Elmore Leonard, for director George Armitage (GROSSE POINTE BLANK).

being sent to fight in Alabama. Determined to return to her home, she
travels 200 miles on foot through hostile territory in hopes of being
reunited.

* New Line Cinema is in final talks to reteam hip-hop stars Method Man and

his previously unknown past is dredged up.

GUNN SHOTS

(NOT from the trades)

* Location Network announces the launch of the first online scouting
resource. Designed by location managers, this site bridges traditional
location scouting with the advantages of the high-speed Internet. The
company offers a full service resource where users can make detailed
location requests. Specific locations to match requests are quickly
delivered on a Digital Desktop, an image management system created
specifically for this medium. Users can then view images, send out locations
to the production team, and print them in a matter of moments.

* FOLLOW THE ROADKILL. They dare you. Check it out at
If You Can Stand The Stench.

* DIRECTOR'S CUT is based on a Chas Balun novella about a horror director
who's pursued by the demons of his past, culminating in a blood-soaked
screening of his most infamous film. DIRECTOR'S CUT will be adapted by
David Parker (HOUSE OF THE DEAD) and Daniel Schweiger (FREE ENTERPRISE).
Stuart Gordon (RE-ANIMATOR) is producing. Also, check out the new trailer
for DATE OR DISASTER at www.dateordisaster.com. This is a satire of reality
dating shows directed by Rick Elfman (FORBIDDEN ZONE, MODERN VAMPIRES), and
stars Robert Maschio (SCRUBS) as a manipulative host who goes on a
mis-matched date with truly disasterous results.

    by beartrap

Brian Cox sure does look like that guy in the "Adaptation" trailer, only not so damn creepy. McKee has a book that will set you back 25 bucks instead of 500-600 dollars. Of course, you'll have to actually read it instead of sitting on your bum-bum feeling smug that you are learning from a Hollywood master, or something like that.

    Where they get these ideas...

    by case

They aren't creative. They just have a set of "Concept Dice." You know, you roll the dice and they read, "Western, Hip-Hop" or "Sci-fi, Werewolves." Other things written on the dice are "Sequel," "Remake," and of course "Adaptation."

Why the hell can't you have a hip hop soundtrack for a western? Is it anymore inconcievable than having Bon Jovi do a song for a western? Your cultural prejudice is showing.

    By the way...

    by kingkrypton

...that GUNS & ROSES movie sounds dumb. The title sounds more like an Axl Rose biopic, and I have ZERO interest in seeing Lil' Kim and Bobby Brown in a western. If they want to do a movie about black cowboys (and there were black cowboys in the Old West, make no mistake), why do they have to bring hip-hop into it? Why can't they just portray the Old West as it really was? This sounds like a nother movie made only because of the soundtrack. Oh, and on the SUPERMAN thing, THE NEW YORK TIMES site has an article dated for September 15th claiming that Jon Peters is still producing the film, even though Coming Attractions reported that he's been ditched in favor of the tag-team of Richard Donner, David Heyman, and Barrie Osbourne. Looks like the same old merry-go-round, eh? Peters always gets a bad script and a director attached, WB falls all over them and tries to get the film going...and it always falls apart at the last minute. When are they gonna learn? Fire Peters and get a decent producer in there, and maybe we'll have something.

Renfro, "Freddy vs. Jason" and creative differences?

    by prozacmorris

What kinds of creative differences would cause bad-boy Renfro to walk off the project. I bet it had something to do with his lines, that is the fact that producers wouldn't let him snort blow off of the female lead's ass. I think it's refreshing, a young actor has to have principles. BTW, is that "other" girl from "Destiny's Child" still going to be in FvsJ. I can only see trouble from that. "I can't be cut up! I'm a ROLE MODEL. by weedymcsmokey

hip-hop hasn't been gritty for ten years - it's all smoothed out pimpin', ice and sweet rides. I appluad Lil' Kim though, she's turned getting butt-fucked by MCs into a lucrative career as slut-impressario - making J-Lo look positively virginal is no small feat. I bet she uses jizz like Oil of Olay - twice a day, folks, twice a day. I really can't picture her riding a horse per se, but I can picture her starring with one :-)

    Miami Mofo and Jaded One

    by kingkrypton

Miami Mofo, I actually consider the "Sandra Bullock as an Elvis impersonator" gag to be more horrific. The thought of her wearing those muttonchop sideburns and making like an escapee from JAILHOUSE ROCK is WAY worse than a bunch of Richard Simmons wannabes doing Liza impressions...which, of course, is why I ran with it :D.----And Jaded One, the Faith Hill as Captain America gag actually had its genesis in a message board discussion regarding Michael Clarke Duncan as the Kingpin. One of the guys in support of Duncan's casting said, "Hey, they could cast Shania Twain as Daredevil, and as long as she embodied the traits of the character, I'd be cool with it! Plus, she'd look good in red spandex!" Given that, it didn't take much for me to think up the Faith Hill as Cap gag. And to be honest, it wouldn't be THAT big of a stretch if they were to actually do that. There was a female Captain America in Marvel's MC2 line (called "American Dream," wearing the classic Cap costume, as I recall), so it's not like the idea is totally out of left field.

  • now that it's officially official, that is. i'm really eager to hear what talkbackers think about this cuz personally i'm pretty damn excited. Ratner still hasn't proven himself as an immense talent, or even a GREAT director. but he's a good one, who turned Rush Hour 2 into a rambunctious, extremely entertaining, well-shot and well-timed action comedy movie. and he did direct Nic Cage in one of his better performances in The Family Man. not that that's saying a lot (Cage is not a very good actor), but it IS saying something. once Red Dragon hits on October 4th, i will be able to officially decide what i think of his involvement with Superman. but right now, this is good. way better than McG. i just really can't wait to see how this movie turns out.

Hot on the heels of his remakes of THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR and ROLLERBALL, director John McTiernan has announced his intention to remake Norman Jewison's THE STATEMENT before the original hits theater screens. LL Cool J will take Michael Caine's role in what the director describes as a "combination of the gritty hip-hop world and the postwar hypocracy of the Catholic church." THE STATEMENT (McTiernan version) arrives in December 2002.
