New FINDING NEMO Trailer Online Now!!

Published at:  Oct 31, 2002 3:19:20 AM CST

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

It cracks me up that people are trying to overinflate a few rumored grumblings into FINDING NEMO somehow being “the worst Pixar film ever.” So far, based on what they’ve made, that’s like complaining that someone gave you “the worst million dollars ever.”

Click here and bask in the warm glow that comes from Pixar’s brains being so DAMN big!!

Love the trailer. Love love love love it. Can’t wait to see it. Hate Beaks for already seeing it. Seethe. Plot. Watch trailer again. Love love love love love it.

"Moriarty" out.

They had me from the first second, with that first shot of the gentle waves rolling through that perfect ocean world. My 3 year old is sitting on my lap begging me to play it again. I must not dissapoint her. :-)

Is Brooks not one of thee most underrated actor/comedians working in film. The guy is hilarious in just about everything he does. He has this great, downbeat sense of humor that is a terrific counterpoint to loud comedy of Chris Tucker and Adam Sandler. This guy should be getting more support from audiences and hopefully his voicework in this will raise his profile.

  • both of those trailers had me counting down the days to the release. They were exciting visually and laugh out loud funny. this is just sort of "eh" but its still a new pixar film so I'll be there with bells on.
(bells on? what the hell does that mean?)

It really is amazing CGI, however, much to Moriarty's dismay...

    by cooldan989

...I still believe that this is just CGI Lifetime Channel fodder. If I do see this, which I might not, it will be just to hear Willem Dafoe's role.

  • I won't be watching. I absolutely cannot stomach Disney fluff. Pixar at least remembers that we have adults in the audience who would like to stay a little entertained as well, and they manage to deliver the brilliance of two-level entertainment of a consistant basis. Disney, for the most part, is repulsively saccrine. The only exception in recent memory was Emperor's New Groove, because it was just plain WEIRD. As for the animation - VERY nice. I mean, there's not much that's truly spectacular in the way of water shaders, but it's certainly more than adequate for a cartoon, and certainly better than you'd see out of any other studio. Once again, where Pixar shines is with the characters. This is the company that can suck a performance out of a LAMP, ferchrssakes. Love that shark. Damn that was a well-made shark. The whale was not bad at all. Angler wasn't bad at all, either. I guess only the main characters really disappoint me, but maybe they're just too Disney. Anyway, good to see more Pixar coming out. "Worst Pixar ever?" Only because Disney's had more say in this.

THESE ARE the films that Lassitter and company WANT to make. No one put a gun to John's head and said "make a fish movie, and make sure it's cute or else", this was a story that was pitched to him by the man who is presently directing the movie. This is the kind of story John likes. These are the kind of films that John likes to make. As far as I know, I have never heard him express a desire to do something "dark" or "adult". Believe it or not, some people LIKE to make entertainment for children. Most if not all of the creative decisions come from within PIXAR. John has commented on occation that they already sort of censor themselves. If they feel something in the story goes to far or is in extreme poor taste, they change it themselves, because they're PROFESSIONALS guys, not a bunch of kids giggling over poop and fart gags (not that they're above such things, they're just a little more creative in their delivery. The PIXAR/ Disney dispute involves sequals, not the content of their features, which would probably remain the same, even if he worked independantly. (Just look at the shorts he made on his own- before Toy Story - That's John.)

    A few comments...

    by 451

Pixar cannot make a bad movie. They could computer generate feces, and it would still be a great heart warming family flick.

They have not let me down yet. I hold this company so high in my books, I own a fair amount of stock in them. I bought it around $36/ share, and today they closed over $51. When I buy stock, I only buy what I believe in. Next week they will be announciung their quarter results, and I can only imagine how many of you that bought Monsters Inc DVDs will help fill my pockets with green bliss...

    They make great movies....
    They make me money...

    Pixar crushes my skull...

The day Toy Story 3 comes out, I can die a happy man... or if the animated feces flick comes out first. Oh yes... there will be a TS3.

Is there such a thing as bad head? Not really... So how can Pixar make a bad movie? Even bad head is good. Well... Im sure a few of us have faced the woodchipper... hmm... still Pixar is a skull crusher.

It must be some kind of Dirk Diggler prosthetic... -------- Seriously though, I was expecting manmeat from that teaser subject line. WARNING to other TB'ers, the link NOT a link to aGlory Glory Almighty Hole, it is to Jesusland, and Dolphin is trying to convert me. And BOTH of these posts have been outstandingly off-subject. by frankcobretti

    1. I want to like Albert Brooks. I really do. I wanted to like him in Real Life, I wanted to like him in Defending Your Life, hell, I even wanted to like him in The Muse. Thing is, I just don't. In my book, "amusing neurotic guy" just translates to "whiner." 2. Dolphin, Bait 'n Switch is the worst sales tactic in the world. It doesn't work well with cars, and it doesn't work well with evangelism. People who click over to your site feel cheated and betrayed, not intrigued. If you really want to hook 'em, say something interesting about movies and then, as a postscript, say "Oh, by the way, I put together this web page outlining the fundamentals of Christianity." Those who are called will go, and those who aren't won't get the impression that Jesus Christ has no more intrinsic value than a '79 Datsun.

Is Sean Connery the voice of Nemo? If so, who's the highly talented, yet underestimated, young black man who teaches him how to say "yo tha man now dog!"?
