New RED DRAGON Trailer in Glorious Quicktime
Hey folks, Harry here... well the recent test screening sounded scrumbdiddlyumptious, and this trailer is damn good. Personally I'm pulling for Ratner to pull it off, after all... wouldn't you be happier with a great film and a newly uncovered quality filmmaker - or would you be more secure in the movie sucking thus proving how superior you are? Hmmmm... so which is it?
The second "Red Dragon" trailer was released today. I really enjoyed "Manhunter"
so I hope Ratner makes "Red Dragon" live up to the original. If Jack Daniels's review
is any sign of how good the movie is...it should be a blast. The latest trailer for "Red
Dragon" is far superior compared to the first one.CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THIS AWESOME TRAILER!

This trailer gives way too much away! Maybe it's because I've read the book and know what to expect, but I felt this trailer ruined the movie.
-
I've never seen Manhunter, and I don't plan on seeing it until after I see this. Edward Norton is God.

i got a problem with quicktime. the audio is very very very choppy. it's almost impossible to hear what's being said, and it gives me a headache. the video is fine though. my computer is good, so it's not that, and i've tried reinstalling it and that didn't do it. so if there's another program that plays quicktime, what's it called? of what is the solution to the problem that i'm having? thanks.

Looks freakin' great!!!!!

Y'know, I liked the first trailer.........but THIS ONE ROCKS!!!! Brett Ratner can leave his Rush Hour days behind! Can't believe this is the same guy who directed Money Talks.

Wow... looks alot better than Riddley Scott's effort... GO R
by kampbell-kid
This looks really good... focus isn't on gross out like the sequel but back on track with creeping you out. Can't wait, hope this film does well for him!

I've read the book and the script, but I wasn' so sure Ratner knows what he's doing. I think he may have a good idea. Now we have hope. And doesn't Fiennes sound creppy as a Mormon in a porn shop?
-
I always liked Norton, and I think that he'll be in great form. One of this film's secret eapons, for sure, is Ted Tally, who I'm sure will be just as loyal to Harris' novel this time around as on "Silence of the Lambs"....
-
Ralph has nailed it!!! He'll be the scariest bastard since Spacey in Seven. And you can tell they're going with the original novel's ending this time (although part of me does want to see Norton smashing through the window as Ina Gadda da vida is playing). CAN'T WAIT. Go Brett Ratner...remember kids, Jonathan Demme was a comedy director before SOTL too.

Brett Ratner's career thus far has been one of total mediocrity. He gets paid jagillions and puts butts in seats with really average to below average films. He lacks any sort of finesse with his material but simply goes straight between the eyes with a sledgehammer. And he seems like the type of guy who believes his own hype. Have you heard him interviewed on the Rush Hour 2 DVD? He takes narcissism to new levels. I really hope he hasn't fucked this movie up. That script, that cast, those sets, that cinematographer. I'm pulling for the guy, I really am. But I'm not holding my breath...

It's commercial, but damn it could be a sweet set up fo #4!

Ok, I've got my misgiving about Ratner, who doesn't. but this trailer teases a pretty gripping yarn no? At the very least I'm hoping this movie sets up some sort of denouement for "Silence 4" . Picture it, a tainted and horrified Starling (give Jodie her 20 Mill. she deserves it) is on the run from Lecter 1 year post "Hannibal" and seeks help from Norton. Ahh? ah! Nobody thinks thinks this former FBI superstar is anything but a spent, paranoid wack-job. But she needs help. Lecter is oh so subtle on the loose. He strings together a series of seemingly unrelated kills that satisfy his own urelenting need to chop but it also acts as a road map to Starling. A map that noone else will see but Norton an' her. So they're trying to stop the killings AND the hunting of Starling. Cinematic Gold I'm tellin ya. Why am I posting this shit I gotta write this down and call Harris. If I'm on the write track I really hope it doesn't take another 10 years. Sir Hopkins is going to get crusty soon and he'll need his teeth satisfactorily finish this legacy. He's a hero, he's a villain. That's what is disturbing, and that is why it's good.

DarkHawke You say some good stuff and man I won't pit Mann against Ratner, but it's all just stories dude. It's the ether and the joy of seeing the imagination of the printed word put to screen. It doesnt' mean anything, cuz if it did it'd be "catcher..." or some shit, you know? We're just "throw away".
we mull and bitch over someone elses money machine. Good stories kick ass, but most of this crowd is way too preoccupied. This is good talk back baby! not the Scooby rant crap that you usually see. ahh fuck the bozos... is that the Pitt line from 12 Monkeys? somebody hep me with that one. -
when are we finally gonna dump this garbage and use a decent format for movie trailers?

Slurp-slurp-slurp!

