PARIS, JE T'AIME Sounds Like A Lot To Love!!

Published at:  Nov 13, 2002 7:54:51 AM CST

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

This is the briefest of brief tips, but it’s provocative, and I am curious as all hell about this movie now. I’m just starting to watch WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN because I had a conversation about Almodovar yesterday, and now I’m in the mood, and this just happens to be on one of the grazillion movie channels I have now. I’m in an international mood. Maybe that’s why I find this so incredibly interesting at the moment:

This is new to me today - currently in production is a film called "Paris, Je T'aime" which is 20 short films about love in 20 districts of Paris. Directors include Godard, Woody Allen, Tom Tykwer, Johnny Depp, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Amores Perros). Cast includes Penelope Cruz, Tom Cruise, Gael Garcia Bernal, Charlotte Rampling, and many more.

I’m going trolling for more information about this one. For now, the IMBb shows nothing, and I haven’t seen any other references to it. I’d love to see a complete list of the talent involved, and I hope I can figure out who’s behind the movie, who will ultimately be releasing it.

"Moriarty" out.

    Did I understand this?

20 stories in ONE movie? At six minutes each that'd be two hours. Which I guess only leaves time for a quick sentimental vignette, maybe beautifully shot but kinda empty. I'd rather have three to five stories with more meat. Anyways, the creative team sounds cool.

I was thinking the same thing, if the short films are shown together they'd be awfully short unless the total running time was at least 300 minutes

    Tom Tykwer's segment

    by ezella_garnie

If I recall correctly from a news snippet in German papers a few weeks ago Tom Tykwer's segment in this omnibus-film will take place in the 14th arrondissement and will have Natalie Portman in the lead role. Each of the segments will indeed be shorter than 10 minutes.

See? This is exactly what I mean...

Tykwer and Portman? I'd watch two hours of that alone! Plus, Lord Shatner: Tykwer-TEKwar... COINCIDENCE?!
