Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

Yesterday, Mr. Beaks and I had the opportunity to sneak a peek at Joe Carnahan’s NARC, which is going to be released by Paramount and Lions Gate this December.

The film stars Ray Liotta and Jason Patric.

And it’s a blistering, powerful character piece that I can’t shake.

CHECK OUT THE TRAILER RIGHT HERE!!

Both Beaks and I will be weighing in with our full reviews of the film in the days ahead. I want to spend a little more time soaking in the details of the piece before I react, but I look forward to talking to you soon.

"Moriarty" out.

    Whoa there, Big Spender!

    by darkzero

Wow, what a cast. I bet they really broke the bank on those two. I bet a whole SEVENTEENTH of the budget went to just those two big name actors! A cast like that must have cost them HUNDREDS of dollars!

    Looks good....

    by mechaniferret

Jason Patric and Ray Liotta are great actors. This movie is definitely a "must see". It looks like "Training Day", "The Shield", and "Lethal Weapon"(minus the adrenalized action sequences). I am looking forward to it. If you aren't, then you suck and you should drown yourself in your own urine.

Ray Liotta is going to kick some serious ass as the voice of Tommy Vercetti in the game.

Is this the same Joe Carnahan that made BGBO? Has he made any other movies besides these two?

Terry 1978, you legend! That Midway game was awesome

    by lazyassdestroyer

you know the best thing about it was at the start of each game and the porsches screeched onto the screen to the sound of the bad guys going, "Oh no! It's the NARCS man!
    Brilliant

A TALKBACK SCOOP? Yes, same Joe Carnahan as BLOOD BULLETS AND O

    by the tall man

...NARC is one of the best movies he's EVER seen -- period! Guess that's why he's agreed to star in Joe's next movie A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES. So there ya go. Sacramento kid makes good after his shot on video debut. Who'da thunk it?

Paramount and Lions Gate teaming up? That's weird...

    by cooldan989

I don't think a major motion picture studio has ever collaborated with a small little indie studio. Possibly this whole movie was made by Lions Gate, and they felt that the movie was so important that they had to find a way to give it a wide release. Oh, man, now I have to see it! Why do I do this to myself?

    by man_of_kerioth

Oh, wait, Ben "anally insatiable" Affleck played that role. Waitaminute, if Ben Affleck likes anal sex, and he was dating Jennifer Lopez, then... OH MY GOD! J-Lo took it up the ass! Damn you, Affleck! J-Lo's sweet, sweet booty was suppose to retain its virginity until I got to it! DAMN YOU, AFFLECK!!!!

    Great, another police movie

    by fd resurrected

Here's hoping NARC is an intense and gripping crime drama movie. I really dig the cop-and-robber movies of the 60's and 70's - Dirty Harry and Serpico are examples - but its cool thrilling factor sort of waned out in the 80's and 90's - I didn't even bother to rent Training Day. Then again there's Law & Order and Homicide: Life on the Street to keep me riveted.

Holy Shit! That Joe Carnahan? I don't believe it!

    by margot_tenenbaum

I should have known, since I have an 8x10 glossy of the vivacious Mr. Carnahan pinned to the wall my tiny cubicle at ConHugeCo Inc. I'm a certified Carnahanaholic!

Does Ray Liotta talks Kal-El out of being dead in this one?

    by lordhoban

That would certainly be an interesting plot twist... Ray could become the new antichrist, and jump around saying 'Oooga Booga', No wait.. I got it.. Ray tries to Scam Kal-El (played by Jason) out of being dead, with the assistence of his lovely backstabbing bride who's on a mission from god to fuck up some aliens, Sigourny Weaver. Hell yeah, I think we have a winner..

    I saw it already...

    by playkins

..and it's REALLY fucking good. Liotta put in the best performance I've ever seen from him, and if it wasn't for Sleepers, I'd say the same about Patrick. This is definitely one to see.

    Neat...

    by crimsonrage

...Joe's first movie was decent, with the notable exception of that terrible "I know a guy who fucked Johnny Cash." monologue. That was the most idiotic, wannabe-Tarantino piece of dialogue I've ever heard (not to mention completely disrespectful to an icon of Cash's status).

    by mightycolonic

You can NOT be serious... Knockaround Guys? 20-24 million??? I HIGHLY doubt it... That reel of crapola will be lucky to log 12 million, and hopefully tell hollywood that vin diesel is just a homosexual schmuck. JUST because he is in it, and he is the supposed "shit" lately, that doesn't mean it's gonna blow up this weekend... Films that are delayed as long as that one always go to the shitters... Don't expect anymore than 12 Mil... And I predict it averages closer to 8... MC

    Narc isn't a retread

    by pistolas

I saw this film when only Lions Gate had their paws on it, and I've gotta say that I was impressed. Their 3 mil was well spent. My boss was interested in Carnahan for a project, so we got to see it pretty early on. It was balls to the wall intense from scene one, the dialogue really snapped, and the ending (or the reasoning behind the ending) caught me pleasantly by surprise. It's a brutal, well thought out cop drama. I think this was the cut that Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner saw when they said, "We like this, so we're going to put our names on it and take credit for the whole thing in exchange for bringing Paramount in." I'm pretty sure those were their exact words.