Quicktime is glorious and by far the best format for viewing trailers. But every now and then Apple puts a trailer online that you can't save (even with QT Pro). Anybody got a link? Second trailer looks much better than the first, Norton doesn't look so wooden, but it's gonna have to be something very special to be better than Manhunter.
-
how the hell do i find the direct link to these damn things? I sneak in with the view source and find the mov urls but they do nothing more than open the player. Do i have to tamper with these urls somehow? Frigging QT

yeah, that's the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, I like it. PS - This flick should, and will, rule. MANHUNTER is cool but by the end its not RED DRAGON anymore. This flick looks like it is, dammit!

Bevare of the big Red Dragon that sits on your doorstep. He eats little boys. Puppy dog tails and big...fat...snails. Bevare...take care. BEVARE.
-
But after watching the new trailer I decided to watch Manhunter because now we have a direct comparison between Brian Cox and Anthony Hopkins in the Graham seeing Lecktor at the hospital scene. Now I must admit that I've not read Red Dragon yet, but for me Cox's interpretation is far superior to Hopkin's which goes very OTT in places. I still love what Hopkins does with the role but Cox just seems so much more menacing with a less is more attitude. I have to agree with the above talkbacker however. Fiennes has nailed it as the tooth fairy!!! Can't wait to see the film and compare it properly with Manhunter.

by moose420
Yeah thats right, near the end of the trailer Ed Norton is lookin at a tree and on the tree is the logo for RDS, I guess RDS is a little bigger company then I thought!!

this worked for me!
"There is often a problem with the default settings of QT,
you can try changing the settings as follows:
Start->Settings->Control Panel->QT Settings->Sound Out->wave Out
for some reason changing from Direct Sound to waveout on these platforms
makes a night and day differences in playback of your movie. -

Trailers don't mean shit. Hannibal had a good looking trailer but it turned out to be sub-par. We'll have to wait for the reviews for this one.
-
I just watched this trailer. Is it me, or is Hopkins' Dr. Lector turning into just another in a long line of wise-cracking Freddy Krueger types? It's getting hard to take this character seriously.
-
No film will ever do the book 'Red Dragon' justice. Manhunter ruined the ending, but the scene where we first meet Hanibal is straight from the book. Brian Cox got it just right. I think this one will go wrong trying to fit it in with the other two films. Shame, sometimes things are better left alone.

by nocureforfools
Scott turned the whole thing into this really bad Freddy Krueger type of flick. it was awful, awful, awful. i'm one of the few fans of the novels who thought that Hannibal, as the third book in the trilogy, was pretty cool. i thought: this would make a great film. alas, it was one of the worst films i have ever seen. Silence of the Lambs is a horror classic; both the film and the novel are amazing. you can't really tell shit from shinola watching a trailer, but, IMHO, just about anything would be better than the atrocious Hannibal.

A few disjointed thoughts about red dragon/manhunter/SOTL...
Trailer for red Dragon looks awesome; i for one am excited to see this take on the book, which i read years after originally seeing Manhunter (imagine how stoked i was to learn that Manhunter was based on this book, AND that it was a pre-cursor to SOTL).
I love everything about Manhunter, even if some of the acting occasionally sucked. there aren't many scenes in the history of mankind that are cooler than the scene that plays out with in-a-gadda-da-vida...how great is that editing?
As much as i love Manhunter, I'm still curious and excited to see a more faithful adaptation to the book.
As great as SOTL is, i've always wished they'd have stayed closer to the book in regards to Jack Crawford. There was SOOOO much more to that character than was presented in the movie; Hannibal Lecter is aware of him and toys with him a bit, too (you'll have to read SOTL to see what i mean). i understand why they did it (showcase the interplay betw Hannibal and Starling and all), but it would have added an additional dimension to the flick...imagine Crawford in the movie receiving a note form Lecter offering his condolences on the passing of his wife...creepy.
On his best day, Scott Glenn couldn't lick the boots of Dennis Farina as Jack Crawford. Crawford in Manhunter is dynamic and totally kickass; in SOTL, he's barely there; you get no insight into the character or why he deserves to be in the position he's in. I've always wished they'd used Farina in SOTL. kinda goes back to the diminished role of Crawford in SOTL movie, though...
i remember reading an interview of Michale Mann in the LA times quite a while back in which he discusses his reasons for modifying the ending of Manhunter from that of hte book. at the time, there were a number of suspense/horror movies where you think the "big bad" has been killed like four different times and he keeps coming back. The ending in Red Dragon is sorta-kinda like that, and he wanted to stay away from the whole "false death" tricky ending that was so prevalent at the time...when Dollarhyde was dead, he stayed dead...
that's all i got...looking forward to this flick! -
WOW, CANT WAIT.
