site where one could discuss entertainment. I guess I was wrong.

    Awesome Sopranos episode

    by brother putney

The first three or four episodes this season were sluggish and low-key, but I almost think, in retrospect, that they were just laying the groundwork for what is turning into the best season yet. Last week's episode was fantastic, and tonight's encapsulated everything I like about the show (and also dropped a couple of molotovs into the mix), and even had a cool Elias Koteas cameo. Things are building to a nice, frantic pitch. I think "Curb" is hilarious, even though it's starting to kind of overwork the "Larry pisses everybody off" motiff, but why no "Sopranos" talkback? Even frickin' Angel gets a talkback.

Herc hit the nail on the head

    by roobyroo

Most television, let alone television sitcoms, suck very badly. Curb your enthusiasm is really funny and interesting. I agree that it's better than most Seinfeld episodes, and the unrestricted environment of HBO is one of the few places shows like this can even exist. Good call giving respect to this show, Herc. Hopefully more people will give the show a chance, if they haven't already.

THE LAST TWO MINUTES OF TONIGHT'S EPISODE WAS THE FUNNIEST THING

    by maxcalifornia.

Talk about going out in style, that was some finale. Tears of laughter, especially at the timing of Cheryl's outburst when you-know-who walked in the door. "Car wash c*nt!" indeed.

    great intervention line (by silvio)

    by toe jam

"one time i found you high and your head was on the toilet. your hair was in the water. disgusting." oh man, that could be the funniest line i've ever heard on that show. tonight's episode of the sopranos was the best one this season so far, even better than last week. and yes, the last two minutes of curb your enthusiasm tonight made quite possibly the funniest moment in tv sitcom history. i expect the world will be buzzing about that finale

    Couldn't agree more...

    by homer jay

I totally agree that the last two minutes of CURB was possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen on TV. I couldn't even hear much of it over my own laughter. The dodge ball game was hysterical too, with Jeff's silent mouthing of an angry "WHAT THE FUCK" to Larry.

    You die...She dies...everybody dies!

    by franksirmarco

Sopranos has gotten very good the last two weeks. Still the weakest season to date, however.
Paulie...Dead! Christopher...Dead! Furio...Dead! John...Dead! Jr...Dead! Everyone will die...think Michael Corleone at the end of Godfather ("we took care of all the family business today.")

CYE has never been this good. Two weeks featuring a pubic hair wrapped around Larry's uvula...good stuff! "boy cock, girl cock, e-i-e-i-o!" Excellent. "Car wash cunt!" Superb!

HBO's got the networks by the boob straps.

TV will never be as good

    by spydahman

The last couple of minutes of CYE proved to be the funniest moment in all of television.
And thank you Mr. Pink for saying exactly what my roommate and I yelled right after the Sopranos scene ended: "Best intervention ever!"

    by jack burton

is starting to crack me up everytime he is on screen. What he did to Tony's painting was priceless. So was the look on his face when he'd turn in his chair to look at it. God that was funny. And the intervention completely kicked ass. Cool to see Elias Koteas working.

    Better than the Second Season

    by whiskeyriver

I love THE SOPRANOS, but the second season was definitely the worst (which is not to say it was bad). Just felt kind of throw together (which is why I think they took so much time off before the third). This season has kicked ass. They lead off with some slower, smaller episodes, but that's not bad. It was all groundwork for the shitstorm that's about to erupt. Overall, it's been perfectly paced. They know what they're doing. Added to which, I appreciated that they did some episodes that were just business. (If the Mafia whacked people all the time, they'd all be dead before the year was out.) In any case, I can't wait to see how it all winds up. Now, as for the official topic of the page-- CYE was hilarious. Great, great ending that could not exist anywhere but on cable. I love this show. (Not to start another thread here, but is MIND OF THE MARRIED MAN the lamest show on cable? What is with this Mike Binder guy? He has the deadest eyes. Yes, deader than Michael Myers'. The cast sucks, the writing blows, and HBO was so desperate for people to watch it that they sandwiched it between SOPRANOS and CYE. Won't work. It blows.)

    by ralph cifaretto

Episode (1) - (4) were great this season, I thought. The 4 that followed (5) - (8) were unfocued & often boring. They had they're moments (Tony w/ Pie o My & his lonely cowboy song "Nothin' but my rifle, my pony, and me...")-----------But the last two episodes have kicked ass. Hopefully the next three(11) - (13) will pull it all together. The final three episodes from last season were the three best in the shows history, methinks.

    by imageburn13

yep tony sticks it to anything thats got a heartbeat. Gotta love the guy for that. And I have to say, oddly enough, I enjoyed the 2nd season more than the third. Actually now that I think about it, its not that odd. Seeing Big Pussy get his just desserts made the entire 2nd season wonderful. AND the 3rd season WAS strong. But that kid was an idiot.
